“I mean, it’s definitely a workout. Won’t have to go to the gym today.” He shook his head, grumbling a little. Not that he ever went to the gym. It was cheating, kind of- but he could just shapeshift to the size he wanted to be. “Aren’t you used to space battles and things like that? This is kind of... kids league.”

“gimmie all your money” kate teased using a finger gun as her weapon. “it’s like one bad thing happens and they all come out crawling from their lairs.” she complained to her friend finally taking a break herself. “and they’re all so dumb, like at least give me a challenge or something. i wanna do trick shots while falling from a building, not walking into every corner store and punching whoever is elbow deep in the cash drawer.”

“Oh, I am so scared.” He said, voice deadpan, before he broke out into a smile. “I know that. It’s not even hard, it’s just annoying. Me and Billy were meant to be going on a date the night when all this crap started.” He shrugged a little. “Don’t speak too soon, you never know- you might get your chance.”

Nico quietly wandered the streets, the low light from the lap gave a somewhat eerie vibe. her lips tugged into a small smirk when she heard the voice from behind her, “debatable, depends on who you consider bad.”

“Hey, Nico,” Teddy grinned, shaking his head a little. “You planning on stabbing me? Shooting me? Calling me names? Trying to mug me? No? Then I think we’re good,” he chucked a bit, and looked around. “I was gonna go get something to eat, wanna come with?”

After breaking up the fourth mugging of the night, as much as he wanted to keep going, Teddy knew he had to call it a night and head home. In all the chaos, it wasn’t even just the masked man’s thugs the superheroes had to deal with- the city’s less favourable aspects had decided to come out and play.

“Jeez, is there anyone left in this city who isn’t a bad guy?”

Jay had yet to notice things completely falling apart just yet. It was just his luck the store he was in was one of the first hit. As he began to stop the man robbing the store, he unloaded a shotgun into his chest. Much to Jay’s surprise, the wound healed almost immediately, the buckshot falling to the floor as the wound healed. He felt a rush of energy as his wings forcibly unfurled, and he noted they were slightly bigger than normal, having shredded his shirt as the wingspan opened. He then punched the robber in the gut, eyes widening as the man went flying through the window and halfway across the street. Jay stepped out with a hum, noting the other had witnessed the goings on. 

“Alright, in my defense, first, that fucker shot me,” he began, pointing to the black mark on his chest. “And second, he went a lot further than he was supposed ta.”

He’d just been walking down the street when everything went to hell. Three explosions, then his phone started talking to him- and then a man flew through the window of the building he was walking past. 

Staring into the now-broken window, he saw a winged man with buckshot falling out of his chest. Honestly, it wasn’t even even the weirdest thing he’d seen this week, though it was certainly the most violent. 

“You’re the good guy here, right? I don’t have to beat your ass for that?” He asked, shifting to his green, Skrull-lite form. He let his wings out too- just in case there was an air based fight, he didn’t want to be caught short.

“yeah? well, it’s not much, but it’s the best bar in new york- at least, in my opinion.” she joked, then she chuckled, “well, you should bring him in sometime when you’re not tired of each other. i’m tobin. hottest bartender at the hottest bar in the city.”

“I’ll definitely have to come here more often then,” he grinned back, taking another sip of his beer. “I will, for sure. He sometimes likes a party, So we’ll see. It’s nice to meet you, Tobin.” He settled a little on the barstool, wondering what to say next. It had been a while since he’d done anything but super-smalltalk.

“Oh god you don’t want that guy rubbing off on you, you’re too nice for that’ he said forcing a smile, Alex really wasn’t a morning person “I can guarantee if you appear with a tray of Starbucks coffee you’ll be the most favourite person of the entire faculty” he said as he poured his own attempt of coffee in a cup, wincing as he lifted his arm

“Hey, he’s my boyfriend’s not-twin, he’s not so bad,” he shrugged a little. He might tease and argue with Tommy, but they were pretty close. “I’ll make sure to do that next time,” Teddy nodded, smiling. He wasn’t so much a morning person, but Billy had woken him up extra early, so he’d had time to get his morning face out of the way. “So, uh, speaking of faculty... You only teach mutants, right?”

