Has Kenya Moore Has Sworn off of Black Men? #RHOA #SwirlAlert
Hey Mamas! Kenya Moore is on the chopping block tonight...or is it the pedestal?
Just a few weeks after Kenya Moore and new husband Marc Daly have announced their divorce Kenya Moore’s friends are talking, Kenya is not with the sh*t anymore…Black Men. 🤭
Kenya Moore is arguably one of the most beautiful women in media. While her time on the Real Housewives of Atlanta has been controversial and high drama, her career has been notable. A former Miss USA, starred in many movies and produced even more, Kenya is a woman of means and success.
Receipts below.
She is about her lifestyle and her craft.
Love, however, has not been kind to Kenya Moore. There were rumors of her paying men to appear as her love interest on the Housewives franchise and then we all remember Matt, the fool. I was not ready to believe that Walter was paid...I mean if I am going to pay a dude...it wouldn't be Walter. Much Shade intended.
We were all so super excited when Kenya was dating Marc Daly and then married him. Being honest tho...he never seemed into her the way that she deserved. Maybe he just didn't want to be on the show. Either way, I hated his nose ring. After getting married and having this beautiful little one, Brooklyn Daly, they are now announcing a divorce after just two years of marriage. Rumor has it, the dude was cheating. Well that was a surprise. #SIdeEye
Uhhh.
The Classy Black Mom tea is that Kenya does NOT want to be involved with any Black Men again, in the romantic sense. Now this is according to MTONews,
Kenya's pal told MTO News, "Kenya has exclusively date Black men, and she's met quite a few losers. [Kenya] told me that she's going to try and date white guys now. Hell, they can't be any worse than the Black men she's been with."
#Dead …Was this over wine or in real life?
Moore and Daly, who share 10-month-old beautiful daughter Brooklyn, announced their split after two years of marriage last week. In exclusive statements to PEOPLE, both asked for privacy.
My Kenya Moore Thots
Real talk. I would understand her deciding that this type of man is not for her. She is and has all of the things, yet the men that she has chosen are still not pulling up properly. Now could it be her? Absolutely, but more than likely...its’s not. Meeting basic brothers isn't hard...even if you aren't a basic chick. They don't come off like Smokey from Friday at first.
I would like to see Kenya broaden her horizons! So if she doesn't want to date Black men anymore… Kanye Shrug. It's like saying that you don't want to date people with children or people who aren't ambitious. We all have a preference and for specific reasons.
Classy Black Moms...are you dating Black Men or have you moved on as well? #ClutchThePearls
Stay Classy,

My 3-D UltraSound Experience At First Glance Studio! #Pregnancy
Have you heard about 3D Ultrasounds? Where you can see the baby much clearer and 4D where you can see the baby actually moving? I have been so fired up to get one of those done!

It’s an ultrasound office set up like a posh bedroom with plenty of room for your friends and family to see your baby on the big screen!! I was able to see the baby in #3D and in #4D!!! I have been super excited at the thought of being able to see my baby on a big screen live and in living color and my absolute dreams came true when I visited the At First Glance Studio in El Cerrito, California. Nestled in a wonderful neighborhood an expecting Mama and family would feel completely comfortable visiting!
My Experience
When you arrive at the location you are greeted by the warm and welcoming smile of the owner, she is also expecting and I was so excited to share Mom to Be stories with her. She is having her second child and she is a Spelmanite. I was immediately comforted and I was excited because this business is owned and operated by another Clasy, BlackGirl.
The office is quiet and professional, but the real magic happens when you enter the Ultrasound Room. Its beautiful and warm, like your own bedroom.
If you have ever had an ultrasound, you are on a tiny bed, its hard and the room is dark and not inviting for family or friends. At First Glance Studio you experience the exact oppisite. The bed is so big that my SisterFriend from Mama Knows it All, Brandi Riley was able to help me with big, fluffy pillows and sit on the bed with me.
All while my Mom was taking pictures and ohhing and ahhing at the big screen where we could all see the baby! Talk about excitement.
While the baby was a little too small to determine the sex but we could see that the baby was happy and bouncing all around!
I was so excited about this appointment that I had to share it with all of my friends online!
Me, my Sweet Pea & #SisterFriend @brandijeter who always has my back!! She joined me and my Moms while we partied and met the baby 👶🏽 live and in color @atfirstglancestudio ohhhing and ahhhhing for an hour at my baby who bounced all around my belly! You know that you have a friend when they ALWAYS cheer for you and always love you and always send opportunities your way and never judge you! I thank God for a friend like Brandi. 💗💗💗 Thank you for your continued encouragement!! And thank you for introducing me to this fabulous Ultrasound Imaging Center!!! The vibe of it is just perfect for expecting Moms!!! - - - #momlife #momstobe #classyblackgirl #classyblackMom #deltasigmatheta #17weekspregnant #sisters #momsofinstagram #momstyle #dst #pregnant #preggo

Save Your Baby's Heartbeat
One of the most precious moments that you enjoy being pregnant is hearing your baby's uberfast heartbeat. You hear it in your sleep as you prepare for your little one's new arrival. I was so excited to know that I could actually save the sound of my baby's heartbeat in a stuffed animal for me to have forever.
If you are a Mom to Be or you know one, please be sure and get a 3D/4D Ultrasound and that you go see my girl at her business At First Glance Studio!

