What Smosh Really Is About

You know the same way we project our insecurities onto others and despise them when we see them embody traits we subconsciously dislike in ourselves, there is a positive other side of the coin to this where we see positive qualities in others that are also latent in ourselves but we never got the chance to nurture and develop them, and we project this positive traits onto this people and start to deeply admire them, gravitate towards them, feel an attraction to them (what type of attratction depends on the context).

What I feel like ppl struggle with the most nowadays on a subconscious level and somewhat superficially aware level is tolerance for embarassment. In a world where everything is constantly recorded and everyone has access to you 24/7, a world that tells you "be yourself but be good at it", it feels almost impossible to nurture in us the courage to fearlessly embarass ourselves. So when we see someone doing that we admire them and feel a pull towards them instantly.

Another thing humans are wired to be instantly pulled towards is familiarity (familiar faces for instance)

Now ... if someone were to get a bunch of conventionally attractive people to be unashamedly silly and embarass themselves publically for 30 minutes to an hour literally everyday ...

Getting teary eyed watching the new Smosh Mouth because it's genuinely really refreshing whenever Damien talks about weight fluctuation. I'm overweight and I've struggled with my own size throughout different points in my life, so when he actually discusses it and how it's impacted his style, it feels really validating to see someone speak to that insecurity.

I have issues with dressing myself as a GNC woman because I feel like I don't see as much representation of bigger butch/androgynous women. Seeing how much Damien is still able to look good in his own style regardless of where his weight is at has helped me get more comfortable with the idea of trying different things.

Overall, it just means a lot for him to speak so candidly about his own body struggles. I get severe gender envy for the way he's able to pull off his sense of style, but it also just feels really meaningful because so much of the Smosh cast is thin and can tend to occasionally lean into jokes/bits that border on fatphobic in nature, so I just genuinely appreciate that Damien's always tried to promote ideas about body neutrality whenever it's mentioned.

My Damangela AU fic idea

So I saw this post and came up with a different idea for a damangela fic about angels and fear of wings and it's way too long to put in a comment or as a reblog of that post, but thank you for the inspiration!

Angela is an angel that is afraid of wings. Every angel's final test to ascend to the higher tier of heaven where all angels live their adult (immortal) life is to earn their wings. To earn their wings, angels are assigned to a person on Earth that they have to help with something they are struggling a lot with. Her fear of wings, deep down, is a fear of change, of growing up, of accepting herself, but she is not aware of that, at a surface level, she is afraid of her body changing, the thought of having wings is just disgusting to her. So she keeps failing this test, sometimes she flunks on purpose, sometimes she self-sabotages without even consciously realising it. She's given on final attempt at earning her wings after multiple failed attempts, and this time she gets assigned to Damien. Damien is a young man with undiagnosed autism. He is struggling a lot with connecting with other people, forming and maintaining relationships. He knows he is different, but he doesn't understand why nobody seems to be able to accept him so he concludes that he cannot be loved or accepted (including loving and accepting himself) She introduces herself and explains why she's here with a ''let's just do this quick and be done with it'' attitude, already having resigned herself to the fact the she will leave the rest of immortality as an exiled, failed angel. He is apprehensive, but maybe out of loneliness, he goes along with it. He thinks this young woman is clearly delusional claiming she's an angel so there's no need to mask around her since she has no grasp of reality. She comes up with some half assed schemes to help him with his issued and they get into some shananagins that become more so excuses for them to get closer and open up to each other. The more they talk, the more he feels safe to infodump about himself and his special interests and, even though, at first she feigns disinterest rolling her eyes at him. She tries to keep pretending this is just a job she can't wait to be done with, but she can't keep up this facade for long and ends up being vulnerable with him about her situation and her fears and insecurities. They of course end up falling and love and after another failed scheme of hers (this one being a genuine attempt to help this time), they confess their feelings to each other no longer being able to deny them. For the next few days they live a love fairytale. Her affection and love shows Damien how to love himself exactly as he is. He never thought it possible that being himself around someone else could lead to such wonderful feelings and experiences and that gives him strenght to be bold enough to be himself unapologetically in all aspects of his life, even if he could be rejected. His love makes her feel safe and reassured for the first time in her existence, Knowing that he will cherish her and find her beautiful always, no matter what, maked her feel like she could do anything with him by her side. She feels ready for whatever may come and she can see this being her forever. She finally feels ready to commit to change. And so she earns her wings. Ultimately, it's a bittersweet ending. Once she accepts herself and accepts change and earns her wings, she has to leave. Once they reach they final form angels can no longer be bound to the mortal realm. But she is allowed the chance to have a proper heartfelt goodbye. She makes sure to let him know how wonderful he is just by being him and he makes sure to let her know that she is unstopable and can do anything she puts her mind to, especially now with these majestic beautiful wings. They promise each other they will never forget what they shared and they'll each use what they learned in this next step of their journey (through human life or immortality), both being forever changed for the better through the power of love!

I am well aware that nobody cares about this but I had my 2nd ever smosh dream since I've been watching smosh since 2011 and it's damangela so I gotta share it into the void!

So like it was a Board AF video but everyone had reclyning chairs for some reason and Angela and Damien started competing to see who can lean back more in the chair to the point you could only see their heads above the table like they almost went full horizontal sitting next to eachother. Then Damien turned his head towards Angela and bit her hair and started sucking on it so she turned towards him and tried to get her hair out of his mouth using her own mouth which lead to them basically making out but with locks of her hair in their mouths lmao.

And I was just like "yo this is the weirdest bit they ever done wtf is happening". Then I woke up :))
