The Book of Negroes Miniseries First Official Trailer.
The series is a film adaption of Canadian author Lawrence Hillâs award-winning novel The Book of Negroes. The book, which won the top 2008 Commonwealth Writersâ Prize, follows the story of Aminata Diallo, a young girl in Segou, Mali, kidnapped, enslaved and transported on a ship to the United States.
Like most enslaved Africans in the Americas, Dialloâs experience is marred by the cruelty of the racist white supremacist system of the time. But what stands out about this fictional tale is that Diallo becomes one of the few African-Americans to record her name in the âBook of Negroes" - an actual historic document that was used to record the names of enslaved African-Americans who managed to escape to British territory during the American Revolutionary War. After serving the British, these individuals were eventually evacuated and relocated to Sierra Leone and other British colonies.
These Black Loyalists, as they are now referred to, that settled in Sierra Leone have their descendents in the Creole or Krio population of the country. Once such loyalist was Henry Washington, a former slave of George Washington, who escaped slavery and eventually settled in Freetown, Sierra Leone. There, he led a rebellion against the colonial British government which led to him being banished to another part of the country.
The Book of Negroes, largely filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, is due to make its debut at Cannes in October before eventually being screened on BET in the United States. The miniseries stars Aunjanue Ellis, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Lou Gossett Jr.

black woman: *wears a weave*
people: LOL look at this ratchet bitch wearin a weave because she cant grow her own hair do you even have hair under there i mean do you even wear your real hair out at all i hate weaves its like false advertising i dont see why you'd wear fake hair when you could just have your own.
black woman: *gets a perm*
people: why do you want to be white why do you hate yourself so much to be burning your hair out with the creamy crack every 4-6 weeks and it cant even be healthy for your hair or your scalp you need to let it go and embrace who you really are i hope that in time you come to accept yourself and what God has given you.
black woman: fuck y'all, I do what I want.
black men: see this is why i dont fuck with black women they got attitude problems bruh i only like a light-skin yellowbone with good hair that knows how to act i dont understand why black women gotta be so mad all the time like damn black women really aint shit.
Tumblr is a real-time, continuous documentation of language evolution and race dynamics. Over the last three years Iâve seen the language used by the Black users I follow make its way into the lexicon of white and other nonblack peopleâs vernacular. It happens rapidly and...

YORUBA THEOLOGY
The Yoruba theology resides mainly in the believe of a one God, who created everything that exists. From Him came several energies who take care of every detail of the Universe, those are called by the Yoruban believers, Irunmole and Orishas. In the Yoruba system of belief, before youâre born you have already decided what is going to happen with your life, this happens through Ori, which decide what is going to be the main objective in the new life youâre begining. Using the different energies of the Universe, we can achieve easily the needed balance to get to that final objective pre defined by ourselves, meaning living life in balance, with health, happiness and wealth. Once you come to the earthly plane, your body is formed by three elements: EmĂ (spirit), OrĂ (soul) and ArĂĄ (body). The EmĂ and the OrĂ live inside the ArĂĄ but separated. OrĂ has the knowledge and the wisdom of passed lifes, it keeps closed to ones consciousness until death. EmĂ allows us to our internal dialogue, it stores memories from this encarnation, and it goes aside from our counsciousness when we incorporate the Orisha, then he goes out the ArĂĄ. When we die, EmĂ and OrĂ becomes one and leave the ArĂĄ who will transform in a dead body (OkĂș). Once theyâre only one energy theyâll wait for the fate that will come to them, meaning returning to AiyĂ© transformed in an spirit (eggun) and wait for the reincarnation (AtĂșnwĂĄ), or if AragbĂĄ OrĂșn (Way to OrĂșn), to get to the ArĂĄ OrĂșn state (habitant of the OrĂșn) with the Orishas. These state is only achieved after several reincarnations, until ones EmĂ has a state pure enough to become an habitant of OrĂșn. Every dweller of AiyĂ©, according to their behaviour in life can be considered as an omoluabĂ or an ajogun. Those who broked the laws and had a despicable behaviour during life, become ajogun or dark spirits, among those are: Iku: The Death. King of the Ajogun. Arun: The disease. Ofo: The greed. Epe: The hatress. Ewon: The selfishness. Egba: The loneliness. The omoluabĂ are those that were rightous in the life, but anyway commited some mistakes, theyâre considered kind spirits and can be adored as family ancestors.
