The Rave'N Part 1 . . .
Evangeline grasped at the necklace in her hand as she made he way to Francoise in the courtyard. "My little friend, how do you fare?"
"I have been better, I am thinking of asking this boy I met last weekend to the Rave'N."
"The Rave'N?"
"Eva no way you haven't heard about it! It's all anyone is talking about. It's the annual dance that's held here at Nevermore. You must be daydreaming a lot to not hear about it." She paused.
"I distinctly remember Elijah asking to be your date last week..." Eva's eyes widened.
"That's what he was asking about !? I wasn't paying attention. I thought he asked if I did the homework, so I just said no."
Francoise giggled, "My Greek friend, what consumes your thoughts so much to make you distracted from something like that?" Just past Francious was Isaac, who was rolling his eyes at whatever Gomez was chattering about. She thought back to the fantasies that crossed her mind when she held her necklace in the middle of the night. While her hand drifted in places below what a good girl would do. She recalled writhing in bed with pleasure at the image of his hands carefully tinkering away at whatever invention he was working on.
Francoise turned her head to see her brother. She looked back at Eva. Then she looked back at her brother, and then to the charm currently clutched in her hand. Her best friend and brother stared at each other like there was no one else in the room, and somehow no one saw it by her. She smiled to herself. When they were ready, they would tell her.
"So Eva, who will you ask to be your date?"
Eva blinked, "What?"
" I said, who will you ask to be your date?"
"I don't know."
Morticia joined the duo at their table.
"Morticia, Eva says she doesn't know who she wants to go to the dance with. She also turned down Elijah yesterday!"
Morticia looked at Franciose with a knowing look, and she knew that the girl had figured it out.
"Eva darling, what about Isaac?" Francoise's eyes bulged at Morticia. She gave her a look as if to say, "Way to be obvious."
"Isaac? I don't know if he would even want to go. He probably thinks it's trivial."
"You don't know that for sure, Eva, he might. He might do it anyway for you."
Eva whipped her head around, "What do you mean by that?"
"For someone who can see souls, you often miss what is right in front of you. Come Francoise, we don't want to be like to 1800s Literature." And with that, she dragged Franciose away, leaving Evangeline alone with her thoughts.
"Evie, Evie wake up." Evelyn jolted straight, her face coming inches from Xavier's.
"Oh my gods, what are you doing?" she took in her surroundings.
"You fell asleep. Are you okay? You don't look too good." She felt sick. All she could think about was the Rave'N and her dream. She dreamt of a girl who looked exactly like her, wrapped in the arms of a masked man. Both were dressed in a deep, blood-red. On the dance floor, they moved as if made for each other, fitting just like perfect puzzle pieces. Even if she didn't believe in soulmates, those two could've convinced her otherwise.
"I'm just going to go to my room and lie down for a bit. Can you tell Professor Orloff I won't be attending?"
"Of course, I'll send some soup to your room later." But Evie had already dashed away.
Her stomach was queasy, and her forehead was coated in sweat. She called the one person who could make it all better.
"Mom?"
"My love, what is wrong?"
"How did you know something was wrong?"
"I always know Evelyn."
"Do you want to tell me what's wrong, or do you just want to talk."
"Can we just talk? If that's okay with you."
"That's perfectly fine. How are you? How is school?"
"School has been good. Everyone is really nice and sweet. I really like it here."
"But...?"
"But something is wrong. I'm not sure, but I feel...like I've been here before. Everything seems familiar, but the memory is just out of my reach." She paused. "And I keep seeing this boy. He haunts my dreams. What is wrong with me?"
"My love, there is nothing wrong with you. It is the pressure from school and a new environment. Everything will be okay in the end. I have to go now. I love you." The buzzing end call sound rang on the phone. Calliope had just hung up on her daughter.
Evie blinked in disbelief; her mother had never ever cut their conversation short like that. Everything will be okay? What did that even mean? Evelyn was tired of chasing ghosts and clues, she just wanted to feel normal. She picked up her phone again and made another call.
Evelyn is calling . . .
Tyler dropped the cup he was washing and wiped his hands on his apron. "Hey Evie, what's up?" She sniffled. "Nothing, I just needed to hear your voice." The smile on Tyler's face fell.
"Glad to hear you missed me. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just dealing with some things. My mothers sending me cryptic messages, I'm seeing things, I can't sleep, and am just so...so tired." Tyler could relate. Before Evie, he was going through those same things alone. "Well Evie, I'm here now, I'll stay on call with you till you sleep. We can talk till you're tired alright?"
"Okay."
They talked for the next 30 minutes before all he heard on the line was the soft breaths of her sleeping.
The next morning, Evelyn woke up refreshed. She checked her phone
Tyler Galpin 8hours and 22minutes call . . .
She dropped the phone.
"Hello?"
His deep voice rang out, "Good morning sleepyhead."
"Oh my god, I am so sorry Tyler, you didn't have to stay with me all night."
"No, I wanted to. If I didn't, I could've hung up. I stayed because I wanted to."
"You're too sweet you know that?"
"So I've been told."
She chuckled. "Tyler?"
"Yes Evie?"
"Will you go to the Rave'N with me?"
"I thought you'd never ask."
Isaac had made the mistake of asking Gomez how he should ask Evangeline to be his date. "Go all out. No price is too expensive for love. Shower her in chocolates and flowers."
Isaac cringed at the thought. Eva wouldn't like any of that. She liked Lily of the valley's, she hated chocolate, and soft caramel fudge was her favorite. A week passed and it tormented Isaac to think about how much time he'd let slip away without asking. He had the perfect moment multiple times. After class, he and Eva religiously locked themselves up in the tower doing their own work, soaking in the company of one another.
Eva had grown frustrated. Isaac seemed to have no interest in the dance. Anytime she brought it up, he would change the subject to tell her he was busy. She looked down at the dress and circlet that lay on her bed. "I hope it doesn't go to waste."
Morticia stood up behind her, "That's a lovely piece Evangeline. Is that from your mother?"
