Now, if God exists, surely He must realize Creation is a communist enterprise. He holds quay but nothing in nature takes more than it needs and it freely and willfully gives back everything else. When it doesn’t, it doesn’t work. The sun is free — even tax free I might add. So much of earth, nature, life, is cooperative and free and harmonious without competition. The only truly capitalist species are Homo sapiens. But their bodies and physiology is not capitalist. And when they are capitalist and competitive all of nature is thrown off and things become sick and ill and decay. Cooperation is how nature functions. Competition is a cynical way to view that microcosmic aspect of the World and of the better Angels of our nature. <3 Alexej

The Timeless Voice of Faith

“...We have travelled far since the age of Reason. We have seen the age of Enlightenment give rise to the age of progress; to a boundless optimism, a vast complacency, reared on a triple base -- the theory of evolution, the business dynamism of the western world, and man’s apparently unlimited power over nature. Then we have witnessed a failure of rational nerve; we have watched the prestige of reason decline, in many quarters, in direct proportion to the mounting achievements of science: an event caused partially, but not entirely, by the two most terrible wars in history and the threat of an even more terrible third. We have lived to hear our famous Renaissance, of which we were so proud, described not as a rebirth of human values, but as the beginning of a long period of human disintegration; while the road of science, on which we set out so bravely, is now seen by an ever increasing number of observers as the road to death. Catholic thinkers and publicists have, of course, been most eloquent in analyzing a process by which they believe to be a perfect justification of their unchanging historical and religious position. 

The voice of Rome is not alone in proclaiming, to an unhappy and bewildered generation, the vanity of reason. A Toynbee looks up and down the long vistas of history, and persuades himself that we are in all probability moving toward the final triumph of Christianity. Surveying the periods of human civilization, weighing their elements, charting tendencies, deciding that the western world is about to enter upon a new age of faith. 

Scientists, working at the highest levels, having reached the frontiers of empiricism, are finding it a comfort to supplement their knowledge with super rational beliefs. Writers who were skeptical and uncompromising intellectuals only twenty years ago are now taking refuge in the old religions of the West and even older Eastern mysteries. The fugitives from reason are following many paths, but their numbers are impressive, and the significance of their action is not to be ignored. 

Whether or not this flight is a major movement in the intellectual history of man, whether or not the rational tide, after its long run, is destined to be borne backward by a rising tide of faith remains to be demonstrated. But, whatever the upshot for all of humanity’s efforts empiricism stands as a symbol; toweringly identified with one notable stage of man’s development; perfectly representing an era of man in response to the innate and seemingly inscrutable challenges of life. 

And, for those who are incapable of finding supernatural solace, the age of reason -- with all its limitations --- must remain the best hope and the best instrument they have remaining here on Earth.”

Shall I begin thus? 

This blog is an interfaith and arts blog devoted to spiritual insights/wisdom as well as the promotion of outsider art & poetics. 

Basic topics to be covered (what the fuck am I writing? A syllabus?) include: 

a. an interfaith approach to spiritual matters 

b. the cultivation of self-expression from omni-creating artistic pariahs who don’t find much of a home in the mainstream publishing world (and sharing of subsequent and relevant material(s). 

c. a syncretic amalgamation of these matters, ideas, posts, and the like. 

Criteria for Artistic, Poetic, or Spiritual Submissions: 

If you’re looking to contribute, please bear in mind the following criteria and restrictions: 

1) Nothing hateful, disrespectful, political, or self-righteous will be published 

2) Effort and thought are important (plz TRY to do something cool) 

3) Don’t WOW us with your academic knowledge or your MFA just send us your awesomeness...if it’s TOO polished or looks too academic, chances are it will be rejected. 

Aside from those guidelines we are pretty welcoming, laid back, and aren’t inclined to reject authentic art that comes from, or is good for the soul (visual, verbal, or multimedia)

Take it with a grain of salt, of course, but I do aspire to be a kind of offbeat, Western, omni-creating, satirical, Czechoslovakian, Zen Rumi . . . not necessarily speaking to me or my abilities, but rather, the extraordinarily abstract and eccentric nature of what this blog will deal with and incorporate.
