Fun fact!
The Dora Milaje in Black Panther are based on the Dahomey Amazons, who were the only documented OFFICIAL, FRONTLINE, COMBAT-BASED all-female military unit to this day.

Sucks that we need this advice, but great that it’s being shared.
This is actually a pretty big thing that happens in minority communities
Solid advice!!

Oh Billy, you look so small right there…
Superman’s sheer anger over Billy Batson’s situation is a sight to behold. Batman and Robin get away with it because he knows it’s the world’s best internship and that Bruce is willing to put out all the stops to protect him. But Billy? He doesn’t have anyone looking out for him. And that pisses off Superman more than anything.
Seriously, Clark’s face here
He is ready to kick the ass of whoever put this boy in this situation SO HARD
Next page he really lets the Wizard Shazam have it.
Shit, son. I might have to buy this book for those last two panels alone.
When Superman is written well he is an amazing goddamned character.
these few pages are some of my favourite in comic book history. So good. For anyone wondering what the next few pages look like, here you go:
This is a bigger deal than some of you might think, because Superman is one of the heroes in the DC Universe who keeps his secret identity pretty damn secret, because as probably the most powerful and influential person on earth, a lot of people do not wish him well - and would jump at the chance to hold people dear to him as leverage.
Yet, he trusts this poor, scared little kid. To comfort him, and entrust him with his biggest secret - just as Billy did for him.
Superman is just really important, ok?
this for people to truly understand superman
I have read this over a dozen times now, and it makes me tear up EVERY TIME.
This is my Superman. Forever.
Best. Superman.
“Superman is boring because he’s all powerful and you can’t hurt him. He’s too much of a boy scout. Superman sucks.” Those people don’t get it. This is Superman done right.
There will never be a time when I won’t reblog this.
Because yes. THIS is Superman as he is meant to be. THIS.
Sadly only have one in the barrel for Sups, but man is this an important one. Everyone focuses on his damn powers all the time.. but NEWSFLASH guys: all superheroes basically boil down that way. All of them.
ALL OF THEM.
That is what ‘super’ means. There is something beyond the pale that pulls them through. Something extra-ordinary. We aren’t talking about your neighbor just running in the door of your burning home to save you, we aren’t talking about just a paramedic doing every thing she can to patch up your tramatized body, we aren’t just taking about some normal human taking a stand in the middle of a protest to stand against injustice at the possible cost of their life. All of these are heroes and all these are super important… but that’s what makes them more amazing then superheroes.
Superheroes are based more in metaphor, allegory, myth, legend, and fable. There is a side to superheroes that is cathartic, where they punch the bad guys and save the day no problem (batman can win any battle given enough prep, anyone? Like I said: ALL OF THEM). But it’s what each hero can represent, what lesson they carry.
Batman is about taking a pain and working through it toward a better goal. He punches baddies, sure, but as you saw in the other reblogs, he cares, he wants to help his enemies because he sees the same pain in them.
Batman represents the past.
Wonder Woman makes choices based on compassion. She cares without need of compensation or recognition, but is satisfed equally whenever she makes a new friend as well as making an enemy into an ally.
Wonder Woman represents the present.
Superman is powerful beyond measure. Sure it can often make him a bit boiler plate when it comes to a punch up of superheroic levels. But like the others, it’s not this that makes him amazing, inspiring, or great. It’s that he has all this power, and (in the best stories) tries his best to put it to good use to help the people. When you boil him down, he believes power should help raise up others around you. His prime opponent, Lex Luthor, is a grade A jackass the likes of which we currently have running the country (save he is like a billion times smarter then the irl villains). Lex is about internal, for your own, on your own, help no one else unless it helps you attitude. An attitude that prevails as a strong American sentiment from its beginning to so much so today.
Superman stands against that idea. Superman represents the people and the good that can be done no matter how strong you may be. He stands to say ‘helping others is exactly the way to make the world a better place’. It won’t happen over night, he knows that, but he works toward that dream. He is a bit stary-eyed and can sometimes even be naive about it, but he isn’t stupid. He just has one of the biggest hearts on the planet.
Superman, the man of tomorrow, represents the future.
That is your trinity, DC. That is the truth of the trinity if done right and well, as some creators have done. As you can see above.
Most don’t realize Superman’s whole thing is he is like a God trying to be Human. This is why edgy-DCU superman will always fall short. Movies focus on god, not the man.
If anyone’s looking to read this, it’s Superman/Shazam First Thunder, from 2006
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman/Shazam:_First_Thunder
This is why he’s my favorite!!
I tried.
Again.
Misinformation is also a virus and our country is just as infected with it as it is with COVID-19.
Bunk thinks he is perfectly innocent publicly posting his bad information. That he is not harming anyone. But he has influence over his loved ones and his friends and maybe even strangers that see his nonsense.
He is a potential superspreader of misinformation.
And that is dangerous.
It's clear he did almost no research. It's clear he is basing his opinions on scraps of information he heard god knows where. And yet he speaks with authority and freely spreads his thoughts without a care that what he says is actually true.

I usually try to post fun happy things here, but I think it is important to see these conversations. Maybe you can improve upon what I did in your own personal debates. I know trying to convince people is difficult and frustrating, but we must try to stop the spread of misinformation. We need to get through to those friends and family members who have been duped by the likes of Tucker Carlson and other hucksters.
In many cultures, ethnic groups, and nations around the world, hair is considered a source of power and prestige. African people brought these traditions and beliefs to the Americas and passed them down through the generations.
In my mother’s family (Black Americans from rural South Carolina) the women don’t cut their hair off unless absolutely necessary (i.e damage or routine trimming). Long hair is considered a symbol of beauty and power; my mother often told me that our hair holds our strength and power. Though my mother’s family has been American born for several generations, it is fascinating to see the beliefs and traditions of our African ancestors passed down. We are emotionally and spiritually attached to our hair, cutting it only with the knowledge that we are starting completely clean and removing stagnant energy.
Couple this with the forced removal and covering of our hair from the times of slavery and onward, and you can see why so many Black women and men alike take such pride and care in their natural hair and love to adorn our heads with wigs, weaves, braids, twists, accessories, and sharp designs.
Hair is not just hair in African diaspora cultures, and this is why the appropriation and stigma surrounding our hair is so harmful.

Okay, yes, the story is hysterical… But… His voice? Yes, hello, somebody hire this man as a voice actor. He sounds like a cheerful rockslide. I need him as the Voice of God. Hell, do a live action Olympian Gods Movie and have him play Zeus. I mean, damn.
Forget about the story, ask him to read audiobooks.
Why isn’t he reading audiobooks?
