We Were Born Different || Super Human AU
Percy’s fingers ran through Stiles’ hair as he looked out the window of the car, feeling Tobias’s eyes on them but his mind was miles away, filling with memories of his twin. It seemed seeing his brothers again brought them all back to the surface.
He remembered when they first found out that they could turn into wolves when they were really young. They didn’t know it wasn’t normal so they turned whenever they could and just played as wolf pups, it was amazing. They actually got along with their wolves too, Percy’s wasn’t as bad as it was now.
Then their dad gave them to the government and their lives went to hell after that, experiments and everything else. Then they met Stiles and the three of them became a family. A little family but family nonetheless. It helped all three of them get through what the people in that hell hole was putting them through.
He broke out of his thoughts when he heard Tobias and he frowned a bit, “Okay.” He agreed easily, knowing that he had to keep the male calm but it was true. He was going to teach him how to get used to his new power then they were going to take the place down then disappear after Stiles got better, if he got better.
He smiled back slightly at Tobias before looking back down at Stiles, begging in his mind for him to be okay. He had to be okay.
Tobias nodded hesitantly at the wolfboy before letting out a sigh, his shoulders relaxing even if he didn't know they were stiff the first place. It felt weird to actually open up to someone like that, even if it were just him trying to comfort himself; the fact that someone else was there to approve his thoughts brought a sort of easiness to him, knowing that he wasn't just lying to himself like he'd usually think he would be.
Maybe this is what it means to be in a pack, Tobias thought as he drove quietly into the dark forest, Not just a pack, family. he thought, that one words making his eyes flick over to the two boys at the back.
He realized that the comfort he felt was not a new one, just one that he hadn't experienced in a long time. It was the same easiness he had when he still had a family, when his mom was still alive and his dad didn't beat the shit out of him every day. But now he's left wondering if he can consider Percy and Stiles his family, or even if they consider him as one.
At the back of his mind, he knew he wanted to. Wanted to belong, and want to be longed. But instead, he shook his head; the distrust he had grown all over the years preventing him to do so. He can't consider them family, not yet.
Mostly because he doesn't trust himself to be able to keep up with the two right now. Despite all that they've been through over one day and night, they still had the capability of leaving without him and still being okay. He was still expendible. Or at least, he thought he was.
About fifteen minutes had passed before he finally saw the light of civilization and dawn up ahead. He didn't realize they'd taken up that much time running. The good news was, the town that they had entered was not a morning person; the streets only littered with a few early birds.
"W-Where's the hospital?" he cleared his throat, looking back at Percy for guidance as he pulled up on the main road and increased his speed a little; now that they were out of the woods... ish, he didn't have to go slow to avoid being seen. What mattered now was getting Stiles help as early as possible.
"We better make this quick, Perce, we're out in the open and people are about to start waking." he warned, giving Percy an encouraging nod.

Percy wanted to reach out and touch Tobais to make sure he was alright but that would probably make it worse. He would know. When he first started getting the ability to take away pain from someone he could barely handle it. He would take away everything from someone, even if it was as small as a pain from a paper cut.
Being around Stiles and Adam gave him plenty of practice on that part, helping him gain control of the ability and even control over how to ignore the pain he was taking from someone else at that moment. It came in handy.
He swallowed and blinked at Tobias for a moment, wondering if he could take away the pain he was feeling, if he was feeling any pain but decided that since he currently wasn’t dying that he didn’t have to try and take away that pain.
“Yeah, he’s breathing somewhat normally.” He answered, looking back down at his friend with a small frown, hoping he wouldn’t die. He really wasn’t ready to bury another brother, not at the moment. He probably would never be ready actually.
Tobias watched the two through the rearview mirror and nodded, letting out a shaky breath before finally starting the car and driving off to God knows where. He liked to think that he was driving towards where they were initially headed for before Percy's brother interrupted, though.
