@thecatprince
it's really funny how the entire world basically just blew the fuck up six short years ago and nobody wants to admit that that may have had some lasting consequences lmao
like so much of Everything today is premised on the idea that the earth-shattering catastrophe which happened within living memory of everyone older than a third grader has had no meaningful material or psychological effects on the general public and i don't think that's good, lol.
"(some of) the top-line economic indicators (sorta) recovered (in most places) so everything is fine and we don't need to talk about it" is not a sustainable framework for interfacing with reality
"why is everyone so angry and paranoid now?" "why is politics so dysfunctional now?" "why is [x] [y] and [z] now? blah blah blah"
2020:
Mel picks up a night shift occasionally. She starts developing friendships with Shen (who brings her an extra donut from Dunkin) and Abbot (who learns that like him, Mel doesn’t have a lot of close people around her anymore). They bond over her time at the VA and Mel catches herself feeling like she’s accidentally joined a club that she never tried out for. It’s nice to be included.
When Frank sees Ellis on day shift more often he’s relieved to see a friend. Someone who doesn’t try to overanalyze every decision he makes as if he’s trying to steal meds. But the best part is that Ellis never asks about his ex-wife.
So like ships in the night, Mel and Frank miss each other but eventually, Shen starts to notice Frank lingering in the ambulance bay during a shift switch. Ellis catches a neatly written form signed by Mel politely requesting a locker switch that gives Frank a spot that he doesn’t need to crouch for.
Abbot sees it all unfold and smiles. Ah, of course. If anyone was going to good enough to pursue Mel King, it’d be the guy with brass balls.
new tdeardz interview clip where she says mel is struggling more with her independence and finding relationships/ trying to help people around her gives me kingdon hope… yes mel independent mel go find frank who’s struggling to live sober and lean on him and let him lean on you 🤭🤭
Rabbot Morning Coffee
Planned to do a quick and easy drawing, nothing too complicated. Four days later here I am.... I regret nothing.
Sunrise yoga anyone?
love notes from my chungus wife who i hate
Thinking about Mel and Langdon sitting side to side charting when Frank notices Mel's shoelaces coming undone and casually putting her foot on his lap to tie them back, then giving a tiny loving tap on her heel afterwards so she knows to bring her leg back down. No eye contact. No communication. Seamless interaction like they've done this hundreds of times before.
Frank + making Mel smile
i'm straight up 2 busy to draw but i sketched this so fast like a madman know id be drawing them all day if i had the time
"there's no platonic explanation for this" some of y'all need better friends
"there's no platonic explanation for this" some of y'all need to be better friends
"Tattoos are becoming unpopular", "piercings are unpopular again", "keep your hair natural never dye it again, it's the trend now" literally fuck off I know what y'all are doing
I need Mel hip-checking Frank out of the way when he stupidly tries to lift something he shouldn’t in S3.
Patient starts choking.
Frank: “We need to sit him up-“ and goes to lift this grown man up.
Mel *whoosh* *knock* *takes over the lifting while Frank blinks in confusion from halfway across the room*
frank and mel are ready for the cold
