it wasn’t often that he bothered to lock the bathroom door when he stepped in to have a shower, especially when to his knowledge he didn’t have any guests coming over. unless they were there for his roommate, it would be a total surprise to him. lost in his own thoughts as the door cracked open, it didn’t appeal to him to speak until he heard foot steps, “welcome?”

Mina was beginning to think that perhaps this was a prank, they told her this was where the study group meeting was but she was very doubting that, especially when the only thing she could hear was water running, stopping in her tracks when she heard a voice. “Hello?” She called out, clenching her eyes shut in embarrassment. “I’m here for the study group?”

pandora was so happy that not only had she grown up with mina, but they had gone to the same school, meaning if either of them had an issue they had their best friend there to help. once the pair were settled in her room she sat up and looked at her friend. “honestly, rehearsal, boys, and ignoring my actual classwork.” the blonde laughed. “so my normal routine.” she teased. “what about you?” 

Mina couldn’t help but laugh softly at her friends antics, not that they shocked her, that is where they had always been the opposites of one another but for some reason, it just seemed to work and always had. “Sounds like the same old with you, Panda.” Mina teased as she fell onto the bed next to her best friend. “Well, I finally worked up the courage to speak to Justin.” She sighed, wanting to wipe that conversation from her memory. “Other then that, nothing exciting with me.”

“Yeah, my dad is in that field and it always interested me,” He’s seen his dad change kids lives over the years, and honestly his dad was his hero growing up and now he’s the reason he wants to become someone else’s hero. “Oh cool, as a diplomat?” 

Mina smiled softly as she pushed open the door of the sorority, almost relieved to not see any of her sisters around. “That’s lovely, my dad is a Doctor. I remember he worked with Doctors without borders for a year- he said it was the best decision he ever made.” She informed him as she motioned for him to follow her down the hallway where her room was. “Maybe, or perhaps something more behind the scenes, like an advisor or something.”

aalayah looked around and shrugged. “so? you don’t need to like anyone else. just because people are following a pattern, that doesn’t mean you should. if you’re comfortable dressing like this, than it’s fine – i know i sound like a mom or something like that, but it is true”. the girl pushed her hair behind her ears and smiled softly; “i don’t even want to know how they managed to buy this, but i guess there is something non-alcoholic somewhere. wanna find it?”. 

Staring down at her dress once more and sighing. Mina wasn’t used to standing out in this sense, she was used to standing out because everyone knew her, not in this sense- it was a foreign concept to her. “I know, but I’m not used to feeling like a fish out of water.” Mina admitted, biting down into her lower lip once more. “I’d just be happy with a simple beer or maybe even a wine cooler. I’ve learned to not trust pre-mixed drinks around here.”

justin flicked a brow up, biting lips together. “technically i was free to do anything, anyone is but it’s ones decision if they do or not and i didn’t. i was being mature, loyal and perhaps not the best boyfriend material but i was never anything but nice and respectful to you.” the massive rumors of him cheating and fucking around was nothing that came as a surprise back then. had he ever been tempted? sure. did the think about it? yes. justin was the definition of a fuck boy back then and so was his popular boy squad but he knew it was wrong so he had never. worst thing he might’ve ever done was hold another girl by the waist, perhaps kissed their cheek or even hugged them but he didn’t consider that as cheating. “high school sweethearts rarely make it, we weren’t special in the end and turned out to be like the rest.” he shrugged. good times always ended badly.

the jock scratched the side of his head when jumping up to sit on the table as he kept an eye on her. she was right. mina wasn’t known for her flirty ways and his group of friends asked him several times if they were really dating cause in many ways she hadn’t been his type yet she had. “perhaps not flirty but interesting enough to get my attention.” right to the point. a deep breath. mina had shown signs of jealously even perhaps even slight sides of being possessive but he had never thought more of it. justin was according to people online a socialmedia influencer with his 300k+ instagram followers, half a million subscribers on youtube and somewhat same number of followers on twitter. he had been doing this for years and never thought that some girls online would cause such an issue.

