“Judgments” I took this last year, but in retrospect, I think it’s my strongest piece from high school.
Working on this project really made me examine my own opinions, preconceptions and prejudices about “slutty” women and women who choose to cover all of their skin alike. I used to assume that all women who wore Hijabs were being oppressed, slut-shame, and look down on and judge any woman who didn’t express her sexuality in a way that I found appropriate.
I’d like to think I’m more open now.
just wonderful.
LIGHTS OUT- REVIEW
When I first listened to Lights Out, I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about it. The music seemed pretty generic, like something that I had heard many times before.Wake Me Up, the first song I listened to from their Playing with Fire EP, was nothing too special. I suppose it's just not my cup of tea.
Then I moved on toOnly A Kid. Better than the song before, but still not as good as it could have been. Second time around the guitar licks sound harder, more full of substance than just the simple strums I thought they had been.Playing With Fire, the final song on the EP, is what changed my slightly negative opinion of Lights out. It had the ideal sound to dance and bang your head to (if only I was a headbanging person). The one unique thing I did notice from all of their songs is the frontman, Scott's, voice. I personally could listen to it all day long.
As for their influences, Green Day never even crossed my mind since Lights Out doesn't exactly have the most punk rock sound in the world, if any. But Blink 182 is very prominent and easily distinguished.
I give them 3 and 1/2 stars put of five.
LDR is about as mainstream as you get these days.
Not really. She is known by many, but not as much as other artists. If I ever decide to someone like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, of Karmin, then we can talk about Mainstream.
