It shouldn’t be too hard based on the ease with which you forgot your feigned desire, the swift force with which you switched from longing to apathy. I won’t pretend that I don’t want completed promises, or apologies, or answers. But all I’m truly owed is this.

Do me the service of fading away and let me live with that version of this story. I’d rather be a worn-out title shelved in your memory than be a bookmarked page to which you one day might return.
