Early playblast of Maya animation work for Void Spirit in Crimson Kingdom.
Crimson Kingdom - Visual effects “The Void”
Here is a piece of the Void of Crimson Kingdom rendered in After Effects. As I felt inexperienced with replicating a cutscene in Unity, I opted to create the visual effects post-process. This was a very fun way of presenting our protagonist for the first time, and by far my favourite piece I have made to show.
Crimson Kingdom -- Animation Sequence WIP
After discussing ways to approach the opening cutscene for Crimson Kingdom, our group have opted for an animated sequence using Maya, and post production once animation is finished will be composited in Premiere Pro/After Effects. I’m happy to say as being comfortable in these fields I’m looking forward to a final product. I am a little unfamiliar with Maya’s animation suite displayed here, however I am steadily but surely transferring my skill set from former SFM animations to yield similar results. :) More to come soon!
Sound Design So Far!
An update on sound effects for Crimson Kingdom -- about 50 or so sounds and OST now exist for our project, mostly comprised of ethereal and strange effects, such as the Void, choirs and whispers in the village chapel and chantry, as well as UI effects for the player. Ironically, for some of the oddest sounds in the collection, I’ve found looking to natural sounds has been key to making successful building blocks for effects, with synthetic effects providing a more supporting rather than main role in effect generation. Below are just a few examples of the sounds currently created. :D

Crimson Kingdom OST Development Pt 2
In Crimson Kingdom, wind and atmospheric sounds hold paramount importance to creating an ethereal and strangely melancholic world. I’ve used Sytrus, a VST included in FL Studio to create my Wind preset, created using LFO modulation and sine/noise waves to emulate bluster. To finish the effect, cutoff, bandpass and highpass produce a sound similar to varying wind speeds. When applied to an XY modulation grid, one can change events such as wind speed on the fly, allowing for maximum customisation.
Crimson Kingdom OST Development
As the project requires many medieval and fantasy based music, I employed the use of the Kontakt VST in my motif development. Here presented are the plugins for synthetic strings as well as sampled vocals for choir segments. This alongside the celtic harp provides me with apt tools for creating a realistic musical environment for Crimson Kingdom.

Synthetics and Citizens Anthology
The first shot is prototype sketches for NAPA’s synthetic police. The central design is for use in more jaded, hard-cut areas as a more heavy duty unit. Pacifiers on the left and right augment riot police and assist with combat engineers on the battlefield.
NAPA’s SWAT Pacifiers and corporate firms feature similar robotic designs, and human corporate dress is formal, clean cut and to the point.
The PACU citizens I want to have a hive-centric design, much like moths or worker bees, to bring back the community aspect so strong in PACU. More importantly, it’s an ideal visual indicator for identifying synths in the cityscape. The following shot exhibits potential “emotions” that an LED system housed on the frame could show.
The last shot, of GE citizens and robots, features a merchant bot, a florist, a synth artist, and an older gentleman. Each of these I want to use as archetypes for final character concepts
Architectural Sketch Anthology
The first shot is a rough photobash of Berlin in 2076, with new iconic buildings such as the green-lit Kategorischer Imperativ Tower, alongside the Fernsehturm de Berlín.
The Hive Tower is the central standpoint for the PACU’s science and industrial efforts. I want to make a final piece for this building in my next term to compliement a shot of a secondary character, Karl-0.
The third shot is PACU’s new aquatic city extensions in Australia. The fogged area is to exhibit further oil usage in the region.
The following sketches of the cityscape and architectural forms of Grand Europa are ideas for the style I want to use. Contemporary, but also woven and artistic in nature.
Madame D’Argent - The Antagonist
-- The Madame, or Silver Lady, serves as the primary antagonist for Gatekeeper.
-- Extravagant, elegant, and terribly rich – has a plethora of physics and aeronautics companies behind her.
-- Wants to use The Voidwalker as a conduit for teleportation device.
