Britain's Golden Girl Faces Trial - and Still has Secrets?
By Rita Skeeter
If you didn't know by now that Owana Potter - famed Auror, sister to the Chosen One, and all around forgettable witch - was recently scheduled to face trial for a crime then my dear reader, you've been living in a cave for the past few months. If you have committed to a new life as a hermit allow me to fill you in.
Owana Potter has killed someone.
That's right readers, one of our so-called War Heroes has murdered someone. Looks like her personality isn't as golden as her hair. The trial occurred just a few days ago in one of the deepest trials rooms reserved for only the fiendish of crimes, and it was attended by yours truly.
The murder apparently happened during one of Potter's Auror missions. They were tracking down the same bloke who tried to off Ron Weasley with a cursed letter ages ago. It was such a weak attempt, I'm surprised they didn't just let that go. But it's interesting that the idea that this man nearly killed Ron Weasley might have drove Ms Potter to murder - but more on that later.Â
I'll spare you the grisly details but basically the man who nearly killed everyone's favourite ginger was some ex-Death Eater nutter who recruited a Hogwarts drop-out to work on these dodgy weapons he was creating. One of them was a orb? Sphere? Whatever, a thing that exploded on contact. Owana Potter shot a disarming charm at the thing in the Death Eater's hand and -Â
Boom.Â
You can imagine.Â
Because it was "accidental" and really, no one is going to be sobbing their eyes out over one less mad man in the world, Ms Potter got off with only a two week probation and two hundred galleon fine. A far cry from the usual Azkaban sentence for murder.Â
But the story doesn't end here my lively readers. Since I was fortunate enough to witness the trial, I also got to witness the - well - witnesses.
And one of them was none other than Ron Weasley himself. Tall and gangly and freakishly freckled as ever - although with a bit more muscle mass, I will admit - he stepped down to give his account on what happened that night. Blah blah blah, boring, boring he said the same thing all the other witnesses said but Weasley goes a step further and mentions what happened back in the Ministry. Owana Potter allegedly ran off to the bathroom (To cry? To puke? To laugh maniacally? Who knows) and, in Weasley's words, "I comforted her."
He comforted her? Now what could that mean? Methinks Witch Weekly might have a new twosome to sink their teeth into - I mean, we're all getting pretty bored with Celestina Warbeck and her latest fifty year old boyfriend, aren't we?
Are Weasley and Potter meeting in Ministry bathrooms for secret tryst? If so, how can Ron Weasley live fact that he's romancing a woman who has killed someone? Unless the fact that she might have killed the Death Eater in his name softened that gulp of posion? And how will Harry Potter react to all of this? This is his sister and best friend we're talking about. He was at the trial, he heard everything. Could this ruin years of friendship?
I suggest keeping a close eye on these two.Â
WWW Owner's Son Caught in Explosion
George Weasley II, son of Fred Weasley and nephew of George Weasley, was admitted to St. Mungo's Hospital. It is unclear at this time what caused the explosion, but the young Weasley was found in the employees only section of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. It is possible he was experimenting for a future product line. The owners have declined to comment on the extent of the damage to the store.
Hayley Weasley, the boy's mother and a professor at Hogwarts, said,"Well, he was out for a couple days, but he’s come around now, and the healers have said that he’ll be alright. They’ll be keeping him for observation for a little while."
American Presidential Nominee Walker Campaigns for an End to the International Statute of Secrecy
Tracy Nakamura, Magical Associated Press Washington, D.C.
Presidential nominee Candice Walker, a member of the Muggle-Magical Freedom party, announced she would petition the International Confederation of Wizards(ICW) to abolish the International Statute of Secrecy (ISS) if elected. "If we pride ourselves on being 'the land of the free, home of the brave' how can we continue to cage ourselves and our potential?"said Walker. "How can we tell our children 'be good and kind and honest' and yet tell them they must hide an immensely important part of their lives from their muggle family members? It does not make sense. It is time to summon our courage and strength as a nation and put an end to the magical- muggle divide. Let us be people and beings united and dedicated to a better future."
