Established in 1992 The Academy (formerly Minnesota Martial Arts Academy) is a one of a kind facility that specializes in realistic martial arts training for fitness, self-defense, and competition. Our blend of traditional and contemporary martial arts provides students with a unique and effective self-defense program and a means for overall personal development. The Academy is headed by Coach Greg Nelson. Mr. Nelson has trained in the following martial art forms: Jun Fan, Filipino Kali, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do, Maphilindo Silat, Shoot Wrestling, Combat Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (2nd degree Black Belt, highest ranking in Minnesota). He has taught defensive tactics to the FBI, DEA and Federal Air Marshals and is a combatives consultant for classified US Army Special Forces, 75th Ranger Battalion, US Army Combatives School Instructors and the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (SEAL team 6).
