For the fic title ask: the stars are falling (and so am I).
Oh- for this one I would want something that revolves around an actual life shattering event not only falling in love
Something that would change the stars and bring two people closer….
Lin felt weightless as she hugged the metal wrapped around her body tight. She closed her eyes tight and tried to breathe as the wind picked up around her and Suyin. The arm had detached! Lin heard the whistle of the wind as they flew through the air and she braced herself for impact.
Lin’s ears were ringing, her head hurt like hell, but as she tried to open her eyes she became aware of a hand on her face and a panicked voice. She couldn’t make out the words. As she tried to open her eyes again streaks of light darted across her vision. The images before her swam and rolled with blurry colors and shapes.
“Lin! Lin please, please wake up!” The voice was closer now, the hand tapping her face firmly to try to wake her as a soft cool came across one side of her face. She realized the cool was a stark contrast to a warmth falling down her face, catching her right eye as it rolled.
“Lin,” a broken sob this time Lin tried to make herself focus but her head, oh her head hurt so badly. Her vision was clearing up as the cool sensation stayed on her head and slowly the pain ebbed away. Lin looked to the shape before her and couldn’t stop her smile when she saw Kya.
“Kya,” her voice was a whisper, worried anything more and her head would start to hurt again.
“Oh thank the spirits!” Kya gasped as she cupped Lin’s face and saw Lin come back to herself in her eyes. “I was so worried.”
“If you two are done, we’re still stuck here!” Suyin interrupted now she knew Lin was okay. Lin had metal bend the lifesaving restraint around her arms so she couldn’t metal bend out of it. She’s been trying.
Lin shifted and struggled to free her and her sister. Soon enough the metal shifted and the two girls were free, Lin however was still woozy and stumbled, Kya was there by her side helping her stand.
Just as the three were about to leave the arm the world was washed in a purple light.
They heard building collapse as a large explosion swept the area. The three were thrown back into the arm as the shockwave pushed through the area.
Their ears rang loudly as slowly they moved to leave the robot arm to see what had happened. A large yellow spirit portal reached into the sky in the middle of Republic city!
“What has that brat done this time?!” Lin growled as they all started moving towards the new portal.
Later on that night after Kuvira was in custody and the city was as picked up as they were gonna get it, Lin watched out her window as spirits soared through the sky like stars and lights.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Kyas voice roused her from her thoughts.
“Yeah, I had always wanted to see the Northern lights,” Lin smiled as she glanced at Kya then back to the sky. “I’m sure I’ll get used to it at some point. This looking like our new normal…” Lin shrugged. She felt the bed shift under Kya’s weight as she moved to sit next to her.
“You had me worried Lin.” Kya said softly. Lin looked to her and to Kya’s shock, there was an apologetic look on Lin’s face.
“Thank you, for healing me up out there.” Lin moved to gently touch the back of Kya’s hands. “I think we’d still be there if it weren’t for you.”
Kya smiled gently and turned her hand under Lin’s to lace their fingers together.
“I’m glad I found you.” Kya agreed.
Lin smiled gently and looked at the light reflecting in Kya’s eyes. A million stars held in irises of pale blue.
Lin leaned forward closer to Kya as she looked to her eyes. Kya found herself being pulled closer to Lin. She almost the earth bender was pulling her in for a hug but then….
“May I kiss you?” Lin asked looking Kya in the eye. Kya felt the world freeze around her and all she could think of was the woman before her…. who wanted to kiss her.
“Y-yes of course.” Kya nodded and leaned into Lin. Lin smiled and caught Kya’s lips with her own.
Outside the stars seemed to be falling through the night sky in a display that has never been seen in the city. But the two women were lost in a world of their own for tonight.