Walker was an unexpected choice for the third largest magical political party in the United States. She has a record of tackling uncomfortable subjects in her 21 year career and has not shied away from criticism or addressing attacks upon her stances on political issues or her personal life. And this announcement suggests she has no plans to do so in the future.
Her speech was broadcast by the Wizarding Wireless Network to over 60 countries. Critics argue that even if the United States were to petition the ICW that a two-thirds majority of the countries within the organization would have to agree to such a vote for the ISS to be struck down. Former British Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge said,"It's a risky move, but very bold. And unmistakably deliberate. This early on in a campaign? Most people would be cautious. She is not. Which makes me wonder if presidency isn't her goal at all.Maybe, she simply wanted to get to this point.Maybe she simply wanted a moment where everyone would be watching."

"REVIEW YOUR ELEMENTARY WAND SAFETY RULES" - An Urgent Announcement from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement
In troubled times such as these, it seems pointless to try and remember such small rules (after all, who hasn't placed their wand in the back pocket time and time again), but the blatant disregard has started to put our Stature of Secrecy at risk.Â
Last week, around Charring Cross Road, known intersection near the famous Leaky Cauldron, a confused muggle was seen holding a wizard's wand calling it, "an oddly carved thing, isn't it?"
Three more instances of wands picked up by muggles have been reported in the past month. All are kept in the Ministry Atrium. They can be picked up but the owner will face a heavy fine for breeching our Stature of Secrecy.Â
Given the political statements of young witches and wizards nowadays, this might be a silent protest against the Stature itself.
"The Stature of Secrecy was created by old warlocks ages ago in Medieval times." an irate young witch comments, "Don't you think the Muggles have evolved since then? Why must we constrain ourselves to secrecy?"
But there are still others, still young people, who do not want to reveal the Wizarding World to our non-magical brethren.Â
"Has no one ever heard of the phrase, "Too much of a good thing?" A young man tells the Prophet, "Say we expose ourselves to the Muggles, who says they'll believe us? And what if they turn on us like they did all those years ago? Religion is still strong in their society, and while many are more far more accepting than in the past, can their tolerance go this far? And if it does, what's stopping them from demanding us to fix every little problem they have in their lives?"
Still, many counter that by saying wizards and muggles could bond together to save more lives than they could ever would separately.
Whatever the verdict turns out to be, the Stature of Secrecy is still in place and as such, keep a good hold on your wands!
Young Love:Two Great Wizarding Families Will Be Joined
by Artemis Williams
Scorpius Malfoy is following in his parents' footsteps by choosing an unexpected match. The young Malfoy is engaged to Louis Weasley. I was able to sit down with the two lovebirds.
Their's is a story not of love at first sight, but of long friendship blossoming into unexpected romance. The two first met at a Weasley family gathering when Scorpius was five years old. Scorpius mother is of course,Hermione Malfoy nee Granger who is close friends with Ron Weasley.Â
" I can’t say that we were that close to Louis’s side of the family, just mostly Harry and Ron’s family. My father, Draco Malfoy, wasn’t at all keen of become somewhat best buddies with them and I can’t say I blame him. They are a crazy lot!"said Scorpius Malfoy. He went on to explain they first became friends at the age of 6 when he convinced Louis to climb to the rooftop of the Burrow. The Burrow is home to Louis Weasley's grandparents and the site of many Weasley family gatherings.
Interest between the two was kindled many years later around their sixth year."I knew I like men quite early on, but Scorp, however, did not,"said Louis.
"It was all my fault if I’m honest,""said Scorpius."I can’t remember exactly when but I had managed to taunt Louis into using his … alluring skills into making me place a move on him. So yes, I’m not going to go into the details." Louis remembers the event a little differently.
"I was feeling a bit giddy so I wanted to try out the little bit of Veela charm that I have on him,"said Louis, his maternal great-grandmother was a Veela."He followed me and pushed me into the nearest broom closet."
