With the show ending in a few hours, here are a few words I just wanted to say.

Thank you.

Not to Jason or any of the writers responsible for this stupid ending of course. They only brought us pain and proved that all of it was for nothing and it was just bait all along to keep their views. No, I'm not thanking him. Here are the people who truly deserve the credit.

Kass Morgan for creating Bellarke in the first place and giving us this beautiful love story in three amazing books.

Eliza Taylor and Bob Morley for bringing a face to Kass' characters and making us fall in love with Bellamy and Clarke all over again just because of their undeniable chemistry.

To Marie Avgeropolous as the best Octavia we could ever ask for.

To the kindness and support Bob and Eliza showed us even in dark times and for being an inspiration in every way.

To Clarke Griffin being the superior bisexual character many of us needed to come clear with their own sexuality.

To the fandom with their clownery, their constant jokes and theories, their hopefulness even when it seemed the hardest

To all the people who wrote amazing articles about the characters we loved

To the people sticking around with you to watch live when we all had hope for something epic to happen.

To the endless waiting for the new trailer to drop (even though the last one was a big disappointment)

To every single fanfic writer who gave us all those amazing fics for free. (Please never stop writing, I love all of them!)

To Shannon Kook as the perfect resemblance to Harper and Monty and one of the kindest cast member I hopefully will have the honor to meet someday.

To Lola Flanery for being our Bellarke child and a very talented young spirit

To Aaron Ginsburg for writing some of the most amazing Bellarke scenes despite the missing support of a few other crew members

To Alycia Debnam-Carey for bringing us Lexa as the badass lesbian warrior who deserved much better

And especially thanks to my mutuals and friends I never would have met without all of it.

That being said - this blog will still be active. Bellarke might be over, but I will never stop reblogging stuff about them and their happy ending (because it ended for me with them making out during the sunrise). The 100 will be over, but Bellarke won't. I will stay here as your source for everything about Beliza. For people who believe in the truth, true love and happiness despite the hurt you all felt those last few months. My asks will always be open, even if I can't answer right away. Just know that I'll read every one of those and I'm always here for you. Your rants about the show, to be your shoulder to lean on or just someone to talk to. I'm here. We will always be in this.

The only thing I’m worried about is that they’re really pushing the whole “best friend” thing. Clarke’s said it like 3 times in the past 2-3 episodes.

Totally get that worry, I do. But I see this as them giving us a major setup to Bellarke as a romantic endgame.

Having her call him her best friend tells us that she loves him. She respects him. She needs him. He is her person. And technically, it’s true at this point that all they are is best friends. They’ve not kissed, or slept together, or discussed romantic feelings.

Them being established as best friends is showcasing how much the other means to them outside of a romantic capacity. They are each other’s strength. In some ways, they are each other’s weakness.

So what the writers are doing is telling the audience, “Look. They are the most important person to each other. They have a strong foundation for the future. They know each other better than anyone else. They are partners. They are best friends.”

That way, when one of them does finally make a move, when we do finally get the culmination of all of the heart eyes, face caresses, neck nuzzles, “I need you”s, tearful goodbyes, heartache, jealousy, etc., we’ll know that this isn’t a passing infatuation. This isn’t just two people who are jumping into a relationship because they are alone and want someone. This is two people who have walked to hell and back hand in hand. This is two people who know every dirty secret and flaw about the other, and still love them to their very core. This is two people who have such a strong foundation in their friendship that nothing is going to break them apart.

Their other relationships on the show? They were romantic-only in nature. They were founded on passing infatuation, on a feeling that would pass. They weren’t built to last. By establishing in no uncertain terms that Bellamy and Clarke are each other’s best friend, the writers are telling us, “See this relationship? It’s going to be different than all of the others. It’s going to last.”

How many best friends to lovers AUs have we all read? (Hell, how many have many of us written? lol) No, the show isn’t fanfiction, but storytelling tropes are the same across mediums and genres.

They are absolutely best friends. And that’s going to make it all the more impactful when they also become romantic partners.
