You cannot keep up with Roger unless you have all your wits about you and you don’t sleep. He reads the papers… he’s aware of trends. And he’s into being a rock and roll star… to live it and breathe it. And he was. - Brian May
HE SIGNED IT - GOD
we talk a lot about this performance of In The Lap Of The Gods but the bass in this part is slept on
This is so hot it almost made my computer melt
━━ roger taylor, 1983
yall he is playing soccer with a fucking umbrella, i swear this man is something else…
In 2014 during the Queen & Adam Lambert tour, Roger sang These Are The Days Of Our Lives and on the screen there were some of the best moments of Queen and most of the audience was of course crying but cheered so loudly when they showed John Deacon that both Rog and Brian turned around to figure out why we were clapping and they both smiled so big ♥♥♥
I did not make the video but i was there, just above. John appeared at 0:28! It was so emotional you have no idea. The venue was also full and everyone was singing and welcomed Adam so warmly, it was such a good experience!!
It’s cuz we all love and appreciate John, and are so grateful for all he did give us, despite how difficult he found it sometimes, and we sure as shit want him to know we love him, too.
I’m fucking wrecked.
I’m bawling my eyes out
DAMN I’M CRYING
Freddy is getting ready to see Paul McCartney in Chile :)
I know that it’s very sad that Deaky no longer chooses to perform with Queen and has not contacted Roger or Brian in a long time, but please remember that Freddie’s death hurt him in ways we cannot imagine. Roger said, himself, that Deaks was always a very delicate person. He’s only performed three times since Freddie’s passing. From what we know, John Deacon is not an angry old man. He’s someone who lost one of his best friends to something horrible. He’s someone who, reportedly, had a lot of trouble with isolation and depression, so as response to a horrible loss, has decided to surround himself with his family. I think Fred (Roger and Brian too, for that matter) would want people to respect that.
Like what the actual fuck. Nothing has ever gotten me in a rage like seeing so-called “fans” swarming John in that terrifying youtube vid when he very clearly was asking people to stop and let him be. Best ways to respect John now:
Don’t repost photos taken after his retirement
Don’t watch videos taken after his retirement
Leave his family the hell alone about him on social media - his kids have an online presence, and that’s their choice, but it’s VERY clear they don’t want to be answering your Deacy questions, and are not going to respond to requests to post pics or videos or answer fan questions
Understand that we don’t know the inner workings of his mind or life. We don’t know:
What he did to cope with the death of his dear friend
How long he actively grieved his loss
How his loss affects his life today
And get this: IT IS NONE OF OUR FUCKING BUSINESS
Just because we are fans of what we have been able to see and learn about John through videos, interviews, lyrics/songs, etc., even the information Brian and Roger have shared, does NOT mean we are entitled to know anything about his life. Honestly, it’s even been hurtful to see Rog and Bri comment on how John handled things. They were his friends, but I really don’t think they had any right to say that he was “fragile” or speculate/share that he abused drugs and alcohol to cope, or anything like that. Being incredibly hurt by the loss of someone integral to the fabric of your life is NATURAL, whether you have a gentle demeanour or are an outspoken person, and everyone handles it in different ways. Again, not ours to know.
In conclusion, let John Deacon enjoy his life out of the spotlight, because that’s what he chose, and get the fuck over the idea that he (or anyone he continues to spend time with) owes you an explanation about what he’s up to. It’s okay to be curious and hope he’s doing well, but ultimately, we don’t have the right to know that.
RANT OVER.
Ahh, thanks for pointing out what has been bugging me about what Bri and Rog said, that always rubbed me the wrong way. I’ve never forgotten Rog’s ‘sociopath’ comment. Especially that they themselves are not saints either.
Brian: Here’s a song dedicated to my dead cat it’s called “All Dead All Dead”
Brian: And here’s a song dedicated to the sister I never had it’s called “Sail Away Sweet Sister.”
Brian: And here’s a song about a man who’s cursed with immortality and is forced to watch his beloved wife grow old and die it’s called “Who Wants To Live Forever?”
Me:
Brian: Here’s a song about space travelers who return to earth to find everyone they love dead, it’s called ‘39
Brian: Here’s a song with heavy religious imagery about the end of the fucking world based on a nightmare I had, it’s called the Prophet’s Song
Brian: Here’s a beautiful ballad about a women I love but both of us are hurting and the relationship ends, it’s called White Queen
Brian: Here’s a song about our nation’s/race’s long history of racism, genocide, and colonization, and my guilt about that fact, it’s called White Man
Brian: Here’s a song about gun control, it’s called Put Out The Fire
Brian: Here’s a song about adultery and being unable to be with the one you love, it’s called It’s Late
Brian: Here’s a song that has suicidal undertones about feeling cold and alone and needing somebody to love you, it’s called Save Me
Brian: Here’s a song about poverty and horrors across the globe, it’s called Is This The World We Created
Brian: Here’s a song about my friend and brother slowly dying, it’s called The Show Must Go On
Someone give him a hug, he’s not okay
THESE SONGS ARE WHY I LOVE BRIAN HAROLD MAY
If I’d just been a, say, bass player, all my life with the band, it wouldn’t be so satisfying to sit here now… I only considered that to be part of what I do… you know, actually writing songs and also being involved in the decision making processes, you know, all arguments or whatever, it- it’s nice. It really feels you’re part of the, you know, our own destiny, really.
Has it ever crossed your mind that one of John Deacon’s favorite songs is Rick James’ Super Freak, and that it’s the only non-Queen song included in Bohemian Rhapsody because Bri and Rog wanted to make John smile when he sees the movie?
bitch i’m crying
WWWWWHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Yo I researched this a bit and this came up:
“Like Under Pressure, Super Freak is built around a repetitive, idiosyncratic bass figure, but where Queen’s John Deacon’s lines have a certain melodic elegance, James’ completely disregard such sophistication. The lurching riff has a little pocket in the middle that stutters a dance step, and its rhythm might best be described as “bouncing.”

Look at this and tell me the song didn’t influence Deaky. Therefore I declare this fact QUEEN CANON. (Or we can ask Brian)
Bonus: random trivia from BoRhap’s IMDb page:
In a party scene at Freddie’s house captioned LONDON 1980, the tune Superfreak by Rick James was playing in the background. This was not released until a year later, 1981.
That time Roger got blown off his drum stool …
