But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up...
seven is one of my favorite taylor swift songs, and i love the lyrical interpretation that the song is about taylor singing to her younger self, especially with the context of her failed coming out in 2019.
the lyrics, “please picture me in the trees, i hit my peak at seven,” could be about her seventh album, and how she felt the most free because she was openly her most authentic self (“gay pride makes me me”) and she thought she was finally going to come out.
and the lyrics, “and i've been meaning to tell you, i think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why” could be about her closeted childhood friend, but it can also be about her as well, especially with the lyrics from opalite, “i thought my house was haunted.”
