when: may 28th, 3rd day of the lantern festivalย
who: sabine facillier && marcelo clayton @thecolorofsinsโ
most days, people kept to themselves. their excitement and their souls all left for themselves. their auras, as her sister had told her once, didnโt bleed into the air around them. but, as of late the youngest facilier had begun to notice that there were more things she could notice when just being near a person. no, not near, general vicinity seemed to trigger something in their mind. at first it was curiosity. sabine had never really had such a feeling. in the shadow realm, there was a murkiness where she could not see through but on the other side of the looking glass. she could see, taste and nearly feel.
in the beginning of her stay, she would have sought too immersive herself in it. allow all of it to wash over her so she could live through it. but when it came to crowds like the one in corona, she wasnโt sure that was exactly the best idea. her head seemed to ache the first night. sleep barely coming if it werenโt for how the moon had shown through the window of the room she shared with her sister. sabine had yet to bring up her concerns of what she was noticing, didnโt want to ruin anything her sister would actually enjoy. which would be a rare thing, but there were new things to be seen in corona compared to what was in auradon city. there was a chance
so, it wasnโt her sister she was looking for. instead, she was searching for one of her more, quiet companions. someone that always had this sort of air about him that eased something when she ached. of course, it hadnโt been common before but as of late, it was like a balm. she hadnโt told mars the sort of impact he had on her, but he had been acting odd since the night of the faerie party. so much so that it almost frustrated sabine. he had kissed her, so what? she had kissed back after all. silly boy.
even with things so, nearly overwhelming, she could track down her friend. something unique about him that she could probably find him in the dark. โmarcelo clayton,โ she said strongly, her hand on her hip as she looked at the dark haired man that she was focused on. โyou, are going to sit right there and not try to hide,โ she continued while walking closer to him, ignoring the decorum she was taught about when coming to the other side of the looking glass. โwe donโt have to talk about anything you donโt wish to but i miss your company and i am tired of you hiding from me.โ she wanted to sit next to him and let the world fade away for a few moments.
Marcelo did what he did best, kept to himself for most of the day. Quietly taking the sights, the people and the atmosphere. Heโd decided that he quite like Corona. It was a beautiful city, near the sea. He could see himself enjoying a life near the sea. There was something refreshing about the salty air and warmth the sun offered. As he moved through the imaginary future in his head. He randomly wondered if Sabine would enjoy the city the same way he did. There was a natural brightness to the women, she could fit in nicely with the warmth of the city.ย
It wasnโt unusual that most of his thoughts of the future involved Sabine. Sheโd been the only constant in his life for years. Always there when he needed someone one, be it to patch him up or just hold his hand. Sheโs turn up, as if heโs summoned her out of thin air. The thought brought a small smile to his lips as he settled on a bench. Eyes following the flow of traffic but not really seeing. His smile faltered just a bit when he thought about their relationship recently. He wasnโt proud of it, but heโd been avoiding her. Ever since they kissed, and then the whole moment ending up in some gossip pamphlet. He wasnโt sure how to proceed.ย
Things were done so much differently in Auradon. Back home, if you felt for someone you just did as you pleased. There wasnโt a societal expectation. No one really gave a shit about who was with who. Here its seemed to be the thing people practically lived for. It was easier to focus on how heโd been inappropriate in his actions, according to the rules of their newย โhomeโ, then to really look at why he was so afraid of what would happen next.ย
Just as he started to tumble down a self deprecating spiral, he heard his name. His head popped up, and as if heโd summoned her with his thoughts Sabine stood in front of him. There was a firmness in her voice that made him do exactly as she said. Sitting still as she advanced on him. Her words filtering in and out.ย
โIโm sorry,โ was out of his mouth before his brain really processed everything she said reaching out. His fingers gently circled her wrist. Tugging lightly to urge her to sit next to him.ย โI missed you as well, I shouldnโt have avoided you, Iโm sorry,โ his words were more confident this time around.ย