"Yes. It was hers before me. My father made this for her while they were still courting. She found it outrageous that he gifted her with such a beautiful crown before they were to be married." Evie pulled out a picture of her parents together. "After he died, she gave it to me, said that she hoped one day I could have a love like the once they had."
Morticia held her hand out, "May it?" Eva nodded as Morticia took the circlet and placed it on Eva's head. "It's gorgeous, just like you. I think Isaac would be a lucky man to have you." Eva stuttered. "Wait Isaac, no... I don't even." Morticia laughed.
"I can't hear souls, but I can read your emotions so clearly. Don't be afraid. Your secret is safe with me." Eva turned back to the mirror again, this time holding up her dress. "I hope he asks me."
Evelyn got ready for the dance with Enid doing her makeup. "Pucker your lips please." Enid held up a dark plum lipstick. "If you wanted to kiss me Sinclair, you could've just asked." Evie winked. Enid blushed a heavy red, "Sorry, I'm saving that for someone else. Anyways, I'm pretty sure there's a normie who you would much rather kiss." She smirked.
Evelyn straightened out the white dress she had bought. The corset clung to her waist and pushed her chest forward. The heart locket she wore sat neatly between the valley of her breasts. Taking hold of the locket, she breathed in and out. In and out. It brought her comfort; she had had the necklace since she could remember. It became her anchor to the world.
"Evelyn, you look like a new spring bride, you're absolutely glowing."
"Thank you Enid, I can just hope Tyler also thinks so."
Evangeline had already turned down half the boys at Nevermore. She glanced at Isaac while his back was towards her and began to sing. Isaacs' concentration was broken at her words as he fell into a trance of her song. He stood up and approached her sitting by the window, "Muse, may I have this dance?" She stood up and placed her hand in his. They swayed back and forth to her humming. She laid her head on his chest, where she could hear faint ticks.

"Isaac, do you carry a pocketwatch in your coat?"
He froze. Her ear was right on his mechanical heart. "I..no." She glanced up at him in confusion. He turned away harshly, ripping his hands out of hers, and violently coughed. Eva placed her hand on his back. "Isaac, tell me. I won't judge you. You're keeping something from me. You know, I think the world of you. Now tell me what is wrong?"
Isaac turned to her, his face pale as a ghost, and began unbuttoning his shirt one by one. Eva's cheeks flamed a crimson red as she trailed his sturdy chest with her eyes. She approached him cautiously, placing a hand on his bare skin. He slowly took her hand and pushed the rest of his shirt off, guiding her towards the sound. She gasped. A metal clockwork heart. "Oh, Isaac..."
"I was born with a weak heart. The doctors predicted I wouldn't make it past the age of 12. I wouldn't see my sister grow up, I wouldn't see her first dance, walk her down the aisle, I wouldn't be able to cure her. And I couldn't let that happen. So I made myself this metal heart. IIf I couldn't stop time, I would try my hardest to cheat death."
Eva's finger ghosted over the metal, her eyes soaking in every careful design decision he made. "Isaac, it's beautiful. You're beautiful." She met his gaze. "You're brilliant." He held her in his arms, savoring the feeling of her body against his. "I mean it, Isaac," Her hand dragged down his body, stopping right below his stomach. He felt his core light on fire as her face glistened in the moonlight.
"Go to the Rave'N with me."
"What?" She laughed.
"I want you, Evangeline, my Angel, my starlight, to be my date to the dance. No one else's."

A Beast and his Beauty . . .
It had been ages since Tyler last saw Evelyn. And the last time he had felt normal. She didn't treat him like a normie or an outcast. She treated him like a human being, someone who was capable of love.
He stared at his phone in his hand. Evelyn's name stayed on the screen. Tyler mulled over it many times before pressing call. The phone rang twice before he heard the sweet sound of the demigod he had grown so fond of.
"Hello Tyler,"
"Evie. Hi, we haven't spoken in a while. I thought I'd give you a call."
"Well, I'm here now. What's up? Do you need anything, or did you just miss me too much?"
"You flatter yourself Evie, even if it's true."
"So what can I do for you Ty?"
"I want to see you again." More like he needed to see her again.
"Is that so loverboy? The feeling is mutual. Are you working tonight?" He could practically feel his heart speeding up.
"Yes, but if you come at four we can go out after, maybe get dinner?"
"It's a date. Our second date. Can't wait Tyler, I shall see you later."
Tyler let out a breath of air he didn't know he was holding. Just eight more hours. He could hold out for that long.
You arrived at Weathervane around four thirty waiting for Tyler's shift to finish. "Fancy seeing you here loverboy."
"As always, thank you Evelyn, for gracing us peasants with your presence."
"The pleasure is all mine. I'll sit over there and wait for you alright?" Evelyn grazed the top of his hand and blinked up through her eyelashes.
"Y-Yeah. I'll bring you your usual." He felt entranced by her gaze. Her hazy pools felt like vines rooting him to the spot, but he didn't break contact. He would let her drag him to Hades if it meant being with her.
Evelyn sat at the coffee table with her eyes following Tyler's every movement. He seemed too familiar to her that his presence brought comfort.
Evie watched his arms flex while holding kettles and coffee cups. Her eyes were drawn to the hollow of his cheeks, then followed to the sharpness of his jaw. Oh how she would love to run her lips on his skin, his neck, all of him.
Evelyn blinked those thoughts away. It was shameful of her, but when she loved, she loved fiercely. Maybe it was one of her flaws, but she couldn't help herself.
She pulled out a small book from her pocket, Pride and Prejudice, and let her thoughts be whisked away by the words.
Time must have passed quicker than she thought as Tyler placed a hand on her arm, "Hey Eve, let's go."
The two walked close to each other, glancing out of the corner of their eyes only when they believed the other wasn't looking. Evelyn laughed before grasping Tyler's hand in hers. He gripped her soft hand firmly, relishing in the warm feeling.
They arrived at a nearby restaurant, Bella Italia.
The candelabra surrounded them, and the multitude of flames lit up the dark restaurant. Evie and Tyler sat in the corner of the restaurant with their nerves unsettled but excitement high.
"So Evie, what's your thing?"
"My thing?" She chuckled.
