Spike had been sitting on the Summers' couch watching a late night black and white movie. The scream had him on his feet and he bolted to Dawn's bedroom. He saw it hadn't been her and turned toward Buffy's room. and found the Buffy-bot was the one screaming. He looked a bit panicked and entered the room and disconnected her from the wires where she was charging. "Hey, hey is this some kind of programming thiing?"

The Bot woke from her de-fragging process with a start. While sorting through memories she had come across one where her arms and legs were tied to motorcycles.

"Dark! It’s dark!" she exclaimed. 

The fear being processed did not quite reflect on her face as it would a real person, but voice let it be known she was truly distressed.

"I don’t want it to be dark again, Spike!"

It was Spike who she saw when she opened her eyes and the room came into view. What followed after the demons had torn her to pieces was darkness. The nothingness frightened her. She reached out for something to grab and clutched Spike’s shirt.

"You won’t be,"  Spike said squeezing his eyes shut as he turned his head to hide the emotion, as he stroked her back.  Finally he pulled back to look at the robot, not directly in the eyes, hen ever did that anymore.  "Dawn and Willow won’t let that ever happen."

Finally the fear signals had traveled to all of her body and her face reflected the fear, her eyes wide. "Even when the real Buffy is back?"

"Probably was." Cordelia replied with a shrug. "I mean, there can’t be that many evil lawyers who aren’t part of Wolfram and Hart, can there? Though honestly, if she was evil, I’m surprised she didn’t try to kill you… considering who you look like.”

Looking like the Slayer may have its perks when it came to intimidating the enemy— but not if they figured out you actually weren’t the Slayer, or were just too vengeful or stupid to care in the first place.

"Do you know her name?" Cordelia questioned, more out of pure curiosity than anything else.

"My data bank says her name was Lilah," she told Cordelia, glad she asked. "At first she thought I was Real Buffy. But she didn't attack. She seemed to just want to argue. Maybe she was biding her time. A lot of baddies do that, huh? Evil people talk about their evilness a lot."

"Oh god," Lucy groaned when she heard the bot singing. It seemed that movie was on repeat at home lately and it was driving Lucy crazy. Well, crazier. Looking up from the paperwork she was working on, she forced a smile, "So you’ve seen that too?"

"I can tell," she continued to smile as she pulled out of the embrace. "Did the dog enjoy it?" she asked as she started into the kitchen to retrieve a plate, fork, and knife.  "Do you….Can you eat?" she asked, not sure whether or not she should retrieve a plate and fork for the bot as well.  She didn’t think so, but figured it would be rude not to ask…or maybe it was rude to ask.  Lucy wasn’t sure.

"No thank you. I don't require food," she told her. Some times she wished she could. People seemed to truly enjoy things like cake and brownies. "I wish I could, though," she admitted. She felt safe telling Lucy this fact. "What's it like?" she asked "To eat cake, I mean? People really like it. They seem to prefer it to vegetables and other nutritious things."

Spike felt the vice on his emotions squeeze at him as the robot clutched to him.  He heard the terror in her voice.  It didn’t matter that she didn’t look distressed, because he hadn’t been able to look the robot in the eyes since Buffy had died.  Spike’s brain went to the thought of Buffy lying dead, in the darkness.  He mechanically reached up and pressed his hand to the robot’s back.

"I know…"  Spike muttered softly.  "You’re still here."

Perhaps it was because she was programmed to like Spike. Perhaps it was the perfection of her human-like qualities. Whatever the reason, she reached over and hid her face in his shirt.

"I don't want to be disassembled."

"I don’t…" she looked around "think so. I’m pretty sure I’m a free robot now. Why do you say that? Are you interested in owning me?" she asked.

"I can fight!" the Bot put up her fists and took fighting stance. "I’m not a coward!" There was a spark of emotion she was unfamiliar with. Was it anger? She stood up to the vampire. "You want to fight? Let’s fight!"

"Getting all plucky and reckless now? How intriguing. Just like the real Buffy. I wonder if it ever convinced her friends.” She taunted tirelessly, before taking a single step closer. “If you want to fight me, make the first blow. Or is there a password I have to enter for that?”

The Bot scanned her own internal system and realized everything was speeding up, almost as if there was a disruption of some sort. An abnormality. Then she realized she was processing the very real emotion of aggravation. It took longer than it would a real person for her face to reflect this but once the expression reached her exterior it became clear she was truly angry.

She knew it was a reckless idea, judging by Darla's age and standing as a bad vampire, but she balled her fist up and delivered a quick punch anyway. It would be a good one, too. Her bones were metallic and she had no need to rest between punches.
