I’m so excited because I finally called the bad guy early in a book by Catherine Cowles!!!

I’ve read quite a few of her books, and I’ve never been able to guess the main bad guy and I have been determined to figure it out before the epic reveal. And this is the first book of hers that I was able to figure it out very soon in the book!

It did not take away from the amazingness of this story, but I was just excited over that aspect. Lol.

This book is Arden and Lincoln.

Lincoln is a self made billionaire and looking for a fresh start in Sparrow Falls. He’s building a new custom home and temporarily staying at his besties house..

Arden lives on the property. She’s moody, sarcastic, standoffish, and an artist.

Their intro starts off with a knife to Linc’s throat. Lol But, over time, these two trauma bond. And Linc is head over heels for this stubborn woman.

“Arden’s ferocity and vitality pulled at me. It was the sort of thing that grabbed you by the throat and never let go, forcing you to wake up and pay attention.”

They both knock down eachothers walls and become closer because it of. These two were like, meant for eachother and fated. I loved their romance from start to finish.

“Thanks for letting me into your world, Vicious.” “You’re welcome, Cowboy.”

Lolli had me rolling in the floor laughing. She had me dying from laughter in this book. She’s the best!

And the suspense, as usual, was supreme. It kept me reading and completely invested because I did not see the “other” bad guys coming at all. Shocked the shit outa me.

I’m obsessed with this family.

I started my spooky reading early this year and have zero regrets. I started off strong with Bewitched by the Headless Horseman by @candacerobinsonbooks .

👻 Stevie, a seer has been able to see ghosts for as long as she can remember and is also a witches assistant running local deliveries and assisting in mixing brews.

🧙 It’s the beginning of The Eye of Sleepy Hollow, when two magical new moons would fall a cycle apart. Basically, when the dead could see the living for 30 days.

🐈‍⬛ And while Stevie loves communicating and assisting the dead to make peace with their loved ones, she also ran into The Headless Horseman, who is taking the heads of other ghosts….

What is he doing with all these heads?!

🐦‍⬛Failing at pretending like she cannot see him, they end up forming a flirtatious friendship. And The Headless Horseman? He needs help. Stevie’s help.

Warren is a sexy, witty, loyal book-boyfriend. I absolutely adored him and his love for his Bambi.

Nathan Hatcher is cold and an absolute nightmare to work with. He goes through assistants like a good iced coffee and his next assistant? She’s beautiful. And that’s a problem. Nathan doesn’t want to feel feelings or desire for anyone. His heart still belongs to his late fiancée that’s passed away three years prior. He also lost her daughter he was supposed to adopt by her maternal grandmother taking her away from him.

He’s traumatized. Angry. Still grieving.

He can’t love again. Can he?

Spencer Riley. A beautiful young woman who’s also going through her own grief and trauma. She lost her mother to cancer and is now the full time mom/sister to her little sister, Charlie.

This story also touches on body dysmorphia, an eating disorder, and low self esteem.

It’s angsty.

And there’s a lot of push and pull from both characters. At times, I was quite a bit frustrated with Nathan. With this being a slow burn, it felt like he really wasn’t ready to admit his feelings for Spencer up until almost 70% into the book. And for me, it felt like he just wasn’t mature enough, even though he was 10 years older than Spencer. That’s what trauma and grief does though. It messes with you.

I loved the banter. I loved that Spencer outsmarted Nathan when he became over baring and a downright bosshole.

The whole guinea pig situation and side pet character gave the comic relief this story needed.

“I’m here whenever you need me. I don’t know exactly what you are to me, Spencer, but it’s very important. Get used to being my priority.”

Overall, I liked the story. Nathan wasn’t my favorite character in this series but I devoured this book nonetheless!
