Missing bus stops?
I did not find any bus stop at 121, Jalan Limau Manis (top picture) and at 153, Jalan Limau Purut (bottom picture) as written in RapidKL's website.
O bus stops! Where art thou or did RapidKL make a mistake on its website?

Missing bus stops?
I did not find any bus stop at 121, Jalan Limau Manis (top picture) and at 153, Jalan Limau Purut (bottom picture) as written in RapidKL's website.
O bus stops! Where art thou or did RapidKL make a mistake on its website?
The final and the fifth bus stop at Jalan Limau Manis is situated outside house number 155. However, this bus stop is not featured in RapidKL's website.
When I first visited the street on March 14th (top pictures), I can hardly see the bus stop sign post as my view was obstructed by the tree but when I visited the street again on April 3rd (bottom pictures), DBKL (I assumed) had trimmed the tree to make the bus stop sign more visible to commuters.
The fourth bus stop at Jalan Limau Manis is opposite house number 152.
This bus stop is not in RapidKL's U87 route but I'm guessing that it's still a working bus stop because the fell sign post wasn't left to rot on the ground but instead tied to the electrical post which to me, signifies its importance. By the way, a patrol officer is just around the corner or sometimes just a few metres away from the bus stop.
The third bus stop at Jalan Limau Manis is outside house number 105.
The unique thing about this bus stop is that it has 2 bus poles, a worn out RapidKL sign post and the old yellow and black generic bus stop sign post. Why didn't the authorities pull out the old one before installing the new one? Hmmm...
Also, I think a sign needs to be put next to bus stops/poles that cars cannot be parked at designated bus stops.
The second bus stop at Jalan Limau Manis is outside house number 87.
The extremely dated signboard on the bus pole is screaming for a makeover. RapidKL, will you do something about it?
Another problem with bus stops in Bangsar (or Kuala Lumpur in general) is that car drivers do not respect the allocated areas meant for bus.
The first bus stop I found at Jalan Limau Manis was in between house number 47 and 49. This bus stop is not listed in RapidKL's website which led me to believe that this is a disused bus shelter.
The ironic thing is that the lights at this defunct bus shelter works and yet many working bus shelters in Bangsar are left in the dark at night. (Check out the light fixtures for bus stops at 136 Lorong Maarof, 224 Lorong Maarof, SMK Bukit Bandaraya, Jalan Ara - in front of TMC, and Jalan Telawi - opposite Bangsar Village.)
Bus Stops at Jalan Limau Manis
From the image above, we can see that that there are 3 bus stops at Jalan Limau and 1 bus stop at Limau Purut. (Image taken from RapidKL website.)
However, from my observation, I found 5 bus stops at Jalan Limau Manis and did not find ANY at Jalan Limau Purut.
Update!
DBKL has updated Bangsar Baru playground! Also, they've scrapped the yellow line at Jalan Telawi Lima and turned it into legal car parks, just like how I advised in this post!
Will post pictures of them weekend!
In the mean time, I will continue with pictures of bus stops at Jalan Limau Manis and around Bangsar LRT Station that are long overdue.
Sorry I haven't been updating the blog
Was busy with some other things.
There's some minor developments regarding the bus stops in Bangsar. DBKL have changed the roof for some of the bus stops. It's not that noticeable and in my opinion, look worse than the previous ones.
In the mean time, I will post pictures of the bus stops in Jalan Limau Manis. There's only one bus shelter in Jalan Limau Manis and the rest are just bus poles. However, the bus shelter is probably defunct because it's not listed in RapidKL website.
On another note, the upcoming election has shrouded Bangsar with flags, flags and more flags! And they ain't pretty. I might take pictures of them, if weather permits. (It's been raining elephants and rhinos almost every evening lately.)
The bus stop at 73, Lorong Maarof (opposite bus shelter at 52, Lorong Maarof).
It's pretty much like any other bus poles in Kuala Lumpur - without any information on the buses plying the route.
This is probably just me but I find it annoying when cars are parked beside bus poles.
Bus Shelter at house number 52, Lorong Maarof.
It was installed by Ritz Outdoor Worldwide, a member of Stooer.
DBKL awarded Stroeer the contract to install and maintain bus shelters in KL back in 2008 but you can only find two four of these in Bangsar.
The other three is at Jalan Ara and they're not bus shelters, they're taxi shelters.
Even though the shelter comes with a built in sign board for the street name, Stroeer didn't bother to write it in. Also, this bus shelter doesn't come with an accompanying trashcan so commuters just leave their trash on the bench.
Apart from the missing trash can, I actually like Stoeer's bus shelter. It looks good, sturdy and weather protective.
Why haven't Stroeer replace all the bus shelters in Kuala Lumpur yet?
This bus stop is labeled as Klinik Haiwan, Lorong Maarof because there's a long standing veterinarian clinic closeby.
Seriously, I don't understand how people can confuse a bus stop with a landfill.
This bus shelter is between house number 134 and 136, Lorong Maarof.
I thought it was a disused bus shelter when I first saw it because there is *surprise* no signboard indicating that this is a working bus stop.
I wouldn't have known that this is a working bus stop until I saw people alighting from the bus.
That's not all, this bus stop doesn't have any rubbish bin and the lights aren't working. But that's no excuse why it should be treated like a landfill.
Taxi stand several meters from this bus shelter.
I like the roof design of this taxi stand, it has a retro-futuristic vibe.
DBKL must really check the light fixtures periodically; most of the taxi/bus shelters in Bangsar have no lights.
Bus Shelter at 164, Lorong Maarof.
This bus shelter looks exactly like the one in 226, Jalan Maarof except the lights are working.
Bus Shelter at 226, Lorong Maarof.
During the day, this bus shelter looks bright and cheery but at night, with no lights, it looks spooky. Like any other bus shelter in Bangsar, there is no signboard to indicate that this shelter is a working bus stop, even the painted word "BAS" on the road has faded.
Although the design of this bus shelter is boring, it's very tropical-weather friendly (it was installed more than a decade ago and it still looks pretty good). Also I think it's easier to retrofit a solar panel on tiled roofs. To make the bus shelter more unique, perhaps DBKL can install a minangkabau styled roof.
Check out the wood-paneled roof (love it!)
Like I mentioned before, the tiled bench is great for the hot Malaysian weather. It's quite lasting too, I don't see any missing tiles on the bench, just stains that are easily washable.
Bus Stop at 114, Jalan Maarof.
The bus pole is almost fully hidden by the tree.
What's more appalling is that people seem to treat the bus stop as a garbage disposal area.
