I want to start getting professional work. Any tips on getting an agent?

I'm glad you asked this, because there are many people who will make the mistake of getting the wrong kind of agent. Once you find an agent that you like/will find you a job, you're going to have to pay them (eventually). Do NOT get an agent that you pay monthly, weekly, or any other set payment. Pay your agent AFTER YOU GET A ROLE. Before you begin the long process of auditions and trying to find auditions and callbacks, etc. sit down with your agent and pick a percentage of your paycheck that will go to your agent. Unless you are a celebrity who needs an agent on hand 24/7, only pay your agent when you get a job. Good luck!

so I was starting to get pretty involved in theatre, and them i moved to a different city. So now I have no theatre, but I'm still very passionate about performing. Which theatre should I go to in Indy?

Alright so I'm not sure how old you are, so I don't know if school productions are an option. Of course those are great. Also there are some GREAT theatre programs in Indy. There's Summer Stock, Footlite, Beef & Boards dinner theatre, Indiana repatory theatre, Civic theatre, and many youth programs as well (which, again I don't know how old you are so I don't know if you need youth programs). But yeah Indy has a GREAT theatre selection, you're in luck! Break a leg, I hope you find something you want to do!

If you get cast as an extremely minor role/ensemble in something, is it worth doing the production? Like is it fun or is it boring nd i should just pass it up?

First off sorry I'm answering this so late I have not logged on in FOREVER, so I'm not sure when you asked this. I think we've all had this issue at some point. " I got a minor role, I'm not important. It's not worth my time. I won't have fun. Etc." However, it has been my expirience that having a chorus/minor role is the most fun! You don't have to learn as much (making rehersals easier and more laid back), you have more time to just chill, and you can go do crazy shenanigans! I think that if you are any kind of people person, you can have a great deal of fun no matter your role. Plus you still get the whole theatre experience; rehersals, tech week, performances, etc. Remember the insanely cliché saying: "there are no small roles, only small actors" I hope I helped you out! :)-Theatre Kid Memes

What is considered proffesional theatre?

In my opinion professional theatre is when you audition for a part and get paid to do it. Your profesion is the thing you do and get paid for. Otherwise it would just be a hobby or something you pay to do.