#NaturalHair is More Than A Hashtag
Natural Hair is more than a trendy hashtag. It’s more than standing out. It’s more than just a hairstyle. It is about an intimate relationship with our unique culture and how it is intertwined with the beauty of our hair.
It All Starts with Mama
When Little Black girls are young our mothers create the ultimate relationship. They sit us between their loving thighs, grab that Wide tooth comb, the good “house brush” and Mama’s favorite grease of choice. Usually you were playing in your dolls hair too. You were able to become your Mother’s beautiful, little model. She loved herself by loving you and enjoying the bends and coils of your hair. She smiled as she sprayed conditioner on your hair and taught you the lessons of self care, the lesson of gently loving your hair and it’s texture, even that kitchen.
And Only Black Mamas can pass down #BlackGirlMagic 🤷🏽♀️
A post shared by Sharelle D. Lowery (@classysharelle) on Nov 17, 2017 at 10:54am PST
Our Black Mothers transferred real live Black Girl Magic from her hands to our hair as she created art with our beautiful strands.
The thing about Natural Hair is that even your sister who has the same Mother and Father that you do will not have your exact same curl pattern. It’s ALL yours. I have never met another Black Girl who has Hair just like mine...yet I relish in the audacity and boldness of our Natural Hair. That brashness is the beauty of who we are in just being ourselves.
When I see another Sister wearing her Natural Crown for the world to see, it makes me proud. I swell up inside and our sameness makes me smile and reach out to her and say, “I love your hair!” She usually responds back in the same manner. We build an immediate kinship with a love for ourselves and a love for our hair a joint love for our culture. One more Sista wearing Natural Hair normalizes it in our workplace, our communities and our world.
When I went Natural in 1997 it was because getting a professional creamy crack hit was expensive and I had just crossed. I didn’t have the coins for a perm and those home perms were killing the edges of people that I knew. This amazing girl (who wanted to be a Delta and who is now a Soror) volunteered to “press” my hair. I didn’t know anybody who was pressing their hair in 1997. But her hair was healthy, thick and flowing. Basically I needed help and she had a cheap answer. Little did I know that this would change my relationship with my hair and how I felt about my Natural Hair. After a while, there was no more chemically treated Hair left and while I was still wearing fake hair over my Natural Hair or pressing it...when I was at home alone I was living in my side chick Hair. I would condition it, braid it and play in it. This was the Hair of my youth. Then scary spice started wearing her hair Natural. That was it, she was cute, sassy and hair like mine. It was basically history for me. I was feeling all of these unslick edges and hair that wasn’t “nice and neat.” This was way before being Natural was fashionable and before Hashtags had even been invented.
Its Just Self Love
While some people may see us wearing our hair as a political statement (and sometimes it is), it’s more of an appreciation of ourselves and our own beauty. In a world where anything besides the westernized beauty standard of straight blonde hair is looked down upon; when we celebrate and wear all the coils and twists that define our natural hair it strengthens the entire culture. Think of how you feel when you see Colin Kaepernick wearing that Giant Afro. It’s like hearing your favorite rap song, or seeing your favorite Alvin Ailey performance or or hearing the oratorical excellence of President Barack Obama. It gives you “Black Chills” and you think to yourself, “that’s MY shit.” Those are my people, in light of all of the attempts that other people have made to bury the beauty of our culture we still rise. Our big voices, big art and even bigger hair.
So yes, Natural Hair is so much more than a Hashtag. It represents the sheer pride that defines our past and in its most natural way declares, “Look at who I REALLY am. And see that I love it.”
Natural Hair is about Relationships. Relationships with our Mothers, our Sisters our cultures and ourselves.
When you contemplate wearing your Natural Hair, think of the little girl who sees one type of beauty repeatedly. Your Natural Hair will help her look in the mirror, touch her own unique hair and imagine how beautiful she REALLY is by being exactly who God made her to be, Natural.
2nd Trimester Woes as a Geriatric Mom! +Video
My second trimester has been a doozy, literally. I have had the best of times (and the worst of times) and I wanted to share them with my readers who are following my motherhood to be journey. So let me tell you girl!
1. You WILL get hot flashes...and Cold Flashes.
I used to laugh at my Mom for her hot flashes. Now my hot flashes are like “Hey girl hey...it’s hot now.” And then....its cold.
2. You are hungry ALL of the time.
I used to wake up, Thank the Lord and Go Pee. Now sometimes I am eating BEFORE I pee. In fact the baby sometimes knocks on my uterus in the middle of the night and wakes me up telling me that I better eat or else. I hear the song, “Hungry, hungry hippos!”
3. You finally start to gain weight.
In your first trimester you don't gain that much weight. In fact I lost weight. All of the sudden I looked down and I was not sure whose stomach and thighs those were. What happened to my thigh gap...oh that’s gone….the baby took that away. Yep, you are getting fat now girl.
4. You are SOOOOOO EMOTIONAL.
I feel everything, maybe some stuff that isn’t even there. I will cry whenever anybody mentions family, Michael Jackson or anything that gives me the feels. And I am usually like b*tch of steel...I dont even have tear ducts. My ex told me that he had a new friend I felt like I had been betrayed. #WhatWorldAmILivingIn ...baby's world.
5. Sometimes your belly button will stink.
I am not sure if this happens to everybody, but I started noticing my belly hurting and then being like a little funk box. No matter what I did. Dont judge me. I am clean...but my belly button is basically like a mini dump truck.
