Bioshock infinite
An entire game about how hyper nationalist authoritarianism is bad, being decried for not being against these things ENOUGH
Is the coldest take I've ever heard
I’m gonna make a really unpopular hot take in that… Yeah, Ryan’s anarcho-capitalism lead to some really bad shit, but at the same time, Sofia Lamb’s communism is equally bad just in a different way. The only thing that’s just as bad as letting everyone do whatever they want with no regulation, is group-think and eradicating anyone that doesn’t agree with you.
Yeah, basically the point of the games, going to either extreme ends horribly
“ADAM improved every aspect of man… except its character.”
I chose… Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor. Where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality. Where the great would not be constrained by the small. And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well.
Bioshock Little Sisters are at least aware of what’s going on and actually help you by traveling all over the city to get your ass out of messes. They will kill a bitch and dance on their corpse with no hesitation. Literally ride or die with Jack.
Bioshock 2 Little Sisters just do not give a fuck, they drop those gifts off because they have to and Eleanor literally has to mind control them to get them to help out. They act sweet but will actually let you perish.
I think it's partially because they view big daddies with absolute adoration. They idolize them. They see their big daddy as the strongest guy ever who can protect them from any harm, the idea Delta or Sigma even could need help/be in danger might not cross their minds.
End of Game: Minerva’s Den
Poster Series, Part 1: Bioshock (2007)
We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us.
Poster Series, Part 2.5: Bioshock 2 - Minerva’s Den (2010)
I wanted to save you. I couldn’t resist trying to bring you back the only way I knew how. But… You didn’t want that — I know it now. And I think I’m finally ready… To let you go your way. I stand here with sun on my face… And it’s almost like I can feel you smiling. Goodbye, Pearl. I love you more than I’ve got words for. —Milton
Even with those things implanted in their bellies, they are still children.
“…he, a lumbering palooka in a foul-smelling diving suit…”
Big Daddies: Aside from the Alpha Series, Big Daddies communicate by uttering haunting sounds similar to that of whale calls. Alpha Series communicate with low, inhuman grunts and roars.
Experiments were conducted by Dr. Gilbert Alexander in the research laboratories of Fontaine Futuristics. The first protector prototypes bonded to Little Sisters were called the Alpha Series, previous Plasmid test subject from Sinclair Solutions. Alexander took inspiration from a common nickname for the Protector Program candidates, “Big Daddies”, and engineered a conditioned bond between the Protectors and their charges which would mimic, through mental and physical restraints, the emotional bond between a father and his daughter, the “Pair Bond.”