"Yeah, what's your thing. You go to Nevermore. Everyone has their thing. Xavier paints, Enid is a werewolf, and Wednesday... well, she's Wednesday." That earned a laugh from both of them, the image of Wednesday's scowling face popping up in their minds.
"Well, I can hear a person's inner melody and have a knack for poetry and song."
"What's a person's inner melody?"
"Mediums would call it like uh, and aura. But instead of seeing it I can hear it." Tyler leaned closer, interested in hearing more.
"For example, yours, your melody is very indie, I hear soft strumming of guitars and the occasional piano chords." She glanced to the side, thinking about the second melody within him. "Also, when someone lies, I can tell. Their harmony messes up, and the tempo is off balance. So don't get any funny ideas."
Tyler put his hands up in surrender, "No ideas here Evie," he tapped his head as proof.
"So... what does your song sound like?"
"I've never heard my song, it's said that only a muse's soul mate can hear it. But I'm not sure I believe in those. I like to think of my song as the pieces I create."
"You don't believe in soulmates?"
"You do?" She questioned back.
"I'm not sure. I'd like to think there was someone out there for everyone. It's comforting to know that there is a person who would love you for who you are, maybe forever."
He thought about his condition and the lack of normalcy in his life as of late. But here he was, sitting with a beautiful, smart girl who had looked at him and decided out of everyone in Jericho that he deserved a chance.
"That's a beautiful thought Tyler, but I'm not convinced. I believe that love is infinite. You can love so many different people across time...
You can lose so many people across time." Her eyes shifted to the window as if looking at a past memory.
His hand reached for hers, breaking her out of her reverie, "You know that feeling?"
"Yes. I lost my father not too long ago."
"I'm sorry about that, truly. I lost my mother when I was young. I barely even remember her now. It's just me and my dad."
"Well aren't we just a couple of tortured souls huh Galpin?"
Their food, which had arrived moments ago, had gone cold, as they continued talking animatedly about anything and everything.
The pair walked out of the restaurant, bellies and hearts full. "Come on Angel, I'll drive you home."
Instantly, Evelyn was taken aback. A voice whispered in her mind,
"My starlight, my Angel, my Evangeline."
"Sorry what did you say?"
"I'll drive you home." She smiled at him. He was so sweet. She hadn't felt this way in so long. Maybe just maybe, this could be right.
"Thank you Tyler. I'd like that."
The drive home was a comfortable silence. His hand rested on her lap, hers over his as they drove back to Nevermore.
But Evelyn was distracted. She looked at the window, glancing at Tyler's reflection in it. His nose, his lips, his curls, she felt a wave of nostalgia pass. Maybe it was because he made her feel heard, and being heard made her feel good.
His car came to a stop as he walked over to open her door. "A barista and a gentleman, a girl could get used to this." Evie closed the gap between them and pressed a small kiss to his lips. Tyler pushed towards her, deepening it, bringing one hand to lean past her head and the other around her hips.
Evie broke the kiss, leaving light breathes between them. "Call me." And with that, she dashed past the fence, only looking back to blow him a kiss.

In The Words of a Crescendo . . .
"Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly"
Isaac hadn't spoken to Evangeline in days. Assuming he was busy, days turned into weeks with not a sound from the Night boy. She approached Francoise first, "Frannie, did... did I do something wrong? Isaac hasn't talked to me in weeks. I fear I must have offended him. Maybe I critiqued his work too harshly or played a melody he did not enjoy. Or.." she paused. "Perhaps he does not even enjoy my company?"
Her brother's new attitude did not go unnoticed. He was snappier to others; he no longer took time to relax, and every time Francoise had asked what was the matter, he would reply, "Dear sister, it is nothing for you to worry about. I'm just getting closer to a breakthrough."
But seeing Eva here now, she wasn't sure that was the reason anymore. "I will speak to him."
Eva waved her hands, "No, if he had a problem with me. I will talk to him myself. I would like to know what I have done to receive such treatment." And with that, she turned back to the hallway to the next class.
Francoise bit her lip, worried about how her brothers would react. Eva was not just her new friend but his as well. She wished they could just get along like they did under the skull tree. Her brother was just difficult at times.
A chill filled the air as Isaac pulled his lab coat closer to his frame. He shivered while his hand shook writing new ideas.
Small footsteps came up the stairs. Isaac's eyes widened. Why was Evangeline here? He had been purposely ignoring her. He was sure after the second week she would've gotten the message by now.
"Isaac," Eva spoke gently.
"Leave. I do not wish to see you."
"No, not unless you tell me why. Have I done something to offend you?"
"You must leave."
Eva's eyes brimmed with tears, the frustration making its way up her chest, "Tell me Isaac! What have I done to deserve this? I thought we were getting along...I thought you were my friend."
"You're wrong Evangeline. We are not friends. You're irritating, you believe the whole world must bend to your will, why? Because you sing trivial songs and smile at every lowlife who glances in your direction." Isaac refused to face her. If he did, he wasn't sure he would survive.
"And you know why? Because you're desperate. Even now, here you stand begging for my attention. It's pathetic." Seconds passed by between the two. No one dared move, letting those sharp words hang in the air.
"Don't pretend you mean that. Because if you did, you'd be the pathetic one here. You're pushing me away, and that's not strength. It's fear."
Isaac turned to speak, but Eva cut him off, "No, you don't get to speak, not after those words. I know emotions are complicated, but trust me. I've heard the truth buried in your song, you're torn, but that doesn't excuse the way you treated me." He stood frozen. He had never seen the bright and happy Evangeline look so crushed. Her eyes were red with tears, and her shoulders shook with each breath. Isaac took a step forward with his arms out, "Eva, I didnt..."
"No, you don't get to call me that. It's Evangeline." She pulled a basket from the side and tossed it at his feet. "Here is a blanket and some food so you don't starve or freeze to death. When you're ready to talk to me like a man, I'll be waiting." He woefully watched her leave, taking all the warmth of his dark lab with her.
"It hurts to be something. It's worse to be nothing with you."
