REECE THANAMNI (F, Southeast Asian descent, any voice part):
“Spotter” for the Arrow Rock High Cheer Squad. Reece is very well liked in school, and for all the right reasons. She’s a peacemaker, and almost everything she does is in service to that goal. When she joined Cheer in her freshman year, it was clear she not only had a talent in gymnastics, but in leading as well. This almost assured her that, in due time, she’d be the captain. However, on her last year of eligibility, she was overcome by Sunny Toussaint, who had been building her popularity empire in what many consider the exact opposite way. This, along with her immigrant descent and the rampant rumors created by Sunny’s troupe meant her popularity has taken a downturn. However, you wouldn’t notice from how she acts. Despite being a person that has been treated unfairly day after day, Reece tries her best to create a bright environment wherever she goes and make as much people feel comfortable as possible. She believes in the change that starts now.
Sugar Cloud - Ride the Cyclone
Kind of Woman - Pippin
Never Enough - The Greatest Showman
GRACIE BECKANDORF (F, Any Race, any voice part):
One of the ones with just too much aspiration to ever want to stick to Arrow Rock. And in Gracie’s case, it's her bittersweet relationship to film. Gracie’s love of filmmaking started very young, and she’s stuck to the passion ever since. From camcorder home movies, to recording weddings for a quick dollar, to stalking the halls with her phone camera for any sort of scoop, everything’s a story to Gracie, and it's her destiny to tell it. To some, it's quirky and endearing to have someone ask you mysterious questions about your life while being recorded, to some, it’s annoying to have a camera stuffed in your face. To Gracie, it’s art. Important art. And it’s okay that you don’t get it now… because you will one day. Other than being the class camera, she doesn’t have much Arrow Rock history to her name. She gets along with a good chunk of people, but Gracie doesn’t stick close to many groups of people. She’s an independent filmmaker, see what I did there? Although her Sophomore Year Crime Doc called “Who Killed Gravy the Squirrel”, which tagged Tiffany Bricklan as the culprit, basically made a mortal enemy out of Tiffany’s side of the cheer team. As you may be able to tell, sometimes Gracie gets a little too detached from her subjects, and ends up seeing people as just characters in a film, to be only explored through the lens of film.
What Baking Can Do - Waitress
Times are Hard for Dreamers - Amelie
I’m Watching You - The Connector
FLORENCE LAMB (F, Any Race, any voice part):
A lacrosse player with little restraint or filter. Florence’s philosophy is “live life now”, and to her that means doing the things you want to do, here and now. It means getting that tattoo today, skipping to go roadtrip to the beach today. She says what she thinks, whether it comes off mean or not, sometimes to a degree that seems unwarranted or unneeded, and she does what she feels. It's given her the reputation of, at best, being a refreshing and exhilarating thrill of a person, and at worst, an unpredictable ball of fire that’s bound to offend you somehow. Florence lacks meaningful connections in Arrow Rock because of it, no one’s quite as “present-minded” as she is.Â
This World Will Remember Us - Bonnie & Clyde
I’m Breaking Down - Falsettos
Circus - I Need a Drink
NATHANIEL KEELY (M, Caucasian, any voice part):
The patriarch of the Keely family and the owner of the local Inn. To many, he is a kind pillar of the Arrow Rock Community. A frequent attender of community events, a generous philanthropist, and a helping hand to anyone in need of his services. But to his family, he is a tyrant. One who demands perfection of the family name by any means necessary. The flip he partakes when out of the public eye in terms of his demeanor, especially when he’s angry, is large… and supremely terrifying.
Song Suggestions:Don’t Be The Bunny - Urinetown
Hellfire - Hunchback of Notre Dame
Ruthlessness - Epic the Musical
KORMAN JAY (M, African-American, any voice part):
Korman Jay seems like he was plucked out right out of a 90s sitcom. He’s got every jock stereotype deeply embedded into his psyche. Except the physical violence. While he’s definitely a “bust-your-chops”, “It’s just a prank, bro” type of jock, he’s not the “stuff you in a locker” type of a jock, if that makes sense. He interacts with everyone as if they’re his best friend, so it’s hard to tell where his loyalties lie. One thing’s for sure, where Korman goes, so does his best buddy Mantis Shrimp, the two are inseparable. Korman used to be a lot meaner his Freshman year, and seems to have lightened up into the light of the party much more these last few years. Boy knows how to rage.
Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’ - Teen Beach Movie
You’re Welcome - Heathers
Steam Train - Songs for a New World