6. You get accustomed to being uncomfortable.
I am always slightly uncomfortable. From a cramped belly to a headache to being naked in front of strangers to a back that is screaming. It’s all for the love of baby!
7. You will miss your wine.
Lord, some days after I climb the steps to this tower apartment I just want to pour a glass of wine. I will be in the spirit in about 7 months though!!!
8. You will waddle.
Yep, your sexy walking days are over honey. I felt like the world was my catwalk before October 1, 2017. These days I just scurry around the best way that I can. It gets worse every day. And I am clumsy to boot.
9. Nipples
Whoa nipples. I mean do NOT touch them. When I take my bra off I almost scream sometimes. Its tough enough that it’s time to shop for new bras for this expanding rack (I guess they are boobs now) but my nipples dont look like my own and they are sensitive AF. Like the air can blow and I can feel it.
10. Sex Dreams & Drive
Ummm...this is weird. I get to have night time sex with everyone. I mean everyone. I will not name names as not to incriminate myself. I have heard though that a LOT of women actually have full on sleeping orgasms. Nocturnal emissions and all-that isn't fair. Hopefully the third trimester will bring that along! ...because my sex drive is a mess. If I didnt have any shame I would be out here making twins.
Although the woes are crazy expecting a new life is SO amazing and exciting and I cannot wait to see what the next leg of my journey of motherhood will bring me.
Hey Moms and Moms to be out there...what are some of your Pregnancy Woes?
<iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FClassySharelle%2Fvideos%2F1159562260813533%2F&show_text=1&width=267" width="267" height="709" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true" allowFullScreen="true"></iframe>
Why We Eat Black Eyes Peas for New Years Day +Recipe
Now that I am an expecting Mother traditions are more important than ever before. I love sitting under my own Mother and listening to her discuss our family traditions.
One of the biggest traditions in Southern-based Black families are to eat Black Eyed Peas on January 1st of every year for Good Luck. While we usually have a feast of several types of foods Black Eyed Peas are the center of the meal and a Must Have on the menu.
While eating Black Eyed Peas for New Years is a tradition, it is also a wonderful time for family to come together, gather and discuss wishes and dreams for the upcoming New Year.
My Moms Black Eyed Pea Recipe is Super Simple (& Yummy!)
Ingredients
1 Pound Bag of Black Eyed Peas
1 Onion
2 Ham hocks OR 2 Turkey Wings
2 cans of chicken broth
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
Instructions
If you have fresh Black eyed peas you can begin to cook them immediately. If you have dried beans you need to give them a good soaking overnight.
After they have been soaked, rinse all of the water off of them and place them in a pot. Add all of the ingredients, saving the onions. Make sure that the peas are completely covered by the chicken broth. You will probably not have enough liquid to fully submerge all of the peas. Add two cups of water to make sure that you have all of the peas covered.
Cook on low for 2 hours. They will easily burn, so you must stir them constantly and be careful not to over stir them as you do not want Black Eyed Pea Soup.
You can also cook your Black Eyed Peas in a slow cooker. This prevents you from potentially burning the peas. You will follow the same directions, however you will need to cook the peas on low for 4-6 hours.
Do not forget that you MUST have Hot Water Corn Bread to go along with the dish and hot sauce is a good topping!
So when you hear of people saying that they are having Black Eyed Peas or Black Ass Peas (as my Mother calls them) for the New Year, now you know why. This year with my little one coming more than ever I look forward to celebrating and sharing our family traditions and special life experiences and I hope that you will adopt them and share them with your friends and as well.
What do you do to celebrate good luck and blessings for the New Year?
The Notorious Napa Wine Train and the #RHOA Fail
I have been watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta since the very first episode. Sunday nights I love curling up with a good curling up with a good bottle of wine and ke-keeing with the girls. Even the bad ones are my girls.
This Sunday was one of their infamous trips and they were in my hometown of the San Francisco Bay Area. When people come to northern California visiting Napa should always be on the itinerary because well Napa is amazing. And wine. However, what people should NOT do is take a trip on the Notorious Napa Wine Train.
Let’s break down a few years ago in 2015 when 11 women were removed from the Napa Wine Train, for Laughing While Black. This includes an 80 plus year old Black Woman.
My 2015 Video Breaks it Down...
So in 2017, when we need to be MOST Woke, the Real Housewives of Atlanta (an influential show among American women and especially women of Color), get their posteriors on the Notorious Napa Wine Train. Really?
If you are not somebody who reads Wine News or is not from this region then this news probably did not even cross your Timeline. So I am not faulting the cast members of RHOA, but the producers, are WAY faulty. This is a fundamental disrespect of the Black Community. I am sure that if these women knew the very recent history of what had happened on that train and how those women were marched through several cars like criminals and met by the police they would NEVER have gotten on that train!
The producers of RHOA know that the Napa Wine Train begged them to come and sit their Black Selves on the Napa Wine Train proving that they are no longer racist to get our powerful Black Women Dollars again. #Lies
I am here to say, I remember. I remember what you did to that Book Club and I want the producers of RHOA to be held responsible for putting these women in that very precarious situation AND I want us to ALL remember exactly who these people are.
If you would like some additional reputable references and resources, I have listed them below.
NY Times
The Guardian
Reuters
Good people and especially Black Women, stay off of the Notorious Napa Wine train!
Yours in Class,
My Fave Pregnancy Apps #MomLife
As a first time “geriatric Mom” you are pulling for straws (and information) simply trying to figure out exactly what is happening to your body and if it’s normal.