Eva put down her pencil. It helped to write poems about her feelings. Isaac made her feel conflicted. How could he say those things? She remembered the days when he brought her tea in the morning because she hated coffee, when he bought her a book, "The Iliad" at the store because it reminded him of her, and when he came to her room to kill a spider that had infiltrated her space.
Her hand clutched against her chest, feeling the heaviness take hold on her heart. She dragged her body to her bed and pulled the covers tight, leaving salty streaks on her pillow.
At the same time, Isaac sat in his shared dorm with Gomez. "You really messed up Isaac. How could you say those things to her?"
"I know. You should've seen the look on her face. I did that." He tinkered with the metal pieces on his desk.
"How are you going to make it up to her? You are going to make it up to her right, or else Morticia might have you head, and you know me, I cannot stop my love."
"I'm working on it."
Isaac sighed. First Franciouse and now Gomez. He pulled the little dark-stained wood box to his chest and picked up the necklace that lay next to it. He opened the locket to reveal a key and placed it inside the front hole of the box. A music box. The perfect gift for his muse. It played an old Greek lullaby, a song from Eva's childhood.
Her hurt face flashed in his memory once more. Isaac jolted away from his desk. He threw his screwdriver across the room before burying his face in his hands. It was haunting him. The vision of her heartbreak. He had done that.
Isaac glanced at the unopened basket Eva brought him. He lifted the cover to reveal a quilt and a packed meal. Even after ignoring her, she still thought of his health. He lifted the blanket to his nose, breathing in its fibers. Sweet nectar. He inhaled deeply once more, almost moaning at the scent. It drove him crazy; she drove him crazy. Quickly, he gathered his things, not bothering to clean up, and rushed to the courtyard.
There you were laughing with another student and strumming your lute while humming the song of another man. Isaac fumed at the sight.
"Evangeline. I need to speak to you."
Her cheerful expression disappeared. "Alright, Isaac." A hand shot out to grab hers.
"Hey . Eva you don't have to go with this asshole. He will only hurt you in the end."
She turned to her fellow classmate with solemn eyes. "It is my judgment to make. And I believe in second chances... for everyone." Eva gestured for Isaac to lead the way. He nodded and guided her to the gardens.
"Eva. I am sorry for how I treated you. You are a gift to Nevermore, and a gift to Francoise, and I overstepped. I misplaced my frustrations on a friend who only wanted to help."
Eva looked at Isaac. He had dark circles under his eyes. His lips were dry and cracked. His natural curls had lost their shine and bounce. "Oh, Isaac. Why do you choose not to let me in? Your problems were never meant to be held alone. Share your burdens with me, do not suffer in silence." Eva closed the distance and brushed his bangs away from his face.
"I made this for you. Can you turn around?" She nodded.
Isaac's trembling fingers tied the ribbon around her neck. "Here, it's a locket. Inside is the key to this."
"You ... you made me a music box?" He nodded bashfully.
Eva turned the key, and out popped a mini Cupid singing her song. She wasted no time throwing her arms around Isaac. "Thank you. This is the kindest gift anyone has ever given me. All is forgiven." His arms encircled her waist, their hearts pressed together.

And So The Sands Reset . . .
Evelyn couldn't contain her excitement once her mother revealed she would be attending Nevemore. She couldn't explain it but she felt some sort of familiarity with the school. She observed the purple and black banners around her and instantly felt at home. Upon her arrival, a big blur of pink and blonde crossed her path. "Im Enid! You're the new girl aren't you?" Evelyn nodded shyly. She hadn't expected her first encounter to be so...enthusiastic.
"Yes, my name is Evelyn. You may call me Evie if you wish."
Enid's eyes lit up at the nickname. She looped her arm through Evie's and dragged her towards the courtyard. "Well, Evie welcome to Nevermore. You're just in time for outreach day. Come on we don't want to be left behind"
Evie smiled at Enid's kindness, "Well, we shan't be late then?" The two girls giggled together before embarking on the bus that would take them to the local normie town, Jericho.
Professor Weems began announcing who would be attending where when her gaze landed on the last two students, Xavier and Evie. "And you two will be volunteering at Weathervane." Xavier rolled his eyes, begging to be anywhere else but in Jericho. He signed before turning to Evie, "Well newbie, guess it's me and you."
She smiled softly, "Don't worry, Xavier, embrace the fear of change." He looked at her puzzled by her odd poeticness. Before he could respond, she was already making her way to the bakery.
"Welcome to Wea..." Tyler stopped midsentence when he blinked at the figure in the door. As if god bent the light to follow Evie, she stood in the doorway with a halo surrounding her. Her bright eyes scanned the surroundings of the cafe before looking at Tyler. She walked up to the counter and introduced herself. "I'm Evelyn, my friends call me Evie. I'm here for the outreach program." Tyler grasped her small hand in his and swore he felt a static shock. Maybe it was just the nerves about meeting a pretty girl for the first time. Xavior trudged in behind, grumbling as usual. Realizing he was still holding her hand, he pulled away and began pulling out aprons for them to wear.
Evie had pulled the apron over her head, letting it fall over her body. She tied the strings across the front and tightened them before she felt a hand sweep across her neck, freeing her hair from its confines. She gasped at the sensation and turned to see Tyler behind her. The bell rang, alerting them of customers. The two teens blushed before turning to their duties for the day.
Evie couldn't help but feel comfortable around Tyler. He was naturally charming and sweet. But something was off about him. Usually, a person had one melody that would only change in tempo or octave, but Tyler's melody was so fragmented. It would shift from light guitar strumming to a collision of symbols and cellos. It was something she had never heard before.
Tyler moved past her to grab more cups for their orders. In doing so, he placed his hand ever so slightly across the low of her back, fingers just brushing her hip. Evie shifted uncomfortably, but said nothing.
Wednesday had entered the cafe, requiring Tyler's presence. Evie took it as an opportunity to step into the back. She shuddered at the feeling, remembering a familiar hand doing the exact same motion to her.
Evie had vivid dreams and sometimes nightmares. They filled her sleep with images of an angular face with porcelain white skin and brown curls that she would run her fingers through. But every time she reached out the dream would end leaving her confused. Confused to why she felt so drawn to this mystery man.
