Molly stared at Klaus, dazed as his compulsion took effect. Her eyes glazed over for a few moments, before she came to, blinking a few times.
The second the compulsion was over and in the time it took for her to come out of the dazed expression, Klaus was gone.
Molly’s lower lip quivered as his words sunk in, and tears filled her eyes as she realized what he meant. “No. I don’t want it. I don’t want to forget.”
"It's the best thing to do." Klaus cupped her cheeks with his hands and looked her in the eyes. "Molly, you will not remember anything about me. You were turned in to a hybrid after a freak accident that you barely remember. You will be controlled in your blood intake and remember my training as being trained by Caroline."
She didn’t step away or break eye contact, but there was no denying the trace of fear in her voice when she spoke again. “What happens next?”
"I'll get to that." He paused. "Molly, you're sired to me. Not in a hybrid sense, I undid that. You're sired to me in a romantic sense. And you see, the romantic sires are the hardest to get rid of so I have to do this in the easiest way possible. I promised Delilah that I wouldn't let you go overboard and I am keeping that promise. I won't ask you to switch it off. But there is one other thing I can do..."
Molly took the knife out, watching with a dazed kind of awe as the wound healed. She looked back up at her boyfriend, a trace of confusion in her eyes. “What about that made you happy?”
Klaus looked to her. "It made me happy because now I know the truth." He answered, stepping closer. "It also made me sad because of what has to happen next."
Molly looked from him to the knife, confused and almost fearful. But the thought of it making him happy calmed her worries, and it wasn’t like it’d kill her. Taking the blade from his hands, she drove it into her abdomen without hesitation, flinching a bit as an almost-silent cry of pain escaped her.
Klaus watched her do it without hesitation and shook his head. His fears were true.His smirk dropped as he shook his head. "Remove it."
"What?"
Klaus took out his pocket knife and flipped it up so the blade shone in the light. "Stab yourself in the stomach."
"Yeah?"
"I'm not happy. You know what would make me happy?"
"Molly, I know you're around."