Our conversation turned to how their friendship gradually developed into something richer and wonderful.
"It was probably when he just started to hang around with me a lot more than previously,"said Scorpius. "I 'Hey, wait a minute. This best friend of mine likes me?'."
"In the beginning stages, it was very shallow and didn’t really mean anything, I think,"said Louis. "But very quickly it grew bigger and deeper. "
"It was a pretty awesome feeling,"added Scorpius,"especially when Louis would just kiss me out of the blue when we were walked down the hallways of the castle."
The reaction of their families has varied, but for the most part the response has been positive. The area of most concern seemed to be their fathers.
"I am almost sure that he would have chopped off my head if my mother had not been there when I broke the news to them,"said Scorpius."You would think I’m joking! But I’m really not."
"Most of my friends and family were happy for me,"said Louis."I haven’t spoken to my dad yet, and neither has Scorp, so we’ll see where that ends up..."
"My mother was just pleased for me. I think she was happy that I had finally met someone I truly care about,"said Scorpius." My friends...just accepted it and I’m glad for that."
I asked them when they realized they had found their soul mate.
"I think I’ve always had a feeling like that, but I’ve never thought that in particular,"said Louis."I just knew that this is where it was heading."
"This might sound really cheesy,"warned Scorpius."but it was when I would wake up one morning with Louis next to me in my arms, with the sunlight on his face and it would be there when I would think that I could wake up to that every day."
At this point, I was a little unfair and shot off a barrage of questions about their future plans. Scorpius plans to climb the ranks at the ministry.Louis intends to pursue a career as a heale after graduation. Both agree children are an adventure they don't intend on jumping into any time soon.
"Merlin, I’m pretty sure none of us are thinking about that at the time being,"said Scorpius.
"Maybe in 10 years or so,"said Louis. but… I will, though, move into Scorp’s flat and I think I’ll be the one changing my surname. Louis Malfoy. Has a nice ring to it, right?"
Their families haven't tried to give them annoying wedding advice just yet. The two did admit they'd leave some of the wedding planning to female relatives. No date has been set yet. "At the moment, we’re just enjoying the fact that some time in the future, we will be together and we will be married,"said Scorpius."For now, that’s all that matters to me. Once we get more secure in our jobs and in a place to live, that will be when we’ll get married."
And now for a little question and answer fun:
If your partner was an animal what would he be?
Malfoy:A weasel for sure.Â
Weasley:I’m leaning towards a snake but that would be too cold and all that… So maybe a snake crossed with a really cuddly puppy.Â
If you could describe him in a word or phrase?
Malfoy:I’m not sure one word would do him justice but … magnificent.Â
Weasley:There’s loads of good words to describe him with so I’m just going to go with perfect.Â
How are you feeling right now in a word or phrase?
Malfoy:Relieved that these questions have finished. i kid you.
Weasley:Blissfully happy but slightly worried.
Raelyn Weasley- Misunderstood or Murderer?
By Eliza Skeeter
Raelyn Weasley, aged 19, fiance to one Caelum Malfoy, has long been a troublemaker. Receiving more than her fair share of detentions throughout her Hogwarts career, the young witch was definitely one to watch. "She was always causing mischief," remarks a former classmate, who has requested to remain anonymous. "All the others followed her blindly, wrecking havoc wherever they went. Didn't stop as we got older, neither. She and that Caelum bloke did the nasty on the Quidditch Pitch- in broad daylight. Middle of the classday. Poor first years got an eyeful." Sex on a Quidditch Pitch? In broad daylight? Seems there's more to Miss Weasley's story than we originally thought.
Fortunately, I was able to speak to one Madame Pomfrey, the resident healer at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Raelyn was her assistant throughout her sixth and seventh years, in preparation for a career as a mediwitch and dragon keeper. "Oh, Ray is such a lovely girl. Always willing to help." She said, looking fondly at a picture of the young redhead (now blonde). When asked if any unusual changes occurred around her, the matron immediately shook her head but frowned, thinking deeply. "Now that you mention it, she was rather pale in the days up to graduation. She bruised easily, too. Always wearing a scarf, in the summer heat, too! Said she had a cold, but she wouldn't let me near her. I always wondered what that was about." The healer tittered and waved me out, unknowingly giving me the key to the puzzle that is the mind of Raelyn Weasley.