She pushed the thought away as she re-entered the cafe. The soft strums of a guitar filled her ears when Tyler approached her.
"Are you alright Evie?"
The music soothed her anxieties.
"Yes sorry, I just had to step back for a minute."
"That's alright Evie," his eyes wandered everywhere but her. His fingers in his apron twitched with anticipation.
Evie could tell there was something on his mind when she suddenly knocked over a bag of coffee beans. "I'm so sorry, I was distracted." She bent down to scoop the beans into a trash bag. Tyler bent to her level, "Don't worry about it Evie, mistakes happen." And there it was again, the strumming, but it seemed to be right in her ear, just about covering the heavy drums. Evie blushed as her hand made contact with his, pulling away slightly.
Tyler coughed, "So have you been to Pilgrim World?" Evie tilted her head, "No, I haven't I just moved here recently." He chuckled at her curious expression.
"Meet me here at 6pm, I'd like to show you if that's alright, it'll be fun."
"Like a date?"
"If that's what you would like, then yes." He looked away, bashfully rubbing the back of his neck.
Evie giggled at his shyness and curtsied, "Then yes, it's a date. I shall see you tonight Tyler of Weathervane Cafe." He rolled his eyes playfully before bowing, "The pleasure shall be all mine Evelyn of Nevermore."
As Evie exited the cafe a rough hand grasped her elbow. "Ouch, what are you doing?" Her eyes met Xavier's blazing ones. "Don't go with him, he's not who you think he is." Gently, she removed his hand from her arm, "And that's why I would like to get to know him better."
"He's done bad things Evie, bad things to outcasts."
She held Xavier's calloused hands in hers, "We're all shaped and reshaped over time. Haven't we all made mistakes and unintentionally hurt others? He seems changed now. While I value your care, it's not needed in this case. I've made my choice, and I intend to face whatever follows. I will keep your warning in mind. Thank you, Xav, for watching out for me." She gently let go before returning to the bus. Xavier's heart throbbed in his chest when Wednesday crossed his vision. Wednesday. How had he forgotten her in that short moment? He watched the new girl exit the cafe, eagerly waving to her new friend Enid. The way Evie spoke was like poetry out loud. She seemed so mature, like she had lived a thousand lifetimes before.
Tyler was one of many boys who had taken an interest in Evie. Despite this date being one of many, it felt nerve-racking. Evie took about two hours getting ready for the night. She worried over what eyeshadow she would wear, if he preferred black or pink lipstick, and whether pants or a skirt looked better. She shook her head at all her insecure thoughts. If Tyler truly liked her, he would like her no matter what she wore or looked like. She recalled her after her first date her mother reciting Shakespeare.
"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind."
Evie pulled up her black mini skirt over her stockings. The oversized dark blue cardigan fell right below her waist. Using a ribbon, she fastened the back of the sweater to cinch the sides in, hugging the soft fabric right to her frame. She slipped on her black knee-high boots and twirled in the mirror, satisfied with her efforts. As she arrived at Piglim World looking for her date, she spotted another girl talking to him. This girl was small, shorter than average, with raven black hair tied in two neat braids. Evie approached Tyler and touched his arm gently, "Hey you." She smiled.
Tyler took in her appearance. Evie was radiant. He felt a swell of pride in his chest for having the courage to ask someone like her out. "Hey Evie, wow you look amazing." She blushed at his compliment before turning to the other girl. "Im Evie and you are?"
"Wednesday Addams." The girl replied in a stoic voice. Evie heard the melancholy of strings in her ears. The music sounded too similar to something she had heard before. In a distant memory just out of her reach was a similar song. "Have we met before?" Evie asked.
"I doubt that. I have impeccable memory unless you are of no interest toward my pursuits."
Tyler glanced at Evie, who was still smiling despite Wednesday's coldness. "Well Wednesday, it was nice to meet you, hopefully I will see you around. Come on Tyler I'd like to get in at least a few rides before curfew." She teased while pulling his arm.
Wednesday watched the spark in Tyler's eyes light at your playfulness. In her mind, Evie was just like her new roommate, annoyingly happy. She huffed before continuing her search.
"Okay, Evie slow down. Which ride do you want to go on?" With a mischievous look, she nodded her head to the spinning saucer ride. "Come on, I think this will be fun."
The two teens laughed as they climbed into the small teacup. Tyler tried to ignore the heat that surged through him when his leg brushed against Evie's. The ride began as they spun the center wheel, trying to go as fast as they could. Gravity played Cupid as Evie was pushed almost entirely Tyler's lap. He maneuvered one hand behind her to hold her steady as they kept spinning. Evie's laughter rang through his ear, her heart thrumming with joy. Tyler's laughter died down. He looked at her. Really looked at her, wishing he could have this moment forever. This felt normal. No. This felt right, being here with her.
The ride slowed down as Evie shook her hair back and forth, trying to tame the mess. Tyler's pulled back a few wild strands behind her ear. "You look beautiful." And he meant it.
The two played games, ate an unhealthy amount of fair snacks, and watched the fireworks to end the night. The pair looked at each other, not wanting to speak, fearing it would disturb the moment. The electricity buzzed in the air as their faces flushed. "I had a good time. Thank you Tyler."
"It's no-" a phone buzzing interrupted.
"That's my dad, I need to get back. Goodbye Evie." He kissed her lightly on the cheek before taking off into the woods. Evie gently lifted a finger to where his lips previously graced her skin. Unbeknownst to her, another figure was watching them take off into the darkness as Tyler left.
They say some bonds are so powerful, they transcend lifetimes.

Symphony of the Soul . . .
This is where our story starts . . .
The smell of a crisp autumn breeze filled Evangeline's senses as the fallen leaves crunched beneath her pristine Mary Janes. Despite the challenge of transferring to a new school two months in, Evangeline embraced it with open arms. Her mother had said she would fit in better here. Surrounded by people like here, maybe she could find a sense of community, make friends, perhaps even fall in love.
