Hello again...

I haven’t been very active on my Tumblr this past year, but I wanted to reassure you all that I am STILL as much a thrift and charity shop fan as ever.

I discovered this gorgeous oriental silk blouse in a local charity shop for just £2.99 quite recently, and wanted to share it with you all. 

I’m wearing it with indigo blue American Apparel pencil jeans, a vintage leather jacket, tan woven leather sandals and- bien sûr- matching red lipstick! 💋

I will be posting again soon, and I can’t wait to see what you all think of my latest treasures.

I'm really conscious of my weight, especially when charity shopping. Do you have any advice on charity shopping? And when I do find pieces I like, I'm either too scared to buy them or even try it on because a lot of vintage clothing is quite a statement, which I love but I just don't know how to pull off. Can I have some serious style tips haha

Aw honestly, don’t be shy- it’s like riding a bike! I have friends of all different shapes and sizes, all of whom can wear vintage just as well as the next. Just play it safe with whatever you’re comfortable with, and take it from there. Perhaps try accessories (little scarves, shoes and bags) to get you started?

When standing in front of a rack of clothes in a charity/vintage shop, look for fabrics that jump out at you first of all. (For example, when shopping on the high street, do you normally go for... polka dots? Stripes? Paisley? 90s Versace prints? Turtlenecks? Things with gold buttons on?!) Just get really stuck in there, spend a good ten minutes going through every single thing on that rail and hold it up against you in the mirror if you want to see how it looks for length etc. You might reject everything there... I often do, but it just means when you do find something you love, you’ll be extra pleased about it!

If you’re conscious about wearing certain items, I still think there’s a few good go tos. You can never go wrong with high waisted styles (such as skirts & trousers), sheepskin coats, denim jackets, vintage pattern shirts, cool leather shoes and bags... these sorts of things work for almost any body type! Some charity shops even allow you to return or exchange items if you try them on and home and change your mind.

Hope this helps... I buy things all the time that I try on at home and then have second thoughts about, but it’s just trial and error... since it’s all for charity I don’t feel so bad about the money (which is often only a couple of quid), and if you go for vintage items, you can always have a go at selling it if it’s not right for you, so take some risks! :) xxx

I love the curios you find in second hand shops with history. This one is quite bittersweet. The chest of drawers had itemised labels on each drawer- I can't decide whether they were stuck there by a very organised and doting wife, or if whoever owned the drawers didn't have such a good memory in later years.

Hey thanks so much! If you only get one day to go around the charity shops, I highly recommend starting in the west end, and sticking to great western road, byres road and partick- you can get to them all via the subway or a bit of walking if you're up for it! Enjoy :) xxx

Vintage Burberry men’s shirt 

Ladies- run, don’t walk, immediately now to your dad/stepdad/granddad/brother/boyfriend/male neighbour’s wardrobe and liberate all their unloved oversized shirts.

This 90’s corduroy-denim shirt is the perfect easy-wear item over jeans or leggings... I’ve played up to the preppy feel with the half bun and giant pearl earring, but I avoid it looking too ‘ya-ya on a gap yah’, by toughening the look up with my leather jacket and vintage sandals.
