Hello everyone <3
Ah, so nice to be here again! A lot happened in my life this part year, busy etc, and I ended up leaving my tumblr aside. Sidenote: so nice to see that many of my posts kept getting many reblogs - my one goal here was to spread info about these amazing women!

Remembering Marilyn Monroe on her birthday ❤️
“I never wanted to be Marilyn - it just happened. Marilyn’s like a veil I wear over Norma Jeane.”
Photographs taken by Lawrence Schiller on her 36th birthday on the set of Something’s Got to Give (June 1st, 1962)
Happy Birthday, Marilyn Monroe! (June 1st 1926 - ∞)
“Everybody knows about her insecurities, but not everybody knows what fun she was, that she never complained about the ordinary things of life, that she never had a bad word to say about anyone, and that she had a wonderful spontaneous sense of humor.” - Sam Shaw.

Interviewer: If I asked you what does it feel like being Marilyn Monroe, at this stage in your life, what would you answer? Marilyn Monroe: Well, how does it feel being yourself? Interviewer: Sometimes I’m content with myself, at other times I’m dissatisfied. Marilyn Monroe: That’s exactly how I feel. And are you happy? Interviewer: I think so. Marilyn Monroe: Well, I am too, and since I’m only 34 and have a few years to go yet, I hope to have time to become better and happier, professionally and in my personal life. That’s my one ambition. Maybe I’ll need a long time, because I’m slow. I don’t want to say that it’s the best method, but it’s the only one I know and it gives me the feeling that in spite of everything life is not without hope.

Marilyn Monroe reading Ulysses by James Joyce. Photographed in 1955 by Eve Arnold.
She kept ‘Ulysses’ in her car and had been reading it for a long time. She said she loved the sound of it and would read it aloud to herself to try to make sense of it–but she found it hard going. She couldn’t read it consecutively. When we stopped at a local playground to photograph she got out the book and started to read while I loaded the film. So, of course, I photographed her. ~ Eve Arnold.

“I refuse to let articles appear in movie magazines signed ‘By Marilyn Monroe’. I might never see that article and it might be okayed by someone in the studio. This is wrong because when I was a little girl read signed stories in fan magazines and I believed every word the stars said in them. Then I’d try to model my life after the lives of the stars I read about. If I’m going to have that kind of influence, I want to be sure it’s because of something I’ve actually said or written.” MARILYN MONROE (’Will Acting Spoil Marilyn Monroe’ by Pete Martin, 1956)