He drove silently, keeping his eyes on the dark forest road with the help of the slight anxiety he received from Percy. Literally. All the while, he just kept trying to take his mind off of the fact that fears kept displaying itself at the back of his head.
His fear of heights. His fear of small spaces. His fear of killing someone because of his powers. His fear of his father, being back with him and spending each day dreading another strike. His fear of Stiles dying. His fear that he'd lose the only two left he had. His fear that the wouldn't make it through this alive.
He couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't distract himself at all in silence.
"If..." he began, eyes on the road, but constantly shifting in fear, "When we get out of this, we're going to take Stiles to a hospital, and you're going to teach me how to handle... this," he gestured to his hand, referring to his powers, "W-We'll get better a-and find some way to take the Institute down, or run away and hide or whatever we want to do after" he rambled on, only half knowing what he was saying, "...Okay?" he said, looking at Percy nervously through the mirror.
A part of him hoped that what he said was true. That they would get out of this, that they would have a tomorrow. What he said was honestly more of a comfort to him than to Percy. He had to think of something after this, to think there was something better. Part of him realized that this was the fear that Percy had, mixed in with a few of his.
"Okay." he said again, mostly to himself as he gave Percy a smile. Probably the only one that he truly meant for the other boy to see.

Nates head had turned, now crinkling his nose up a bit. His hand lifted, running his fingers under his chin a little as the man yelled. "Oh, sweetheart.." He smirked a little now. "But we should buy you a mirror, shouldn't we, love? Grumpy you is just adorable. Thinking you can affect me with a punch."
Tobias gritted his teeth harder as he lost more of his common sense, balling up his first once more before just grabbing the man by his collar and going up all over his face.
"Stop calling me that!" he screamed at his face, as if he could scare the man into stopping.
He would not let this man make a fool out of him. even if it meant making a fool out of himself.

"What, sweetheart? Oh, that bothers you, huh? But look at you be all cute and grumpy and angry," he laughed out with a roll of his eyes. "Go ahead, you'd be doing me a favour killing me," he growled at the man.
The 'cute' and 'grumpy' comment was enough of a permission he needed.
Without hesitance, he dropped the knife with a clang and connected his fists towards the other man's face, the red the only thing he was seeing from all the pent up rage.
"I AN NOT FUCKING CUTE!" he exploded, of all the things the other has done, calling him cute was the worst.

Percy was so out of it with fear of losing his best friend that he didn’t feel or notice Tobias looking at him or touching him. He felt a bit better once he let go and his mind focused for a moment before he was drowning in that fear again.
Then suddenly his mind was clear of fear and the pain he was feeling deep in his chest like it just flowed away. His clear blue eyes snapped up and he looked at Tobias with a surprised expression once he seen his state. “Did you just do what I think you did?” He asked, his voice stronger then before.
He didn’t take his eyes off of Tobias as he continued to take the pain away from Stiles but it wasn’t that much of a problem now, not with the fear that was clouding his mind gone. “Thank you.” He said softly, smiling at Tobias.
Tobias swallowed dryly and nodded at Percy before letting out an exhausted breath, staggering back a bit and having to lean on his knees to stay upright. Once he knew that whatever he did worked, that Percy would be fine, the full exhaustion started to seep in.
It was a terrible feeling, like he'd drank a full glass of poison, making his breathing hot and heavy, his insides feeling like they were rotting from inside out. His headed pounded harshly as well, so not used to the sudden burst of adrenaline from a foreign source.
He wondered if this was the same amount of difficulty Percy had to endure whenever he took away the pain, because if it was, the man would probably gain more respect than he gave Percy credit for. He wondered which was worse; the sting of pain, or the anxiety of fear.
He panted heavily for a few more moments, eyes closed and face covered in sweat, before he finally pushed himself up and focused on Percy. "N-No prob." he breathed out, giving him a tired smile, "G-Gonna need to practice that," he tried to joke, giving a short chuckle before staggering himself towards the driver's seat.
