I figured that since I post a lot of sort of political stuff on this blog as well as soc, I should probably post it here (and I wanted to get this off my chest).
I started hate-stalking terf blogs a week or so ago, and at first I disagreed but then I really couldn’t because like… They’re right.
Tumblr says that terfs reduce women to our vaginas, but how do they do that? By saying a woman needs a vagina, you’re not saying that’s all she’s worth, but you’re just saying that that is the requirement to be a woman. And if terfs reduce women to our vaginas, then what do trans women reduce us to? Stereotypes?
The thing about trans activism is that it isn’t ethical. Giving children hormones for no physical reason isn’t ethical, lying to parents and telling them that it’s reversible and safe is straight up disturbing.
Transitioning children is what made me hit my “peak trans”, because transgender children were literally just gender nonconforming kids. Why can’t we just let kids play with what they want, or dress how they want, without putting them on hormones? Why do they have to be the opposite gender just because they like the things play with etc? Doesn’t that just reinforce gender roles? (and obviously there are children who really do struggle with dysphoria, but it should be treated like the disorder it is and they should be given adequate therapy)
And then there’s men like Riley J Dennis, telling lesbians that they should re-examine their aversion to penis, and be more inclusive in their sexuality, as if that doesn’t sound like conversion therapy, as if female sexuality was something that men were entitled too.
Another thing is the way tumblr equates terfs to literal nazis. As if they’re somehow comparable. As if people who want ethnic cleansing are the same as people who biological reality.
The thing about Liberal feminism is that it doesn’t require much critical thinking. We’re told that trans women are women, but you can’t ask why. According to libfems trans women and women are the same, even though biology says otherwise.
Female erasure in politics has also turned me “terfy”. We’re told that ‘cis’ women can’t speak over trans women, but they can speak over us. (Lily Madigan is a prime example of this) If a man in a dress can self-identify as a woman and be allowed in female spaces, what happens to the women who need those places to be safe from male violence, what about them? How long until we start excluding women from our own spaces for not being comfortable with men? What happens to us then?
There’s going to be backlash over this, but I honestly don’t care. I don’t mind having a civil debate with someone, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
And terfs, can you like this post so I can follow more of you, please?