The gates of Nevermore greeted her sight. The hinges creaked open as if they had been waiting for her arrival. Hushed whispers fell amongst the students in the courtyard. At this school, people wielded gossip like an iron blade. This time, it was simply out of curiosity about who the newcomer was. Alas, Evangeline held her head high, her midnight parasole raised slightly above her head, creating a shadow around her that demanded the attention of the sun. She walked swiftly with grace, the small heels of her shoes clicking amongst the uneven pavement toward the principal.
"Ah Miss Evangeline, Welcome to Nevermore. We will be assigning you to Ophelia Hall where you will be sharing a room with Morticia Frump," He gestured to a girl with hair as black as night.
Eva glanced in her direction, a faint song coming from her. Its melody was quiet but fierce. Only she could hear the melody that laid within one's soul. Unlike the other outcasts who fell into categories such as werewolf, vampire, or psychic, Eva had inherited her gift from her mother, Calliope. She was the muse of poetry and song thought to be a myth. But here she was standing as living proof of love between a muse and a human.
Morticia straightened her dress and held a hand out to Eva, "It's a pleasure to meet you Evangeline. Let me show you to our room." Eva shook her hand and gathered her small suitcase, following her into the building.
Nevermore was a stark contrast to Eva's homeland in Greece. Sunny skies and warm sea breezes were replaced with clouds and winds. She felt her heart lurch at the unfamiliar sights. Closing her eyes briefly, she imagined home and what her mother and aunts were doing. Perhaps they were writing new sonnets without her or basking in the sun's golden hue. Quietly, she put her suitcase on the bed and began unpacking her belongings. She had brought a modest amount of clothes with her, and her mother's precious circlet that was given to her before her departure. In her memory, her mother's words "For a special event or when the time is right." Her fingers brushed the delicate gold vines that weaved together into a crown. Oh, how she missed her family. Morticia watched the girl with careful eyes before speaking.
"So Eva, what is your gift?"
Evangeline paused, Eva, was what her mother called her. The tension in her shoulders relaxed as she turned to her new roommate. The melody flowed through the room, not in an overbearing way or in a way that would annoy its audience. It danced in a way that calmed uncomfortable silences and engraved its beat into hearts.
"I'm probably closer to what you would classify as a Davinci or Siren, but instead of telekenesis, I possess the ability to hear the soul."
Morticia furrowed her brow, not in a judgmental way but because she hadn't heard of anything like that before. Sensing her confusion, Eva continued,
"It's a way of reading people," she closed her eyes again, "like your melody is somber, but strong. You have a determination within you that shines through its elegance." Evangeline began to hum Morticias melody while letting her body sway to the beat.
Her toes pointed and she glided back and forth, her hands laid out swaying up above her shoulders with the gentleness of a flower in bloom.
"Everyone's melody is different, unique to one person."
Morticia's eyes widened in admiration. It was beautiful. Eva had a gift that was something so intimate it made her emotional. Eva opened her eyes to see Morticia's tear-filled ones. Her heart dropped, "I'm sorry, was that weird. I didn't mean to offend you." The gothic girl stood up and threw her arms around Eva. "What was beautiful, Evie. Thank you for sharing that with me, truly."
Eva's arms slowly embraced her roommate.
Some friendships are so strong that they can even transcend lifetimes.
The school was large, much larger than Eva was used to. Morticia had left for a date with Gomez, so she took the weekend to explore the corridors, hoping to discover more secrets about this mysterious place.
She pushed softly on a door in the west corridor. With careful steps, she ascended the tower. The space was small and dusty, but her footsteps echoed as she walked up. The room was filled with gadgets and machines, far more complex than she could understand. It was obvious its creator was brilliant. She understood the creativity that derived from a mess like this. That there in that room lay a burning passion for research and study.
Eva hummed softly to herself, imagining the kind of person who worked her. She could hear a faint tick among the music until it grew louder. The metronome beat in time with the symphony of strings and wind instruments. She could only describe the music as electrifying; it was insatiable.
Eva's mouth opened to sing, letting the Greek language dance in the air. The walls seemed to hum in response, letting her voice echo and carry down the hall.
Isaac made his way to Iago's tower when he heard a melody come from his study. It was nothing he had ever heard before. The Greek song seemed to embed itself in his very being.
He placed a hand over his mechanical heart as he stopped right outside the door.
The new girl was standing in the middle of his tower, singing. Her glossy hair swayed with her hips. Out of sight, he let his eyes trail her form. Was she a siren? He couldn't help but feel drawn to the music as if she were speaking to him directly. Well, whatever she was, she was in hs way. This was his 3rd night in a row working on finding a cure for his sister, and he wasn't about to stop on the account of some silly song.
"You shouldn't be here." He passed her to sit at his desk.
Eva gasped and turned abruptly. "I'm sorry, I didn't know this was your room."
"Well, now you know, so would you kindly leave. I need to work."
Instead of being dejected, her eyes lit up as she moved to stand next to his chair. "What are you working on?" She peered over his shoulder.
Isaac could smell her perfume mixed with her natural scent. She smelled sweet like nectarines and honey; it was overwhelming. He never had time for romance; between his illness and searching for a cure for his sister, it was never a priority. Yet here this girl was, willingly sitting next to him and asking him about his inventions.
"It's nothing of importance to you. I suggest you leave." Instead, Eva pulled a chair next to him.
"I promise I will be quiet. You won't even know I'm here."
For some reason, he let her. Perhaps he was tired of being alone all the time, or perhaps it was his nerves to turn down a beauty such as herself. And for the two hours, the lyrical genius and the scienntific genius sat together in silence with only the sound of metal clinking filling the gaps.
Isaac spoke up first, "Tell me what you were singing."
She raised an eyebrow at him. "I was singing to your tune." He quirked an eyebrow. "My tune?"
Her eyes lowered to the candle next to his pencil, the flame igniting the contours of her face. She looked ethereal, he thought, but would never admit.
"It's my gift, I can hear the soul. Each experience, each person is translated to me, and I simply bring them to life." She bore her golden eyes into his misty ones. "That was the symphony of your heart."
Isaac couldn't stop thinking about her. The way she admired his work and kept him company, helping by handing him tools every now and then while she hummed a song, his song.