He knew that if he was ever going to do that in the future again, he was going to need to train it, get used to it, so he doesn't end up like he's feeling now. Because right now, all he felt was exhaustion and anxiety plaguing his entire form. But he couldn't give in now, he still had to get Percy and Stiles to a safer place. Because he and Percy made a promise to each other; they'd all carry each other's weight.
And he was determined as hell to prove that to the wolfboy.
He took a few seconds to start the car, taking a deep breath, "Y-You two okay back there?" he called out, looking at the two at the back through the rear view mirror in

Nate’s brows lifted before chuckling a bit. The human was just too aggressive for his own good. “You probably should, sweetheart,” he cooed with a little chuckle in the end. “You’re going to end up getting yourself kiled if you act like this, always.”
The other's laidback mood just made Tobias' mood sour, for some reason anything he said made his anger even worse. Every word, every gesture, every look, just pressed all his buttons in the wrong way.
"Call me that again and maybe I'm the one who won't end up dead." he spat out, one hand slithering its way around the other's throat while another reached for his knife.
In hindsight, all of this was probably stupid. But the idea of the other dying made him not care.

Percy slowly looked up at Tobias when he heard the nickname that only a few people called him, it sent warmth through him but he was worried about Stiles.
“Can’t stay here.” He mumbled, continuing to take away the pain. At least if Stiles didn’t make it he wouldn’t have felt the pain that killed him. He blinked back tears at the thought of losing his best friend and shook his head to clear his thoughts.
He listened for a moment, “There’s a hotel a few miles down the road. We can stop there for the night.” He said with a flat voice, shifting around to pick Stiles up as gently as he could. “Can you drive?” He asked, looking over at Tobias for a moment before ducking his head back down to stare at Stiles.
He needed to get them into a safe place before breaking down. He’ll break down later, not right now. He had to think about getting them safe and away from his brothers first then and only then could he allow himself to break down.
He walked Stiles towards the back seat of the car and carefully slid him inside before climbing in after him, setting his head on his lap so he could continue to take away the pain even though his body was close to his limit.
Tobias watched Percy sadly as the boy made sluggish movements, looking like the mental stress he was bearing was physically draining him. Hearing him speak wasn't much better either; the same voice that lead them through all this was now barely a fragile whisper.
The man then understood why Percy had done all he did; why he put himself through so much pain by taking others. It's because seeing the ones you care about in pain hurts more than the physical pain. And if he was given the power to take away the pain, like the blonde did, he would be doing the same thing. Taking away the pain from the ones he cared for the most.
And right now, all he had were Percy and Stiles. He couldn't care about anyone as much as he cared for the two. And that was saying something given the short amount of time they had with each other.
Tobias cleared his throat and nodded, "Y-Yeah." he croaked out, "Yeah, I can drive." he clarified, wanting nothing more than just to make things easier for the two.
In a silent agreement, he then helped Percy bring Stiles to the backseat of the car. He honestly thought that they shouldn't move Stiles this much, because that might make it worse. But Percy was right. They couldn't stay here. They couldn't stay where they could be killed at any second. At least in a hotel, they have safety in numbers.
Once both Percy and Stiles were in the backseat, Tobias helped close the car door. He glanced at the two for a while, and couldn't help but feel the sadness weigh down on him again thinking of what may happen if Stiles wouldn't make it through.
No, you can't afford to think like that.
Steeling in a breath, Tobias swallowed hard before nodding to himself. He had to be the strong one now, for the three of them. He had to keep the hope that everything will be alright despite how it seems now. With one last flat smile towards Percy, he subconsciously reached out and gave Percy's arm a reassuring squeeze.
Then he felt it.
A jolt went right through him in a fraction of a second, and instantly he jerked back his arm from the boy. In that fraction of a second, Tobias felt his heart suddenly speeding up, his blood suddenly pumping faster, and his senses jolting with adrenaline. He felt fear.
