Just wanted to make a little update, I’ve been really busy the past couple of weeks preparing for my cousin’s wedding which was this weekend. (It was fun and exhausting.) Things should get back to normal now and I’ll be able to get back to making more content.

This is basically what Ariston looks like before and after he takes his potion every night/ morning. He hasn’t slept in years so he looks really unhealthy. The potion makes him feel rested and helps him feel/ appear healthy. The potion lasts for 12 hours before he would have to have another dose. If he doesn’t drink another one right after the 12 hour mark, his healthy appearance begins to fade so by morning he looks pretty scary.

Some head canons for Ariston. I thought about the whole thing some more and here are my revisions.

Someone put a curse on him that makes his health and appearance feel as if he has a plague. He has been able to combat the effects of the curse through a health restorative potion he needs to drink every 12 hours.

He is physically weak when he is in the plague-like state and he doesn’t sleep very well because of nightmares that accompany the curse. Since he doesn’t sleep well, he will summon nightmares away from people nearby so they don’t suffer, only he will.

He hates himself the most when he is in his cursed form. He is ashamed and disgusted with how he looks. It makes him feel like a hideous beast after seeing the fear on other’s faces when they see him.

Before he found a potion to temporarily reverse the curse, he was shunned and ostracized by every village and city he traveled to. He never felt safe in one place for long. Some people will do crazy things to keep a plague from striking their community.

He was cursed when he spurned a powerful vengeful magician who lusted after him.

Ariston admired the sleeping form next to him. He found the gentle rise and fall of their chest and their peaceful expression soothing. He smiled softly as he began to kiss their shoulder down to the crook of their neck, moving slowly as to not disturb them. “I wonder what you dream of. I would dream only of you.” He chuckled quietly and kissed their cheek.

Morning was approaching soon and Ariston did not want Lux to see him in his sleep deprived state. He looked like he hadn’t slept in years. His eyes were irritated and bloodshot with prominent dark circles even his complexion looked sickly from the lack of sleep. He had a potion in his bag at the foot of the bed. He carefully unfurled himself from Lux and reached for his satchel.

His brow furrowed and he huffed in frustration as he rummaged through the contents. He became a little more frantic when he couldn’t find the potion. ‘Nononono...this can’t be happening!’ Ariston jumped out of bed and searched around, hoping his potion had fallen out of the bag. “Okay, if I can’t find it...I’ll just go make a new one...maybe Lux won’t notice I’m gone.” His heart sunk when he saw them feel around for him on the bed. He frowned as he dressed himself. He leaned over and kissed Lux, praying they would stay asleep. “I will be back before you know it, my love.”
