Force of Nature: Mother Nature Furiously Spins the Earth
Italian sculptor Lorenzo Quinn sculpted his project Force of Nature I and II, after being a witness to the devastating destruction of hurricanes in Thailand and in the Southern United States. Constructed from bronze, stainless steel and aluminum, the work reflects nature’s perceived powerful energy, which is unpredictable, beautiful, yet dangerous. By omitting Mother Nature’s face, Quinn reminds us that there is no sense of security or protection from the Earth itself. We are not in control, sudden destruction awaits at any time.

So lately, I’ve been overly obsessed with The Young Blood Chronicles. It’s a Fall Out Boy’s music film from the music videos of their Save Rock and Roll album.
The obsessive isn’t unusual however, I do it with other artist like Stromae and Panic! at the Disco. But The Young Blood Chronicles, is unique, with curious videos and addictive beats typical of FOB. While sometimes the video content freaks me out (Looking at you ‘Young Volcanoes’), the rest of it is pretty cool and refreshing. I find I adore ‘Young Volcanoes’ and ‘Where Did the Party Go’, because the vocals and beat is quick without an overly heavy pop feel (at least to me).
I’ve never been a huge Courtney Love fan, so I wasn’t overly into finding out she performs in it, but I admit her vocals really suit Rat-a-tat and I still end up liking the song. ‘Save Rock and Roll’ is good and I like it more for the video (because seriously, the end bit with Elton John and blood? His face) but the song is also enjoyable, with John’s vocal adding a nice support to Patrick’s.
Anyway, I figured it was time to actually do a post about something on this blog, and I happened to be listening to Young Blood. (Clicking the name will take you to the Uncut Long form video on youtube.)