His brow furrowed in confusion as he looked at Percy and then to his hand. It felt strange and out of place to have this sudden, foreign fear consume you. It felt strange to suddenly feel awake in adrenaline just by sheer touch. But now, Tobias' heart was racing, not because of that fear, but because of something else.
He knew that he had control over fear, make them into reality and inflict it onto other as well. But it had never occurred to him the possibility of taking away fear. Taking away fear from someone else.
Which means...
With his heart beating at a slightly faster pace, and sweat beginning to form on his forehead, he reached for Percy's forearm once again and closed his eyes in concentration. He focused on that tugging feeling right at his gut, that strange pull that he had felt earlier, and then it came.
He had to take in a sharp breath once he felt the adrenaline start to seep from Percy to him. He had to concentrate on the process of taking away instead of the slight panic he began to feel. Even if it wasn't pain that he was taking away, he could at least remove the fear that pain instills. He could at least help Percy gain a peace of mind.
After some time, or at least until Tobias felt that he couldn't take it anymore, Tobias pulled his arm with a deep breath. He was breathing heavy, his face covered in sweat, and part of him felt like he was about to freak out. But he tried to ignore all of that. Instead, he tried to focus on Percy, and whether or not what he did worked.
We Were Born Different || Super Human AU
Percy’s hands were shaking badly as he tried to stitch up Stiles quickly, head spinning with the pain he was feeling from Stiles and himself, having gotten scraped by a bullet on his arm. He wished he could heal the wound instead of just taking away the pain, maybe he could save Stiles then.
He didn’t fight Tobias when he took the needle and realized with clarity that Stiles was his brother in every sense of the word. He remembered something Adam always used to say, ‘Family doesn’t end in blood’ so he went by Stiles’ head taking away his pain.
He bent his head down and rested his forehead against his friend’s upside down, whispering words to him that could barely be heard, “Stay awake, Stiles. I need you to stay awake for me…..I can’t lose you too. Would lose my mind if that happened, don’t make me be alone again.”
He closed his eyes tightly and fought back the tears even though you could clearly hear in his voice that he was failing. He couldn’t deal with another person close to him dying, not again. Tobais and Stiles were the only people he had left that he cared about.
With one last lingering glance at Percy and Stiles, Tobias turned his attention to the task he had in hand. He took a shaky breath as he adjusted the needle between his thumb and his middle finger, stretching out the string from where Percy left off before finally taking a look at the wound.
It wasn't as big as he thought, thumb-sized at best, but the problem, Tobias realized, was not how wide the wound was, but how deep it went in. A part of him started to worry if it had hit any vital organ, but all he could do now was assume that a stitch up would be the best.
Swallowing hard and letting out a shaky breath, he hesitantly brought the needle to the boy's skin and gingerly pierced through a piece of skin; a part of him was tense at first, expecting the boy to react in pain, but that part of him disappeared when he was met with only quiet.
He didn't know how to feel about that quiet. Didn't know whether it was a good thing or a bad. All he knew was that he had to get him stitched up as fast as he can and bring Stiles to a place that can actually patch him up.
With a new found cause, Tobias began stitching up the bullet hole on Stile's abdomen. A part of him was sickly grateful with the fact that he's had experience stitching himself up for when his dad left him deep wounds, but most of him was just saddened that he had to do it on someone else now.
"Come on, Stiles. Hold on there." Tobias whispered under his breath, silently praying to God that he'd be alright. That Percy'd be alright. That they would all be alright.
Tobias didn't know where this level of care came from at all; but deep inside him, he knew that if he had the chance, he'd take the bullet instead of Stiles. So at least if it were him that might die, it wouldn't hurt as much to the two; him being a stranger and all. He would've taken the bullet if he could, because he owed these two his life for giving him just that small amount of hope he needed.
He finished up the stitch, and gingerly secured the string, cutting off the excess before exhaling shakily.
"Perce..." he whispered, looking up at the boy, "I-It's done. All we can do now is stay here and wait for him to pull through." he nodded, phrasing it carefully to sound like he knew he'd make it. There was just no other way. Stiles had to stay alive.