When I had implantation bleeding, I didn’t lose my mind because I learned about it online before it actually happened to me. It is a pretty trite saying, but knowledge IS power. I receive a lot of knowledge from my Mother and friends but other information is coming straight from my apps!...yes apps….like on my phone. Here are my favorite ones.
What to Expect: I love this app for two reasons: There are amazing articles, I know that my baby is now the size of a peach and I love the groups! You join a group of women who are having their baby during the same month as you are! It's like Facebook for Moms who are having their baby in your month! This is probably the app that I visit most often.
The Bump: The Bump is also awesome. They have really good high quality articles that totally come at the perfect time. It's like they know that I now have ligament pain or that I have a question about coffee. I think that they are in my brain. It's the ultimate preggo blog.
Ovia Pregnancy: This app is SOOOO thorough. You get your baby’s approximate size, the stage of development and some helpful blog posts. I also love the email digest that I receive that send me right over to the app.
Flo: Flo is always going to be my favorite, because it was at 6 Days Late on this app that I found out that I was pregnant. I used Flo to track my period because whenever I went to the doctor I never knew when my last period was. It also helped me figure out travel plans, etc. It goes from a non-pregnant status to a pregnant status and also shows you what your baby looks like...at this stage!
There are also some apps that receive my honorable mentions:
Sprout Pregnancy
Baby Story
Baby Center
Baby Story is super cute because every day I receive an alert that tells me how many days I have left until I see my Sweet Pea!
There is nothing like having a full circle of support from family to friends to my trusty apps. They have also really helped me NOT eat stuff that could have been harmful to my baby that I did not even know about.
Did you know that pregnant women should not eat cold cuts or sandwich meat unless you cook it? Nope, me neither. It was ALL in my apps as soon as I got pregnant they kicked straight info to me.
What apps or resources do you use to stay on top of your baby information?...I really want to know!! <3
Are Single Moms Undatable? #MomLife
Life is funny you know. Telling the men-friends in your life that you are pregnant. Here is my story of telling two men that I care for. I was twelve weeks and it was time.
The first one was my ex.
I was fully in love with this gentleman. However he didn’t want to have children-ever. He also had changed during our relationship and so did I. However, we were still friends and still had a little spark. He made me smile and laugh. I felt that before he caught feelings again, that he should know.
Telling my Ex
“Ex, I have something to tell you.”
“What do you have to tell me?” He was smiling, but not for long.
“I’m pregnant.”
“Ok, well congratulations!”
He seemed generally happy for me, but he had questions. I could tell that he was deflated. He asked me about the dude. I teared up a little when I told him that he probably wouldn’t be around too much. Sometimes your truth is hard.
He was so supportive that I actually felt like we had truly crossed the friendship threshold. His words were sweet, kind and encouraging.
“I bet Mom’s wishes I was the Daddy, huh?” We both laughed and agreed. We spoke for about 30 minutes and then he said that he was going to the bathroom and that he would call me back.
I sent him a thank you text for listening to me and being a good guy, I appreciated him at that moment. “I’m going to call you back in a sec.” He text me. I haven’t heard from him since. I can’t say that I was super surprised. Just a little disappointed.
My 20-year Love
I have a friend that I have literally known for 20 years. We crossed at about the same time and have always had a very close and beautiful relationship. I honestly always thought that in the end that we would end up together.
“Friend, I have something to tell you.” I felt a lump in my throat.
“What is it?” His voice was different than Ex. He sounded anxious.
“I’m pregnant.” There were a few moments of silence.
“Wow. Congratulations.”
“Thank you.”
I could feel that there were all of these questions that he had for me. Then he started asking about who this dude (the father) was. The conversation was uncomfortably short as he was getting in his Uber. I wasn’t sure that I would hear from him again after what had happened with Ex. However, this was my life and if somebody didn’t like it, it was their burden to bear, not mine.
A few hours later after watching the whole season of She’s Gotta Have It! I got a text from Friend.
“You good?”
We exchanged a few more messages and then he called me. For some reason I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. My feelings of abuse, neglect and abandonment from Black men disappeared for a few moments.
We chatted and it was a positive conversation-until the end.
Randomly my friend said, “Well I could never date you now that you have a kid. All of the lust just went out of me. I don’t date women with children.”
I was thinking to myself. “I am 3 months pregnant, trying to figure things out. I’m not looking for a date.” Instead of saying how I felt, I became defensive and asked him why he flt that way. I even reminded him of the girl he dated that had a baby. I am angry with myself for feeling like I had to make myself acceptable to date anyone. My child only makes me better, greater and more beautiful. If somebody doesn’t believe that, they don’t have to.
Draymond Green is a prime example of men being great. Dating and making family with a single Mom and his college sweetheart.
Today at 3:55am PST Draymond Jamal Green was welcomed into the world! I've never experienced such a feeling like I did when I watched his entry. Family is such an important part of my life and to welcome a kid into this world is a dream come true. @jaykay35 you were a soldier and I appreciate you more than you will ever know! My baby girl Kyla was there and slept through the entire thing but she was also a soldier through the whole process and will be a great big sister! It's been a long time coming and it has finally come where we welcome Draymond Jr. Into the world! I am super thankful and overjoyed!!! Thanks to my Mama for holding it down until I made it!

I was so angry that I called one of my Sorority sisters. She is a single, very dedicated Mother.
“Single Mothers aren’t datable.”
