Lin Beifong was usually a commanding, direct woman, amazing at interrogations, and the chief of police at the Republic City police department, eldest daughter of the famed Toph Beifong.
But despite all of these formidable titles, you seemed to be her weakness.
All her titles and epithets fell away when she was with you, and she was just Lin. Your doting wife.
There was something about you, maybe that familiar, cute expression that came onto your features when you were asking her if you would look good in X, Y, or Z.
Or maybe it was the lull of pride, satisfaction that came in waves to her brain when she saw you in a piece that she had bought, or using her money for something that would bring you joy.
Basically, she spoiled you rotten, firstly because she liked to, and secondly because she...was barely home. She couldn't bear to think about you, only catching glimpses of her every day, bored and lonely.
She was a Beifong, after all. There wouldn't be any qualms about you getting the treatment you deserved, and not a scratch to her bank account.
"Would you like a new necklace, darling? You only have one made of diamonds...Another wouldn't be so bad, hm?'" She said, her voice almost uncharacteristically soft.
You were both curled into your bed, after she had gotten home from the station.
It was well into the night, both of you ready to doze off, fighting sleep to stay in each other's presence longer.
Her hand lightly traced over your waist, where she had been holding you, reluctant to move.
"Another necklace? Hm…alright. But only because there's another banquet that we need to attend soon. You spoil me too much, my love.” You murmured drowsily, a slightly amused hum leaving your lips.
Even you, the picture of pampered, saw that sometimes your wife could go overboard with the amount of gifts she would give you.
You accepted them happily every time, though.
Your wife nodded her head with quiet satisfaction, her hands that were on your waist pulling you closer to her chest.
“Sleep. I don't want to keep you up longer.” She murmured quietly, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
Seriously, you should've been saying that to her. She had work again early in the morning, as always.
You lay your head on the familiar curve of her neck, pressing a light kiss to her skin, before finally allowing yourself to fall asleep, warm in her strong arms.
Lin smiles slightly as you finally fall asleep, hand moving up to trace over your collarbones, where your new necklace would soon rest in a few days.
Every time you slept, you had to have some sort of contact with each other.
No matter how much, it was one of the only times Lin allowed herself to be vulnerable (besides other encounters with you)...
After making sure you were asleep, your wife finally allowed her drowsiness to creep up on her, pine green eyes closing as she fell into a deep, satisfied slumber.
This is a work in progress. I still need to shade it and add something that will be a surprise. I may change the hair, tho. There's something about it that bugs me, but my hands are cramping now, so that will have to wait for another day.