“if it makes you feel a bit better i didn’t really care what anyone thought but it’s nice when someone does.” he shouldn’t have said that. it was like his asshole side just shined through. “.. didn’t mean it like that.” yet he did. “and that pisses me off, it should work in my favor and most of the time it does. the law of attraction.” placing the solo cup next to him when really looking at her and even if he wasn’t the type to apologize because he wasn’t, he wanted to make one thing sure cause it was his image and she was someone who had meant something. “i don’t know what made you dump me but i’ll tell you this, i never cheated on you. no matter how many rumors you heard, that were spread and whoever chick at school started it saying i slept with her.” happened more than once.

Mina stared at Justin for a moment, did he still really think that she broke up with him because of all the rumors that the jealous girls in their school tried to start? Sure, he wasn’t exactly the best boyfriend but she was smart enough to figure out that he had never actually cheated on her. She would’ve found out by now if actually had and all the rumors that had swirled around about them had never ended anywhere reputable. Just girls trying to cause friction between them, not knowing that it was already there between them. “We were in a relationship. That doesn’t exactly mean you were free to do whatever you wanted or whoever you wanted.” She pointed out, wondering if that had been his attitude the entire relationship then it was no wonder they hadn’t lasted. Letting out a small, sarcastic laugh at his words as she nodded her head. “I’m so glad that you considered me interesting enough to hold your attention.” She said in a low voice, looking around to make sure that no one was listening in on their conversation. She didn’t need people making assumptions about their already slightly sour parting. “but if I remember correctly, you were the one who chased me, not the other way around.” She added, pointing a finger at him for a moment. “Meaning it was you who had to capture my attention and you did in the end.” Smiling softly at him. Not every memory in their relationship was bad, she had some good ones- their first date, just the two of them hanging out, watching movies in her room, the night she lost her virginity to him, dragging him to family dinners, those were the memories she wanted to hold on to. “I know you never cheated on me.” Mina told him, and she truly believed it. That wasn’t why their relationship ended- if he had cheated, she wouldn’t be standing here having this conversation with him. “I just felt like I was competing for your attention with thousands of people online and that gets exhausting after awhile.” She answered honestly, perhaps this was the most truthful she had been with him since they had broken up. “I know you expect the world to always work how you want it to- you ending the relationships, the girl still pining after you but that isn’t the case here. I ended things because it was the best decision for me and I’m sorry if you still hold some bitterness towards it but you would have done exactly the same thing.”

being here … at this fancy party wasn’t really chase’s scene … don’t get her wrong, she enjoyed getting all dressed up and going to parties and all that … but when it came to being classy like a black and white dress kind of party … chase felt sort of … out of place. she has been to many of these things, and still has a hard time adjusting. her hair is in mid pony, her dress falling short just above her knees, blue eyes spot someone she knows from her sorority … but at the same time … justin’s ex. now chase wasn’t the one to be bitter about her boyfriend’s exes … but she still felt … worried. approaching the other blonde, she gives her a soft smile, “you doing okay ?” 

The last person that Mina had expected to see or more importantly, wanted to see at the party was Justin’s current girlfriend- Chase. Quickly smoothing out her pink dress as the other blonde approached her and did her best to smile. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She said brightly. The last thing she wanted was this girl, of all people, to see her in a vulnerable moment at a party. Mina was supposed to be the elusive ex who ended it all with Chase’s current boyfriend, wasn’t she? “Just got a little overwhelmed with all the people here.” She added, still smiling at the female. “How are you?” She asked, figuring the best thing to do was be polite.

“ HEY ! the fuck you doing?” the brunette hissed out, leather jacket thrown over her shoulder, heading full speed to the person that’s uncomfortably close to her motorcycle. “you the shit bag who’s been fucking with my bike?” fists clenched as she glared down the other, brow raised. “hm?”

Mina had been scrolling casually through her phone as she walked through the college parking lot, heading towards her own car. Letting out a groan as the keys slipped from her hand, forcing her to bend down and retrieve the keys that had fallen near the bikes. Shooting back up and whirling around when she heard an aggressive voice. “What?!” She asked in shock, holding the keys tightly in her hand. “No, I dropped my keys.” She explained. “Why would I want to mess with your motorbike? I don’t even know you.”