Her argument that there were plenty of single, available and childless women out there. And that men would much rather be with them. She named some people that we both knew.
I listened to her but then I thought about how false that is. I know plenty of friends that were single Moms that moved on, met better men and are now happily married.
My Sorority sister Jeanitra Hector married an awesome (fine ass) man and was a single Mom now they have another beautiful son and live a lavish lifestyle; my favorite Blogger and close girlfriend Brandi Riley -(formerly Jeter) Mama Knows It All married a phenomenal man and now they live a Huxtable Life and have just had the internets most beautiful baby and my little Sister Ilea Martin is engaged to a good, hardworking man, they just bought a home and my Mom already feels like she has another son because of how he treats her and ALL of us.
Birthday flow. The guys didn't get the memo that we were smiling. #birthday #selfie #family

These women were all super single Moms...but aren't anymore.
Everybody has their own story. But mine is being written every day. At this moment I’m only thinking about the healthy birth and life of my baby. Everybody is going to have something to say about my life and how I handle it. If, when I am ready, and a good man comes into my life then God will direct me to him.
Being a woman who brings life into this world who does not have partner may not be the easiest process, but its real life. We never ask these questions of men. I have dated single Dad's since I was in my 20's. I am not glorifying being a single Mom, but I’m not out here acting like it’s the worst thing either. It’s a Blessing and nothing about being a mother makes me Undatable.
I’m going to let some basic Dude keep selling that to you if you believe that. The way myself esteem is set up....I’m the baddest.

My First Trimester, Im Pregnant! #MomLife
Finding out that you are about to be a single, 40 year old first time Mother is a lot. It is heavy, scary and exciting all in one breath. I found out that I was carrying a life - a whole baby. Me, self-centered, sleep until 10 on the weekends, wine whenever and lifestyle expert (party-girl) Sharelle D. Lowery, is having a baby. #ItsTrue
October 1st was the day that changed my life. I now hear the words from Lauryn Hill, Zion.
“And I thank you for choosing me
To come through unto life to be
A beautiful reflection of His grace
For I know that a gift so great
Is only one god could create”
It’s amazing how knowing that you have a life depending on you makes you see the world in a whole different way. I actually cannot believe that I have not had a child before now. I love the way that this responsibility feels. I can see how women end up having MANY children-it’s empowering.
Implantation Bleeding
At 7 weeks and 2 days I woke up one morning on my way to work and while getting ready I noticed that I was bleeding a little bit. This was a huge fear for me. Was I already losing this blessing? I had heard about so many women who had lost so many babies. I called my mother and we went to emergency. After only about 30 minutes in the hospital I was looking at my little babies heart beat and I have never been in love like this before. Tears just rolled down my eyes. My little baby was doing fine, Sweet Pea’s heart beat was very strong. I had what was called implantation bleeding. When the little sucker plants themselves into your body to make a nice warm home sometimes you bleed a little bit. Thanks Baby! Although I was totally stressed, I was able to see my little one and now I have his first picture on my coffee table.
No Morning Sickness...However
I was nauseous almost every day. Sometimes several times a day. I have not thrown up (Thank God). As I am moving into my second trimester I do not get sick but I DO have a fussy palate. This week I only want Doritos, cheese and Bobby Salazars salsa. #KanyeShrug
Wine WhenNEVER
Big sigh, I thought that the consistent sex (with said Cutty Buddy alias Sperm Donor) would be what I would miss the most while being pregnant...but it's a nice glass of Red Wine and a cup of Coal Black Coffee in the morning time that have me jonesing. Both of which I cut cold turkey because my baby means more to me than relaxing easily or getting fired up. Honestly, it is nice to be completely lucid during this time. I don’t want to miss a single moment of being pregnant.
No Present Partner
After I celebrate with the close people that I have shared my pregnancy with, the first thing that they ask is, “Who is the Father?” This is when I have to woman up. My baby’s father is a gentleman that I met at a Warriors Finals Celebration Party. The irony is that his last name is Curry. We were cutty buddies and that is all. He was more than disappointed that I was carrying his seed. While I didn't expect for him to be doing back flips, I did not expect for him to blame me as if I had tampered with our protection, we didn't use any.
He actually asked me if I was “taking something” to help me get pregnant. I said “Yes, Dick.”
I have learned that while you can absolutely HOLD it down by yourself, that not having somebody there is painful and lonely. If by chance God sees fit for me to have another baby, I will not be alone. The baby deserves better and so does his Mother.
Amazing Support
From the time that I told every single person, except my baby’s father, everyone was excited. Even the doctor at Emergency who gave me the actual diagnosis of “pregnant.” My Mother was delighted, my little Sisters were full of Glee, my Sorority Sisters were telling me about their pregnancies from the 90’s. I felt so supported and so loved. There is nothing like knowing that people are there for you “No Matter What!” My Mom and my little sisters have been so amazing...it makes me want to cry thinking about how blessed that I am to have them.
Going Forth!
Every morning as I receive my daily message from Baby Story that tells me that I only have 199 or so days left and from Ovia who email me everyday telling me how far along my baby has developed and how many weeks and days that I am...I feel more empowered to have this baby. I want this life to impact the world, be kind to others, be better than me and bring joy to others in the way that I have experienced joy.
This is my first Baby Story of many. Welcome to My Baby’s World! I never thought that I would be a Mommy Blogger...but here I am! #MomLife

FIVE | No, You May Not Touch My Hair +VIDEO
My Hair is NOT Here For Your Experience and Neither am I.