Pale complexion, unusual bruising, reluctance for human contact, and lastly, hiding of her neck. Raelyn Weasley was dealing with vampires. Not just any vampires, either. The same one(s) who would later go on to commit the La Roix crimes, though young Miss Weasley would have no way of knowing that yet. That knowledge would come later, as both she and her then-boyfriend, Mr. Malfoy, were admitted to St. Mungo's- for  a suspected vampire attack. This reporter was lucky enough to sneak a peak into the pair's files, a shocking sight indeed.  According to the mediwitch's report, Caelum Malfoy arrived in their care nearly dead of blood loss, sporting two identical fang marks on his neck.
Upon further examination, Miss Weasley showed the marks as well, though hers were less recent. According to the report, "it seems as if she has been fed on by multiple vampires, or at the very least, one vampire many may times." Â Concerning, indeed. Was Miss Weasley simply looking for attention, or was she revealing her inner darkness as well?
Several months later, as the La Roix massacres continued, the Auror Squad assigned to the case caught and nearly fatally wounded the vampire they believed to be the culprit, a young french female of unknown appearance or name. Shooting her with wooden bullets laced with vervain, the hunters hoped to apprehend the monster at last.Â
And they would have, had it not been for Miss Weasley. From what Ministry Analysts can gather from the scene, Miss Weasley grabbed the unknown vampire and apparated them both to safety, leaving nothing but her magical signature- as unique an identifier as any has.Â
Since having disappeared, Miss Weasley is a Person of Interest in the current La Roix string of murders, as well as several before that. A warrant for her arrest has been placed on the grounds of harboring a fugitive, suspected murder, and misuse of magic under the International Statue of Secrecy.
Miss Weasley is considered to be armed and dangerous, and if the evidence presented here is of any merit, quite the mastermind. Any sightings or information about Miss Weasley or the La Roix murders is to be reported directly to the Auror Office in the Ministry of Magic.
(When asked to comment for this article, Owana and Ronald Weasley, Miss Weasley's parents, offered only this in return: Wherever she is, whatever she's done, she's our daughter. We have always loved her and always will. Now bugger off.")
New Member to the Weasley/Potter Clan - But All is Not Well for the Golden Family
It looks like the Sorting Hat will have yet another Weasley to place in a house in eleven years time. On March 11, the war-heros-turned-Aurors Ron and Owana Weasley welcomed their fourth and, some sources say, their final child to their family, this time a boy.
"They're definitely happy about this baby," says a coworker of the Weasleys in the Auror offices "But I'm pretty sure I heard Owana mutter something about getting her tubes tied afterwards."Â
While the Healers are forbidden to reveal personal information about the mother and the newborn, they do disclose that the baby is healthy and "seems to already be working up quite an appetite". Not hard to when your father is Ron Weasley.
Both Weasleys have refused to let the press in for pictures but did reveal that the boy's name is Damien and that they are thankful for any well-wishes they receive.Â
And perhaps this joyous occasion was well-timed, given the turmoil the Weasleys must be in over their oldest daughter. Raelyn Weasley, a recent Hogwarts graduate, has been labeled as wanted for hiding a fugitive and even suspected murder. She's been rumoured to be linked to the notorious vampire who unleashed a reign of terror unseen since the likes of Jack the Ripper (a Muggle serial killer) and Fenrir Greyback several months ago.Â
Despite not wanting to comment, the pressure and demands of the public became too much for Owana Weasley.
"Even if my daughter is not innocent." she told the press, "but she is no murderer."Â
The staff here at the Daily Prophet wish the Weasleys the best with the new child and an answer to their eldest's dilemma.
