Classic Willy - high key savage, but low key vain. He’s honestly a local legend (which isn’t hard when our local membership list consists of like… 5 people).
I spent polling day 2015 driving round with Willy (in our hopeless Tory safe seat) and honestly even at 9:59pm he was clapping loudly at everyone asking why we were slacking.
During the count all I remember is when Douglas Alexander lost his seat - Willy looked distraught and fumbled for his phone, muttering “I must phone Douglas” over and over, gradually getting louder as he said “I worked in the Foreign Office, I knOW DOUGLAS, I MUST PHONE DOUGLAS”.