A few months ago I was at the basic beauty supply and I was assaulted by an Asian woman who squeezed my hair like it was a sponge.
The video below explains my entire experience.
“Oh your hair, it so soft.” Don't judge me, that is how she said it.
It happened so fast that I could not stop her, but I was enraged. And what did she expect my hair to feel like? Braid hair? I am a human being, not a Barbie.
I am not a puppy, or a thing and my body is not available for you to experience whenever you feel so inclined. I was so mad that I went Live on Facebook to share my frustration. Other Black women shared with me that they had ALSO had that same experience.
I simply do not understand the phenomenon of wanting to touch somebody else's hair. I have seen women with beautiful heads of hair and I will strike up a conversation with them! Like “Girl….I love your hair! Who did it?” or “What products are you using?” and other conversations like that. However, I have never wanted to touch somebodies hair and experience it. Nope, not even one time.
I had all of my natural hair twisted (I was prepping for a style) and I was in the Benefit Brow Bar getting my eyebrows done. Upon signing in, one of the estheticians reached for one of my braids in that same squeezing motion as the Asian woman in the beauty supply,
“Oh my God, can I touch your hair?”
But it was not an ask, it was like she was preping me for the touch. I was fully prepared for this experience so I ducked like Muhammad Ali and stepped back.
“No you cannot.”
I am sure that my face told it all. She immediately apologized and probably for a few reasons:
1. She is at work and touching hair that she is not waxing off is inappropriate.
2. She realized that what she was asking was simply not cool.
At least she knew to apologize, she quickly went into the back. However, I know that she felt entitled to be able to touch my hair and a little offended that I did not want to allow her to feel the textures of my kinky, coily curls.
Black people have been ridiculed, touched and prodded since we have come in contact with white people. Since far before Sarah Bartan, known as the Hottentot Venus (which has a very negative connotation). I am not sure if it is simply the nature of white people to always want to “experience us” or if it simply that they still do not see us more that an exhibit at a Zoo and our bodies simply mean less than a white body means to them. This mentality has leaked over onto the rest of the world. Now everybody feels that we are their property.
I want ALL people to know that touching my hair without my permission (or even wishing to do so) is like touching any other part of my body. It is not ok.
This entitlement is rooted in slavery and the fact that Black people are not seen as full humans and do not truly have own-ness of even our own bodies.
Under no circumstances should you touch a Black Woman’s hair unless you have permission and an intimate relationship with her.
FOUR - Angry & Afraid in Trumps America

Feeling empowered to be a Black person, a Woman and a Delta. As I was working with Homeless Veterans, helping them to receive social services that they desperately need (and deserve) - then the news erupted.
It Started with Tiki Torches
I had seen snippets of the late night, tiki-torch session on the news circling the church of those who would be opposing them the next day. In Charlottesville, Virginia on the campus of UVA there is a statue of Robert E. Lee, confederate General. The statutes have been coming down all over the US. The Alt-Right and white nationalists had planned to protest this removal. There was also a movement of clergy and Black Lives Matter members and other people who support equality for all in America meeting at a local church to discuss their own protest to the protest. In the still of the night, spewing hate filled rhetoric, those Alt-right protesters intended to intimidate those Anti Neo Nazi protesters. They did not.
Then There was the Challenger
The protests angry white men versus damn near everybody else ensued the next day. A white woman and protester of racism, Heather Heyer, was killed and many more were injured by a domestic terrorist, James Alex Fields, Jr. Fields is a 20 year old man from Ohio. He ran in a Dodge Challenger into a group of American’s who were protesting. It was astonishing to watch as we had only ever seen anything like this in foreign terrorism. It was now present right here at home. In Trumps America.
#maga | When did this become the norm. I am actually afraid of white men, the police, being attacked...and becoming the next media story.
A post shared by Sharelle D. Lowery (@classysharelle) on Aug 13, 2017 at 11:34pm PDT
I am Angry and Afraid
I have always been about my Blackness, but I have never been anti anybody else. I possess a healthy curiosity of people of different cultures and I am always hungry to know more about the world. From religious beliefs to foods to beauty treatments, I am fascinated by how God made ALL of us. I love what is different about us and also what is the same.
In the two years between the campaign and now living in Trumps America I have become less open to getting to know different people-especially white people. In fact, with the exception of the white people that I already know am very leery of them now, much more than ever before. I am no longer trusting their assistance or friendship. I am asking myself internally, “Are they part of the silent majority? Are they protesting? Did they vote for Trump?” It has made my open heart very closed, it has made my curious spirit less interested and the most painful part is that it has made me afraid. I now feel an unnatural FEAR of white people, especially white men.
This is the ugliest time that I have ever lived in as an American. Police brutality against people of color is at an all time high, the deportation of people who have lived as good, tax-paying Americans, the rise of the KKK and Neo-Nazism. The anger that these Alt-Right angry men (and women) have taken on has transferred to me. I feel anxious when the police turn their lights on, when a large white man is walking to his car at the same time that I am or when I contemplate going to an Alt-Right protest because I know that I might get bashed with a bat-in Berkeley.

Whenever I see a white man driving a truck or wearing Southern style clothes or even those who have a mullet (I am ashamed of my new ignorance)...I think to myself, "He is trying to make America great again." I know that #MAGA means removing me and my Blackness. The sick feeling that I get when I see a home with an American flag flying out front is almost as bad as I feel when I see a confederate flag.
