Royal Street, New Orleans in the 1950s.
I wish I could just step right in.
Reading the book with the smell of a warm tropical rain, wet ground and crushed flowers. I have banana tree in the back yard and an avenue with big, moss covered trees in front of the porch. New Orleans is everything that I ever imagined it to be. Garden District is quiet and marvelous, with its splendid houses and lush greenery. French Quarter is buzzing with life and music late into the night. People are loud and kind and I understand about half of what they are saying. I’m wearing flowers in my hair and I haven’t felt so alive in a long time.
I am so in love with this city.