With a swallow, he looked at Stiles' pale face, then to Percy's distraught one; it was his turn to give the hope back.
"H-He'll make it through. I promise."
We Were Born Different || Super Human AU
Percy kept looking behind them to make sure they weren’t being followed and knew they had to ditch the car right when they got into a town were they couldn’t be found.
At Tobias’s question, he only got angrier and tightened his grip on the wheel as he drove. “They shot at us. They were never here to help us, they probably had someone start the fire,” He paused before hitting the steering wheel, “I told you they were hunters but what I didn’t tell you is what they hunt…They hunt down people like us.” He admitted before his nose was hit with the scent of blood.
He quickly hit the breaks and pulled over to the side of the road before turning around to look at Stiles, to see his best friend bleeding from a wound on his side. “Fuck!” He cursed before he quickly started dragging Stiles out of the car as gently as he could and laid him down on the ground.
“I need you to help put pressure on his wound.” He said to Tobias before grabbing the keys and unlocking the trunk to see if there was a first aid kit or not. He found a small one and slid to his knees next to Tobias and Stiles.
He gently pushed Tobias’s hands away and lifted up Stiles’ shirt before digging into the kit for a thread and needle. He found one but he had to get the bullet out first so he stuck his fingers into the wound and yanked out the bullet in one move, taking away Stiles’ pain with his other hand.
He glanced up at his best friend’s face and noticed he was even more pale then before so he quickly started stitching him up while taking away his pain. His eyes clouded over with tears more then once but he kept blinking them away and trying not to break down. His brothers were trying to kill him and his best friend was dying because of them.
Tobias' eyebrows furrowed in confusion before he broke out into a swearing fit, "Shit!" he spat out angrily, slamming his hand on the back of the empty seat before running both hands across his face.
He felt vulnerable. He felt bare. He felt like any minute, any second, there'd be something around the corner to take the small time span of freedom that they managed to steal away from the Institute.
If he hadn't done it before, he knew he'd have freaked out by now. After years of practice, all Tobias could feel was the tight consticting of his chest as he tried to breath out normally. He couldn't panic. Not now.
He let out another, breathless swear when the car stopped abruptly, having to hold on to the leather of the seats not to be brought by the car's momentum.
"What the--" he cut himself off as soon as the wolfboy pulled Stiles out of the car. It was then did Tobias' heart drop. Stiles was pale. Ashen pale. And it only made the blooming blood stain even more pronounced.
Without even saying a word, Tobias scrambled to the boy quickly and obediently did as he was told, pressing his hands around the wound making sure that pressure wasn't too much.
Tobias swallowed nervously and let out a shaky breath, he began sweating profusely as he looked up at Stiles in urgency and decided to try and talk the boy to fight the bouts of unconsciousness.
"Stiles, hey. Hey, you're going to be okay." He began rambling on to the boy, removing his hands as Percy insisted and just focusing on the boy on the ground. "You gotta stay awake, Stiles. Come on, just hold on." his voice cracked, the gravity of the situation starting to weigh down on him.
The man glanced at Percy and knew he was on edge too. The way he shook as he tried to keep the needle steady. The way his eyes gleamed like he was fighting back the tears. The way it looked like he was one accident away from breaking. And that was the moment Tobias realized that Percy shouldn't be the one doing this.
Trying to stich up his dying best friend and at the same time trying to take the pain away. In that moment, Tobias realized that if Percy took on any more weight, he'd snap. And they would never survive if it happened then.
"Percy," Tobias croaked out before gently clasping his hand over the wolfboy's forearm, "Percy, let me do that." he said more clearly, voice shaky, but the determination was there.
Gingerly, he tried to ease out the needle from Percy's fingers before looking up at the blonde again, "I-I'll stitch him up. You, you need to comfort your brother." the man emphasized, gesturing to Stiles.