“With my current dry spell, I might as well just sign up for farmersonly.com and call it a day. Honestly why is it so hard to find a decent guy that likes to take showers in a college campus. Maybe I should just give up on men entirely, and become a nun or something.”

“Well, I mean it is high school.” Mina said with a simple shrug. She’d had low expectations of the males in college even before she had started attending UCLA but they had dropped even lower once she actually started attending college. “Hardly any of them are looking for anything serious.”

pandora had been home for all of five minutes when someone knocked on the door, the timing wasn’t exactly the best, seeing as she was stood in her shorts and sports bra but once she heard the voice of her best friend she grinned, running to the door half naked and throwing it open. “mina thank god, it has been a million years.” she didn’t even care that she didn’t have her t-shirt on, minas was used to it by now. “come on in.” she said finally, stepping to the side before shutting the door behind her friend and then flopping on her bed. 

Mina couldn’t help but laugh when her best friend finally opened her door. Laughing as she returned the tight hug that Pandora offered her. She definitely needed this, a night where she just sat down with her oldest friend and pushed aside all the negative things that she had been feeling as of late. “It does feel like a million years.” She laughed as she stepped into Panda’s room, shutting the door gently behind her. Glancing around her friends room and noticing the stark contrast in their rooms but that’s how their friendship had always worked. “What’s been going on?” Mina asked curiously, placing the backpack down and pulling out a packet of biscuits and throwing it on her friends bed.

Smiling to herself as Mina approached Pandora’s door, it felt like weeks since she had last spent time with her closest childhood friend and a catch up between them was very much needed. Readjusting the backpack that had all the guilty snacks in it as she stood in front of her friends door, knocking gently. “Panda?” She asked, glancing around to see if anyone else was snooping around to see what was going on. “It’s Mina, can I come in?” She asked, tapping her foot as she waited for Pandora to answer the door or let Mina in.

Queenie: i've never heard a guy call it sexy twister though so he gets a few points for creativity i guess

Mina: I think he was. I mean, the idea of playing twister in your underwear with other people just sounds weird.

Mina: I thought it was a common name? He acted like it was.

Mina: I know but playing sexy twister with someone? I feel it would just be awkward.

“It’s sometimes nice to not know anyone at a party.” he answered as he smiled softly at the girl.  For him, it’s an opportunity to break out from your shell, to branch out and meet new interesting people that you might became friends or foes in the future. “And it’s also lovely to meet you, Mina.” he said, his gaze following her move. He then almost forgot the camera slinging on his shoulder. It would be a shame to not take a picture of a beautiful blonde girl. And so, he got his camera and took a stolen shot of her. “A stunning lady like you doesn’t have a boyfriend? That’s weird.” 

“It is nice to not know every single person in the room.” Mina admitted, though she did miss the comfort of the neighborhood parties back home, where she felt completely at ease. “Though I sometimes feel like everyone is a lot more.. mature than I am.” She confessed before I could stop herself, suddenly glad that the darkness hid the redness that formed on her cheeks from the confession. Though the embarrassment was quickly replaced by a flush at his words. “Oh!” she giggled, no doubt sounding like a little school girl. “That’s really sweet of you but there are plenty of beautiful women around here.” She admitted. Often feeling like a little girl in comparison to some of the females that she saw walking around campus, even some of her own sorority sisters. “What about you? Where’s your girlfriend?” She questioned, hoping that he would inform her that he didn’t have one. Surely he wouldn’t be so flirty with her, if he had one, right?

“Not at all,” he said his eyes going wide at the idea of being a social worker, “I was thinking more of a cop specifically in dealing with troubled kids.” 

Smiling at him as she walked up the steps of the sorority, motioning for him to follow her. “That’s a very noble career to want.” Mina answered honestly. “I’ve always liked the idea of working for the UN.”

“I’m Criminal Justice, not sure what I want to do yet, I’m debating taking up a minor in social work, but between classes and soccer I’m not sure if I have the time.” 

Mina nodded her head eagerly, it felt nice talking to someone new- not the same people like she always did. “I considered criminal justice myself, but I don’t think I have the stomach for it.” She confessed with a small laugh, nodding as they approached her sorority house. “Are you interested in being a social worker?”