I desire to go back. Rewind to a time before a reality tv star became the Republican Presidential nominee and then the President. I want my happy heart to replace my stone one, I want my multi-cultural curiosity to replace my closed-minded and fearful thoughts. I want to turn on my television and not see Nazi’s from America. I desire to not be Angry and Afraid.
What will we do as a Nation to regain our innocence and happiness back? Or can we not unsee the hate that we are living inside of?

THREE - Why I Stopped Going to Church | Color, Curls, Curves & Class
Friend: What are you doing on Sunday?
Me: (pause) Brunch, Meal Prep...maybe chill.
---
I remember when there was not a moment that I contemplated what I would do on Sunday. It was always church. I had surgery on Wednesday and went to church on Sunday. I was dedicated. To God and to my church.
I have always attended church, but I was saved in 2003. It changed my life. I became more serious about serving God alongside my family and church members. I loved it. I was at church almost every day. I even had my own ministry working with young girls.

The Good Times
Our family also started to enjoy real financial success at that time. We moved to a much larger home, purchased more cars and were making much more money. It was a very good time. My sisters were getting married, their weddings were social events of the year. Everybody (in the church) wanted to be invited, and generally they were.
We also had a tight core of church friends who we would spend time with socially outside of church. Their children would come over to our home, make tea in my Mother's large pool and watch television in our theatre sized den. People always asked us for money. My Mother was loaning money out to help people with their rent and basic bills. She even bought one single mother a refrigerator. We not only spoke the Word, but we tried very hard to live it.
We lived 40 miles away from church. So people had to come far just to chill with us. But you knew that it was going to be a place of good, clean fun and we kept it real.
Then Came the Dark Days
I remember 2008-2012. It was a tough time. We were losing everything. First we had to turn in one of the BMW’s. Voluntary repossession. Both of my little sisters started to get sick. Yes, the ones who had the weddings of the year. I lost my job, we lost my childhood home in Oakland (that I was living in at the time), I ended up moving back home, the real estate market dropped (my Mother worked in loans) and we continued to have more bills than we had money. It was truly the worst of times.

You would think that our good church family, who had sipped on our good imported Tequila, had their kids swimming in our pool and constantly asked us to support whatever program that they needed help with...would have helped us. It was literally crickets. While my Pastor and a few true friends continued to check up on us...most did not. Most of our core actually started avoiding us like the plague. It was one of the most hurtful experiences of my life. Sometimes we did not even have money for gas to get to church. We slowly slipped away from worshiping with the Saints, but never from God.
My Pastor Tried
My Pastor is one of the most amazing people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Intelligent, giving, intuitive, humorous and he Loves the Lord and the Lord’s people. He Loved and Loves my family. He called and called. We were staples in the church and our family not being there was a clear gap. The people who observed what we were going through gave zero fucks. Including some people that are very close to him.
I Do Miss Church
I miss church, but I do not miss church people. I don't miss the self-righteous snickers nor do I miss the fakery of people who are good with you when you are on top of the world, but cannot be bothered when you fall off.
While my Auntie Irma, Rev. Cecil Williams and the Stroughters (Camille and Rob) were always kind and loving to us. Most other people who had permanent ass cheek molds in my Mother's couch couldn't even bother to call us.
So when I see my church “family” I smile, give them a good church hug and keep it moving as soon as possible. While they didn't want our “nouveau poor” to get on them I never want their two-faced behavior to jump into my spirit.
I will always have an amazing relationship with the LORD. I had one before I was a member of that church. But going back to that church as a member will never happen. Becoming a member of another church...I dont know.
I miss Sunday mornings. I miss the feeling that the holy spirit is filling the church house and filling my spirit too. However, scowls, mean mugging and back biting is not something that I am interested in going back to. Especially when it comes down from the spouses of the clergy.
So when people ask me, “Why don't you go to church anymore?” All of the above, and other things that I have too much respect and class to mention are why.
Until the church starts being more kind from the top down, there will always be those Christians like me and my family who will fall through the cracks. Seeing my Mother hurt because the people that she loved like real family turned their noses up at us, has been too much for me to bear.
The Pastor cannot do everything and he cannot be everywhere. However a Pastor's extensions must also make sure that loving kindness is truly running amok through the church as heavily as the church gossip.
I write this piece NOT to vilify the church, I love what the church has done for me. I write this to be a mirror to the church. To show them what is silently happening. When your church numbers are diminishing and not growing-there is a reason. This is a true story and this happened to me and my family.
TWO - The Trump Administration is Coming for Harriet! Yes, Tubman.
So Big Sista Ms. Harriet Tubman is still running or so it seems. Who represents America more than Harriet Tubman?
In 2016 we were all excited that under the Obama administration Harriet Tubman was going to replace 7th POTUS Andrew Jackson on the 20 dollar bill with Harriet Tubman. After all it would be a direct reflection of how America was taking steps to move away from our dark days of slavery. We would in turn be collectively acknowledging an American revolutionary thinker and protester, Harriet Tubman. However, it is looking like that this change to the American Currency might be taking a Black Seat.
Mnuchin on $20 bill: Any changes to currency will be focused on counterfeiting from CNBC.
Harriet Tubman, born a slave herself, was personally responsible for freeing over 300 slaves between the years of X and X on the Underground Railroad. She is as American as apple pie and slave owning former President Andrew Jackson.
