*Bookshelf review* *I had a lot of debate about how I was going to do this month’s review since May’s theme was “the classics” and most everyone already knows these stories, not to mention when it comes to the classics I have a very hard time picking a favorite.* *I will simply state that I grew up with these wonderful stories and if you haven’t read them (even if you’ve seen the movies) you must start reading immediately! There is nothing more satisfying than walking to Netherfield alongside Elizabeth as she travels to take care of a sickly Jane. Or spending time with the silly and vastly different March girls who all teach the same lesson of endurance and pursuit of ones dreams. I could go on (literally for like several hours) talking about all the ways these stories have shaped my life but I rather you not take my word for it. Go ahead and read for yourself* *Also, there is no possible way that I could post about these classics without showing off my beautiful copy of “Little Women” that was gifted to me. It is by far the prettiest thing (not just book) that I own! #typewriterprompts *I always found the term “beast in the belly” to be rather funny. I am a lover of all animals and I always thought that any beast that dwells with in me should have a proper diet. I’m calling this one Farris wheel :) *I have often heard people compare life to a roller coaster. Saying that life goes up and down and all around, but while that might be true, I hardly think life is about as thrilling as a roller coaster is* *I propose that we compare life to Farris wheels instead.... Just think of it, in theory, a Farris wheel is a swell idea. They have been overly romanticized by the media to make everyone think they want to go on one. I mean what could possibly go wrong on such a beautiful invention? PLENTY OF THINGS. I mean you are stuck in a seat in the sky and you can’t get out of it and then it’s circling around over and over again until it makes you dizzy. And just when you start to get close to safe ground, you go back up again! It’s a living nightmare* *anyway, my point is, Farris wheels are life life because sometimes you have this idea for what it’s going to be like but then you realize that it’s actually kind of scary. Some people prefer the height and thrill of not knowing when they will be on the ground again and other prefer staying closer to the pavement, either way, they both have to deal with the circles that go round and round. #teatimewithkenzierea ~Personal growth lies within the unknown, courage allows you to explore this space~ ~when you are feeling so restless and alone, and entirely out of place~ ~All those fears coiled inside your bones, are only standing in you way~ ~Follow your heart wherever it may roam, but keep in mind what your head has to say~ ~Soon you will learn that the only way home, is a path you’ve been afraid to take~ ~So go ahead and step out of your comfort zone, and don’t be afraid to break~ ~When the trail you are walking is entirely your own, you’ll be proud of the footprints you make~ *I’ve been drinking so much tea that I’ve been getting the same affirmations over and over again! I’m happy that I finally got a new one!* *this one was interesting to write because the affirmation was pretty long but I made it work.* *in light of this poem, I have been trying to step outside my comfort zone more and write different types of poetry that I’m not used to. *bookshelf review* *title: The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society* *Author:Mary Anne Shaffer and Annie Borrows* *Genre: Historical fiction, Romance, Epistolary novel* *favorite quote: “Humour is the best way to make the unbearable bearable.” *I had admittedly seen the movie before I read the book on this one and I thought I knew what I was expecting… I was surely mistaken! This book is by far the most unique I have ever read. It is made up completely of letters and I find that entirely fascinating!* *Juliet is a writer trying to make a living in London after WW2. She spent her days during the war writing humorous stories to make people laugh but now that the war is over, she is ready for a more serious project. When she gets a letter from Dawrsey Adams, a pig farmer\bookworm who lives in Guernsey, she quickly becomes entirely fascinated by the story he and his friends have to tell of their time under German occupation and of their literary society that kept their spirits up during hard times* *Juliet’s character is definitely one I relate to a lot. She is entirely in her own world of books and daydreams with a thirst for adventure and anything new. She is gentle and nurturing to the ones who need to heal. With a cloud constantly parked on her head, she is an intense romantic* *The romance in this story is very sweet and most definitely my new favorite. The relationship starts off as two soft friends that are brought together by their love of books. They share a deep connection and understanding of each other. They fall in love rather slowly and quietly, just like falling asleep. It taught me that love stories aren’t always epic and full of passion.
