I know I didn't do anything in more than 6 months, but Im glad I still have more followers than before :) So I will start reviewing Longboards (Decks, Wheels, Trucks, Bushings, etc etc) again! Send me a message and I will review your recommended Longboard(part) ! See ya ! -Tabster
It's time for another review! The Arbor Pockket Rocket Koa!
Seriously: If you travel a lot, go to school or even to cinema but you are too lazy to walk get this board! With only 26" this board will even fit into some bags or backpacks. It's light as hell, you could carry it for an hour and it wouldn't hurt.
This board is also perfect for some quick turns. Even in a town you will have many advantages with this board. The tail of the board lifts the board with no weight at all. Manuals can last forever if you train them and sliding will be very easy due to the lightness of the board (After you got used to the board).
It even has kicks at the nose, so you have the chance to try simple turns or shuv-its on both sides.
The griptape is made of recycled glass. Arbor is a green company and i respect that a lot.
Best set-up I've been riding yet contained following parts: The Pocket Rocket koa, Skateboard Independent Trucks, Abec 11 No Skoolz65mm 81a and last but not least the Bones Swiss Ceramic bearings. Absolutely intense set-up. It's a fun-loaded package and you won't regret buying this board. trust me.
How's it going guys? Today I'm reviewing the Riviera Mini Slayer !
The Mini Slayer is a 38" long drop-through deck. Some people call it a little freestyler, but I think it has more of a freeride deck. This deck is made of only 3 plies of bamboo. It has a smooth flex and is quite fun to ride. It is 9" wide and has a little bit of concave. With those two combined your slides are well controlled and you feel safe while doing them.
The Nose and Tail are pretty cool, they remind me of the Loaded Dervish.
3 plies of bamboo sound like the board would break in seconds, but it's not like that. the board can stand more than you can think, for it's size and everything it's quite durable I have to say.. (but if you hit a wall the nose/tail will lose lenght)
If you want to get this board i would recommend some Randal R2 180mm Trucks and Abec gumballs wheels. For highest performance get ceramic bearings.
Do I recommend this board ? Yes. It's worth a try. Of course there are better boards, but it's cheap, it's not bad (it's quite good) and it is a underground board that almost no one knows.. Don't leave the unsupported alone :D
Can you review the reviera mini slayer board... its my first longboard so kinda want know more about it
ok i will post a review in a few minutes, be sure to check it out :)
What longboard would YOU like me to review ? :)
I was wondering what you would suggest if I wanted a small longboard. I have one already that I love, it's 40" long but I travel a lot and in a plane it's not always easy...! I know some people say, if the board is under 30" long it's no longer a longboard but still, it has wheels ! ^^
You mean small old school boards like the Arbot pocket Rocket? :DIt's a small very small pintail formed Board, it's very light, and quite durable. Use it to get everywhere, use it to do tricks, use it as a small place to sit down!If not message me again, will will recommend more boards :)
I have a beat up used board that's over 4ft long and really stiff, no flex at all, with what appear to be skateboard independent trucks lol. So my question is what type of deck would you change to while learning to slide and keep downhill stability because I use this to get everywhere and there are a lot of steep hills around here. Also what wheels would you recommend if I'll be commuting downhill and doing a decent amount of speed checks
If you got 180mm trucks it's all fine, if not you should get a pair as fast as possible. For your case i would recommend bear grizzly 1800mm trucks.
I got 3 decks for you (Stiff, Downhill, Freeride):
1. The Never Summer Revolt 2012
This board is a monster when it comes to downhill and freeride! This board is hands down the maybe best freeride board ever created. it is 42" long and completely stiff. It has nice, long tails and is SUPER durable, but at the same time it is light. Never Summer are building nose guards INTO the noses and tails of their board to prevent serious damage. The graphics are fortified with fiberglass, not even a knife can scretch this board. Your board will survive a loooong time. It's concave locks your feet perfectly and slides feel very safe. You can also reach high speeds with this deck. Due to it's flat nose & tail it reaches slightly higher speeds than boards with kicks. With this deck you will also get a 3-years warranty.. so basically you will keep this board longer than you want.
2. Original Apex40 DiamondDrop
A newer version of the Apex 40 with dropped platform (0.925"). It's 40.75" long. The dropped platform gives you more stability while bombing hills or doing some serious slides. The drop also makes pushing easier. The kicks of the board are 1.25" high. Original themself they, that this is the strognest (most durable) board you can have. Additionally you can even buy Nose guards, that not only will strenghten your kicks and protect them from damage, but they also make your kicks longer to make tricks even easier.
The only not durable thing about this deck are the graphics. One wrong trick or something similar and you have big scratches on it.
But this deck is heavy and freaking expensive.
3. Rayne Demonseed
The Rayne Demonseed is a absolute speed Monster. It's lenght is 44" and it has a 1" dropped platform. It is 10" wide to give you a wide open area. It has so called sharp edges to lock your feet perfectly for slides. The Demonseed is freaking heavy, but that's why it reached so high speeds. This board is also very durable. Even the graphics are tattooed with ink to make the killer panda graphics scretch resistant. The price is ok when you live in the USA, but in europe we pay a high price for this board.
For the best of sliding wheels I would recommend the Fireball Incendo, but I think they are not that stable when reaching high speeds.. Try the Abec 11 BigZigs, they are really really good for higher speeds.I Hope I could help you! Have a nice day mate!
I've been boarding for about 4 or 5 months. I have a bamboo Sector 9 Lennox Head. I love my Shelley but I want to get another board for doing tricks and whatnot (more dancing than anything). I don't want anything tooo long. Have any suggestions for me? Thanks much!
If you are looking for mostly dancing i have 3 suggestions for you:1. Arbor Timeless Koa
The Timeless Koa is a 46" long pintail with really cool design and great flex. When I'm about to dance i always chose this board.2. Never Summer Descent TM/DT
A great, symmmetrical shaped, 41" long freeride deck. It's durability is beyond good and you get a 3-years-warranty. You will keep this board forever. The flex feels just AWESOME when dancing and I think it is a all new experience for everyone looking for flexy dances.
3. Loaded Bhangra
I don't know if this board is too long for you, but it offers good flex, a nice surface to dance and even nice kicks for freestyle. It's 48.5" long.
Tell me if I was able to help you! Have a nice day and keep shredding!
I was wondering what you would suggest, i have an Arbor axis bamboo, And i want to learn how to slide. do you think i should get a new board or just update my wheels? Its a drop through and im pretty sure i have paris trucks. sorry im not sure on specifics. but i was thinking of just buying some butterballs and calling that good to start learning. oh and Im pretty sure the have abec 5 bearings
The deck is just fine, you can keep it and use it to learn slides.
You need to make your bushings (Trucks) soft and get some hard wheels to get a good start. Bearings don't matter at all, but be sure to get some speed when you are trying to slide. You can also keep your bearings, that will be just fine.
Best sliding wheels I have EVER tried are the Fireball Incendos (Black).. They are REALLY hard and fast, you slide like butter with the Fireball Incendos.
I hope i could help you, have a good day =)