Scew his blood brothers. Family is built upon love, not blood. And to Tobias, there hasn't been a stronger bond of family compared to the one Percy and Stiles had. They were real brothers.
"Talk to him. Make sure he stay's awake. Focus on taking the pain away, and I'll stitch him up." Tobias said firmly, giving the boy a slight nod to reassure him that things were going to be alright, or at least, just for this moment.

Hey, look who's alive?
Sad truth is, my muse for Tobias never left. I just didn't have the time to let him roam free.
We Were Born Different || Super Human AU
Percy’s senses were acting up, he kept smelling something burning and his ears could hear the fire. He was confused and figured it was just some deer hunters with a fire at night, though he would see it if that was the case.
He was so distracted by his brothers that he couldn’t focus on anything really. He couldn’t focus on anything but the pain he felt from Adam’s death and it just clouded his senses.
He made a noise to stop Tobias from running ahead when he heard the sound of a gun cocking and automatically looked back towards his brothers to see the guns pointed at him and Stiles. He narrowed his eyes and let out a loud growl before waving Stiles up ahead once he heard the yell.
He quickly shifted before jumping at the biggest of his brothers, Sam, and biting into his arm, swinging around with it still in his jaws so when Dean tried to shoot him, he would get Sam in the side. He let go of his brother before taking off towards Tobias and Stiles, whimpering as he felt a pain in his left front paw.
He turned back into his human form and slid to a stop next to the two males. “We gotta go, now.” He said firmly before tugging them to one of the cars that his brothers brought, having brought two. He lifted the hood of both and tore out the battery of the Impala before making sure they couldn’t track the Mustang down.
He shoved Stiles in the back before waving at Tobias to get into the passanger side of the car. He hissed as he threw himself in the driver’s side and started hot wiring the damn thing. He looked up just in time to see Dean and Sam coming threw the trees while shooting the guns in the hands, causing him to throw the car in reverse and start driving out of the trees.
He really should have known that they weren’t going to help me but he desperately wanted to hold onto that little piece of family he had left. “You both okay?” He asked, looking at Tobias them back at Stiles, frowning when he saw his best friend holding his side.
Stiles was shot and he couldn’t heal like Percy could but Percy couldn’t smell the blood since his nose was only smelling burning wood.
Tobias' heart beat like a drum as the the raging fire that was once the Cabin glimmered in his eyes. He was both caught up in the fear and appall of it all.
Their only safe house, gone. The only place he thought he'd be able to call a haven, gone. It filled the man with so much fear, so much panic, with the idea that nowhere was safe. That every turn he'd take, he'd be staring at death right in the face.
He was so caught up in his head, so consumed with paranoia, that the only thing that brought him out of it was the sound of gunshots ringing throughout the entire forest. Suddenly, Percy and Stiles were right behind him. He, for some reason, already knew there was something wrong with the wolfboy just by his looks. They had to go. Now.
Tobias immediately sprung to life and bolted for the car that Percy slid in, slamming the door right beside him. So many questions buzzed in his head, so many thoughts. And he wasn't one to let them all crowd in his head.
"What the hell happened back there?!" Tobias demanded, still hearing the blood pump through his ears. "Where the hell did your brothers go?" he added, sounding more angry than the actual terror that he was experiencing.
Lucy rocked back on her heels as she tried not to bounce. She was excited since she figured that she made a new friend and it always made her happy when she made a new friend. She was amused though with how they met.
“I was making my way to the coffee shop but got turned around at the stop light down the street.” She answered slightly embarrassed since she normally could figure her way there by herself.
Tobias smiled with a sense of both amazement and unease; it was impressive to see a blind girl make it around on her own, but at the same time, it was also worrying because... a blind girl was making it around on her own.
Either way, the man felt a slight swell of appreciation to meet someone so... different.
"You're in luck, I'm headed there to." he stated, giving her a broad smile, as he gave her a nod.
...
Oh right.
He face palmed.