She began to not only haunt his mind but his reality, and he couldn't turn it off. He could enter a room and immediately pick her laughter out amongst the crowd. She would dance in the corner of his eyes and instantly become the focus of his view.
A sturdy hand clasped his shoulder. "That, my friend, is a look I am very familiar with. It is the look of love."
Isaac scoffed, "What kind of blasphemy are you spewing now Gomez?" But his loverboy roommate only smiled, "Don't just watch the world go by my friend, live in it. Go talk to her." And with that advice, he left to attend to his Gothic queen.
Isaac rolled his eyes at the unhelpful advice just as he noticed his sister, Francoise, approaching Eva. He tensed, his senses sharpening as he watched to see how she would react. But Eva greeted his sister like any other student — with a bright smile and a friendly face.
"Be careful Eva. Don't want to get too close to that freak." A nearby student called as he passed. He could see Francoise's heart drop as her face fell. But in a flash, Eva had turned around, her amber eyes lighting up like a storm. "I don't know who you think you are, putting someone down like that. It's obviously you're overcompensating for whatever brains, confidence, or decency you lack. Do yourself a favor and never say anything like that again unless you want to find out what happens when you cross a demigod. And before he could react, Eva had already begun guiding his sister away from the scene.
Isaac's metal heart ticked in his ear. It stunned him how someone could fight so fiercely for a person they didn't even know. Eva wasn't even cruel, just powerful. It intensified his attraction toward you.
From his observation, Eva and Francoise were attached at the hip. Actually more like his sister was attached to Eva. Francoise admired the way Eva stood up to her bullies and how no matter how cloudy the day looked, she could always count on her to shine.
The three of them sat underneath the skull tree, Franciouse stared as Eva scribbled words, crossed them out, furrowed her brows and repeated. With a huff Eva laid back, the top of her head dangerously close to Isaac's thigh. He stiffened at the closeness. And as if his hand had a mind of its own, he gently took a strand of her hair and twisted it around his finger. Repulsed by his own intrusiveness he pulled away.
"Hey, don't stop. I like it when people play with my hair. Come back." Eva pulled his hand to rest on the crown of her head, closing her eyes once more. With her permission, he ran his fingers through, scratching lightly at her scalp. The sight was so peaceful, so domestic. Francoise had never seen her brother like this. Eva began to hum again.
"Oh Eva can you sing my song?"
Eva peaked one eye open at her little friend. "The song of Francoise? Would you enjoy listening to that?" The girl nodded eagerly.
Pulling her lute to her stomach, the Greek girl began to strum slowly. The words sand from her rose-coloered lips with effortless grace, as if she was a messenger from a gentler world. The siblings sat in silence. It had been a long time since they were able to rest. Eva's song has dispelled their constant worries about what the future held. For now, there was no Hyde, no illness, nothing, just Eva's songs and themselves.
Summary:
Mr. MIT meets his match when a new teammate joins Stormpar. (Y/N) (L/N), a young genius fresh out of Caltech, has had a passion for the science of weather since childhood. Till the age of twelve, she would stay every summer with her grandparents in Oklahoma.
When her school realized she belonged in advanced courses, her parents threw her into every opportunity possible. They claimed she was too good for normalcy and "blessed with a gift that shouldn't waste it on running around the fields."
Shortly after her grandparents passed, but not before leaving the deed of their house to her. The resentment built up over the years combined with her grief finally bubbled over. She swiftly finished her double Major in engineering and meteorology, left California and didn't bother to look back.
You're phone buzzed repeatedly with the mass amounts of texts and calls from your parents. It was evident their concern was wanning by the tone of their texts. From "Come home honey, focus on your career we just want what's best for you." to downright threats, "You owe us your life, come back NOW." Emphasis on the NOW. It was the whole reason you were leaving. They couldn't help themselves by trying to live out their dreams through you. But this was your life not theirs. Your parents were going to have to learn the hard way.
"The plane with be ready for take off momentarily. I ask all passengers to fasten their seat belts, secure your bags under the seat in front of you, and please turn all devices on airplace mode. Thank you."
With a huff you turned silenced your phone and tucked it into the seat pocket in front of you. It would be a long flight, but you were ready for this new adventure. Fortunately after graduating an old friend reached out about a job working with him at Stormpar.
It wasn't a glorious position, nor did it pay enough for someone with your resume, but it was perfect for what you needed. Time away from your parents with a steady income and a way to come back to the only place that felt like home.
You closed your eyes, trying to ignore the growing headache forming, and let the vibrations of the plane soothe you to sleep.
Javi had texted you he was already at the entrance of the terminal waiting for you. Not wasting any time, you grabbed your bags and jogged to the exit. There he was in all his glory, holding up a handmade sign with your last name on it. Pasted half-hazardly were silly pictures of you from childhood. There was you and Javi with your arms slung around him in front of a cake with 8 candles on it. Next to it was a picture of you and your grandparents in the kitchen making lemonade. Right beside that was the makeshift lemonade stand you had together. It wasn't successful only making a few dollars, but you remember the excitement of buying ice ceam with the only money you've ever made.
You ran to him, grabbed the sign, and threw your arms around him. It had been years since you saw Javi. No longer was the lanky kid with long curly hair. Before you stood a well-kept corporate man whom you no longer recognized. You missed him regardless. There was a time when you would have considered him your best friend.
"Hi Javi." You beamed. He matched your smile and patted your head. "Nice seeing you again (Y/N)." He wasn't sure if you were going to accept or not, but was overjoyed when you did. It was the perfect chance to reconnect with an old friend. He knew something had happened that made you go back to Cali, but didn't know what exactly. Next think he knew your LinkedIn said Caltech grad with multiple degrees, club president of 5 orgs, and 2 internships completed.
He helped you load your suitcase into the trunk before holding the passenger door open. "I hope you're ready for the season (Y/N) it's going to be fun but a lot of work." He informed you. "I got a great team out here, these guys are the real deal."
You smiled with excitement and looked at your surroundings. No more were the congested roads heavily populated with tourist, palm trees, and cars. Your vision filled with grass fields and old towns. It was a nice change of scenery.