45 noted that while we consider her an American Hero and the Moses of our people that, “I think that Harriet Tubman is Fantastic.” You say that a pot of decent spaghetti is “fantastic” this is not how you describe a world-renowned slavery Abolitionist.
According to NBC:
In 2016, during the presidential campaign, candidate Donald Trump Told NBC's "TODAY" show, "I think Harriet Tubman is fantastic." He added: "I would love to leave Andrew Jackson and see if we can maybe come up with another denomination. Maybe we do the $2 bill or we do another bill."
While Trump complemented Tubman, he said at the time that he didn't agree with replacing Jackson on the denomination. "I don't like seeing it. Yes, I think it's pure political correctness. Been on the bill [Jackson] for many, many years. And, you know, really represented somebody that really was very important to this country.
My Thoughts
Hold up, if the main reason for changing the currency is to stop counterfeiting cash and changing the faces is a way to do it...what is wrong with changing an American President for an American Heroine? Her Blackness and her female status is certainly the primary reason why.
While timely and important on the news today there are talks of Hurricane Harvey, the DACA dreamers being sent back to their parents countries of origin and of course the fact that American taxpayers may now be paying for the wall that 45 claimed that Mexico would be paying for...I found out about Harriet losing her spot on our currency on Lee Bailey's EurWeb. It is buried in the news cycle and only found online and not in print or on television.
This change is important because there are no women on our currency and there are no people of Color on our currency. All Americans come into contact with money every day. Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill would be a constant history lesson about the ills of enslaving human beings in America and how an abolitionist who was born a slave herself overcame all odds, freed slaves and became recognized as an American Hero. While there are many things to fight for this symbolism of our Black Freedom Fight in America is quite important. And I am not feeling seeing Big Sister Harriet on some random $2 dollar bill.
Please share this article so that we all know and are all aware of the potential silent changes that the Trump Administration is trying to make.
Please share and also let me know what you think about seeing Harriet Tubman on the $20 dollar bill and pushing Andrew Jackson off.

If I Could Talk to the 29 Year Old Me - #Dating
I have a few younger girlfriends and we always talk about menfolk and how much of a roller coaster that they are. I wish that I had been blessed with a Big Sister a few years older than me who would speak to me candidly. My Mother is awesome, but she is my Mother and wants me to save all this good-good. Now I am all about rationing the good-good….but totally putting it on the self until Jesus comes. I am not going to do that.
If I could talk to the 29 year old me I would sit myself down and say a couple things:
His d*ck isn't that good, you just don’t know any better.
Dating men your age is a waste of time. They know even less about what they want than you do. You will do better meeting a man in his late 30’s who is at the end of his hoe phase and wants to have his second set of children. Trust.
K****** is The One, like Neo. He is your Ace. <3
A man who is driven, loves his family and thinks that you are awesome is the best way to make a choice. Sex and swag might be exciting but there is nothing that feels better than being with your best friend who has your back regardless.
Steve Harvey is full of sh*t.
Hoes always end up married, but still don’t be a hoe.
Do not expect a man to be perfect, since you aren’t either. This includes a belly that is too big or a bank account that is too small. Things that are external or fixable are worth dealing with if their heart belongs to you and is genuine. This does NOT apply to dick size, if it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.
Fuck what other people think. Most of the times your friends are telling you what you should do when they have dated and married the biggest douchebags ever and their lives are WAY more messed up than yours!
Your Moms is usually right about men, even when you don't want to hear it.
Don’t waste your pretty. It might seem like it will last forever-but it won’t. Score that 38 year old man while you are 28, he will not be feeling you as much when you are 38. Trust.
There is much more, but I have already exposed a LOT of truth.
What would you tell your 29 year old self if you could whisper into your ear?
Desiree a Sweet Summertime Sparkling #RedWine
While there is nothing that I like better than a heavy, dark, full-bodied red wine. And yes, I am talking about wine *wink* I have been completely overtaken and turned on by this Rosenblum Cellars Red Blend, Desiree.
I have not traditionally been a sparkling red wine type of girl, but this summer has already been extra hot and I still want to drink my red wine. I have not yet started drinking white wine...it is not THAT hot yet!!
Solution = Desiree by Rosenblum Cellars.
It's light, sparkling, sweet and delicious. If you are a new red wine drinker try this now! Or if you are a Sangria drinker...I got you bae. You are going to love every sip!
I feel some type of way (super good) about Rosenblum Cellars because they are super local and the Pops of Shauna Rosenblum the power lady winemaker behind Rock Wall Winery, all based in Alameda, CA. So because I actually know Shauna, have hosted events at her winery and I LOVE her wine of course I love all of her families wineries and wines too!
This is a wine that you drink while you are preparing an early summer dinner for bae or kicking back with your Sorors after brunch.
So How Does This Wine Taste?
This wine is sweet, easy, sparkling and fun! I honestly picked it up because it’s moniker is my middle name, Desiree, and I DO love a red blend. It is made of a Zinfandel and Moscato. Yes girls, Moscato. You know you want this, with hints of peach and mango! Ice in wine is pretty gauche, but you are judging me while you know that you do it in private. Ice. In. My. Wine.
Good day and enjoy every bit of this wine. Also, I scored this wine at Grocery Outlet, I don't think that you can score this wine on the Rosenblum website. I could not find it! However, it was a win all the way around.
What is your favorite wine to drink in the dog days of summer?
Glasses Up!