His eyes tried to focus on the other person’s lips as they talk, and he makes out most of the words, but one of them just doesn’t make sense. “I’m sorry can you say that again?” Clint asks them nicely. Usually he’s pretty good at this sort of thing, but there’s always some words that are just too similar. He had a cup of warm coffee in his left hand, so he lifts it up to take a small sip as he waits, observing his company still. 

His only explanation for forgetting was that he was just plain exhausted, and he shook his head slightly to try and clear out the cobwebs. Teddy brought his hands up and started to sign. “Sorry, man. I was just saying, I’m applying to colleges and stuff- the superhero thing is good and all, but just sitting around the house when a catastrophe isn’t kicking off? It’s just..” He shrugged. “How are you?”

“Someone’s in a state the obvious mood” he grumbled in return as the water came to a boil “That was how it looked like when I found it” he shrugged “And after a run in with a sentinel last night the last thing I need is uncooperative kitchen utensils when I just need a coffee”

“Tommy’s rubbed off on me, clearly,” Teddy said, rolling his eyes. “Me and Bills are lucky, I guess- Sentinels leave him alone, for the most part.” He nodded a little. “Next time Billy needs to do something at the mansion, I’ll make sure to bring coffee from a Starbucks or something on my way?”

Alex grumbled as he looked down at the broken kettle, the cord cut that would stop his water from boiling, this was not how he needed his morning to go. Groaning he set his hand around the kettle and as his hand began to glow the water in the kettle quickly began to heat up “Fuck this day already” he groaned believing himself to be alone

“Someone’s in a bad mood.” Teddy chuckled softly, walking over to frown at the clearly cut cord. “Who did that? Seems like a weird thing to do, or is that just a thing that happens around you?”

tobin nodded, “yeah, i most definitely know what you mean. comin’ to work sometimes feels like an escape. i love my roommate and everything, but we tired of one another pretty sick sometimes. we’re like an old married couple or somethin, i swear.” she chuckled, “glad you could fit in some time to relax.” she nodded at his drink

“I’ve been wondering about coming here for a while,” he shrugged a little. “I love my boyfriend, I really do, but-” Teddy chuckled a little. “You know the score. Seeing the same person day in, day out, it could drive anyone crazy. I’m Teddy.”

tobin gave him a quick nod, “just a beer. ok, that’s four dollars.” she told him before turning and grabbing one. she popped the cap off on the edge of the bar and slid it to him, “i don’t see ya in here a lot, special occasion?” she asked

He paid, smiling a little as he took his beer. “Not really, just- needed to get out of the house, y’know? I spend too long copped up in there.” Teddy said, taking a sip. He only really got out when he was being Hulkling, or when Billy dragged him out- and as much as he loved him, they needed some time out of each other’s pockets.

tobin wiped down the bar, picking up a few dollar bills and coins and stuffing them into the tip jar and tossing the towel onto the back counter before turning to the person in front of her, “so, what can i get ya? hope you haven’t been waitin’ too long, it’s been a busy night.”

“Just a beer, thanks,” Teddy smiled. He hadn’t been waiting very long, and it had been nice to be on his own with his thoughts for a while- although it was pretty busy. He didn’t often go to bars, but whenever he did, it always seemed to go wrong somehow.

“Babe? Do you know where the nice purple shirt I like ended up after the party?” He called out, half in the closet as he looked through the array of clothing. Given they could both muster up clothes from no where it was almost surprising how much they actually had. “I didn’t see it in the laundry, but I definitely put it in the basket.”

 “words hurt, theodore,” he said in mock seriousness. “but i would disagree, mr. blonde and brooding. trust me, alcohol will hurt that frown upside down.” loki tilted his head.

Rolling his eyes, Teddy got himself a beer before settling next to Loki. “So. Ruined any more lives lately?” He asked, a touch more venom than he may have intended in his tone.
