AND. before i lose this thought.

johnny was telling his son about the race. and when he was telling it, he talked more about gyro, less about himself, and if he mentioned valentine at all, it was just in passing. he listed lucy and steven, and all the other enemies like wekapipo or hp, soundman, diego, even, but he kept coming back to gyro. and then johnny's voice breaks, his eyes get all wet. george jr. asks, 'are you crying, dad?' and johnny doesn't hold back; he just cries with everything he's got. and later, when he puts his son to bed, he goes back to his own room and starts going through the things he has left from gyro—the hat (which i believe johnny kept to himself in the end), the steel ball and especially the notebook where johnny wrote down all of gyro's jokes and shit— and it hits johnny all over again. i can see it.

and i'd love to write a fic out of this. but it's pure masochism and sadism at the same time. it's gonna hurt me and whoever reads it. not to mention that i suck in fanfiction lately so this wouldn't have worked any other way

i’ve been feeling like a total wreck at work for the last three days. and then when i came home today, i started thinking about how johnny showed up at the zeppeli house carrying their son's body... and how gyro’s mother saw the coffin with that lifeless body inside. of her firstborn. and i just broke down even more. like... a random foreign man comes to your house just to tell you your child, who’s been absent for so long, is dead.

somehow i feel even more depressed than before. i had a week off, but i think i need another one. they won't allow me that, probably, but i'll manage 😵‍💫

to ever think that gyro brought his teddy bear to america not only because he won't sleep without him, but also because he's a foreigner here and he doesn't know if he makes it home or not. his plushie basically serves as a remainder of a home; as a reassurance. and when it's damaged, gyro loses it. and i'm not mentioning his lost childhood, also.