You arrived at a small, shoddy red red-painted motel and cringed at the sight. Not wanting to be ungrateful for this opportunity you chose to suck it up, keeping a tight smile on your face. Javi helped you carry your bags to your room and handed you your keycard.
"Here's your card, don't lose it. Its the only one you get." He laughed as you took the card from his hands. "And tomorrow we're heading out at 8, so be ready by 7! Get some sleep, we've got a long day ahead of us." He shouted while backing away to his room. Although he looked like a new man, he was the same old Javi you knew as a kid.
Waking up early was never troublesome for you. You ran like clockwork, jogging at 5 in the morning, reading/studying until 7, and then finally getting ready for the day. After your run you felt a pair of eyes on you. Looking up to the 3rd floor of the motel your eyes met a man looking through his window. Usually, it would have creeped you out, but this man was handsome. Despite being far away, you could tell he was tall and built. He wore prossessional attire and you sure were a sucker for a man in uniform.
Back in your room you fulfilled the rest of your routine, shower, skincare, and then braiding your hair in a singular french that ran down the side of your neck.
Stormpar provided you with a uniform top that buttoned all the way up. The shirt felt too small around the chest and was too long on your torso. Annoyed you tucked the lower half into your fitted shorts. There was nothing to do about the way the fabric stretched over your chest. A safety pin would have to do for now.
You slide on your boots and grabbed a windbreaker from the closet before heading to the diner, your long braid swaying with each step.
"(Y/N)! you're here, come meet the team." Javi waved.
You took in each person, memorizing their face and name.
"You'll never work with a more talented team. Look, we got PhDs from NASA, FEMA, NOAA, NWS." He patted his teammate's shoulder.
"Wow you've got the whole alphabet!"
"Only the best, and this is Scott. He went to MIT instead of Muskogee State, but he makes up for it with his beautiful, amazing personality." Javi patted the taller man on his shoulder. When you made eye contact with the sarcastic smile, you instantly recognized him as the man from the window.
"Well if it isn't the peep I saw on my run." You jested. Scott's smile immediately turned into a frown as Javi's mouth dropped. "I was just looking to see the crazy making all that racket at 5am." He argued.
You smiled and patted his arm gently. "Just trying to keep in shape."
You tilted your head innocently. "And MIT is nice, it was my safe school. I'll see you guys outside." You grabbed your coffee before he could argue and left the two standing shocked.
Scott tried to ignore the feeling in his stomach at your teasing and touch. He scoffed and turned to Javi, "Real nice one YOU picked out."
You stirred your coffee looking at the horizon as the rest of the team joined you. Javi spoke up first, "I was thinking you ride with Scott. He's positioned in the back of the tornado, it's less risky for your first ride." You nodded, the nerves simmering in your stomach.
Scott smirked at you as he passed you to the truck. He was definitely going to try to get under your skin after that introduction. He didn't need a distraction like you on the team; you probably weren't even going to be that helpful. His thoughts were interrupted as you hopped in the truck. He couldn't help his eyes darting to your chest as it bounced at the movement, a slip of blue lace peaking through the gaps of the buttons. He gulped and turned his eyes back to the horizon.
You strapped yourself in and beamed at your partner. "Let's go Scotty! We got some rubber to burn." He snapped to you with a fierce gaze, "Don't call me Scotty." He warned. It only made you smile more. "Okay, Sugar lips lets get going." He rolled his eyes and stepped on the gas.
Your eyes widened as you saw the tornado take shape in front of you. Grabbing your camera out of the back, you opened the window and leaned out to take some photos. |
"Get back in here, it's dangerous!" Scott yelled, but you couldn't care less. The thrill felt amazing. This is what you had been waiting for. You felt your seatbelt yank you back in as you turned to look at the culprit. A surge of adrenaline passed through your skin as you eyes met his burning gaze. "Do as I tell you." He commanded.
You giggled before moving your lips right by his ear. "Make me." you whispered and threw your back against the seat, taking in the view once more.
Scott's hand tightened on the wheel before letting out a scoff. Of course, you were a reckless one, with those short shorts and sarcastic attitude. He wondered how long he could last with someone like you on the team.
The two of you got into position before running to the back of the van to set the radar in place. Scott pulled up his mic, "Scarecrow in position."
A few moments passed before Javi's voice came staticky through the headset. "The tornado ran off course, I wasn't able to get the data." Scott threw his earbuds on the dash and ran a hand over his face. "Hey, don't worr,y we'll get it next time." He smacked his fist over the wheel, scaring you in the process. "No, it needs to be...." He took a deep breath and sat in silence. Sensing he needed some time you didn't push it any further.
When you pulled into the parking lot, Scott immediately got out leaving you to wonder what his deal was. This was the first run of the season; there would be more chances.
Javi jogged up to you as you stepped out of the van. "Hey (Y/N) how was your first storm chase?" Despite his smile, you could tell he was disappointed in himself for not getting the data. "It was exciting, thrilling, definitely better than working in the labs all day long." Javi was happy that his friend was enjoying herself. It was a nice change of attitude from the stress of Stormpar and the guilt of losing his friends long ago.
You didn’t mean for it to happen. You just couldn’t sleep. A bad habit developed from your days of overworking and overstudying. You were always going to be younger than your classmates, which meant you had to work twice as hard to earn their respect and trust. People looked down at you not just for your age but also for your gender. It was a necessity for you to be able to prove yourself.
Developing insomnia was a consequence of your actions. And now here you were watching Scott get verbally abused by the owner of Stormpar. It was triggering, reminding you of how your parents would lecture you about needing to be better because of your “gift”.
You felt guilty. Sure Scott was an ass at times but he didn't deserve to be ridiculed so loudly like that. You watched as Scott bowed his head at every comment. It made your heart heavy.
Scott glanced behind Riggs’ shoulder to see your form under the dim lamplight. He could see your eyes welling with tears and hands held to your chest. Why were you so upset, and what were you doing out so late? It wasn’t until you ran down the steps in his direction that he realized that you were upset watching the interaction.
Before you could reach him he nodded to Riggs finishing the conversation and moved past him, blocking your path.
“Scott, he was-” you blubbered through the tears. But before you knew it your face was submerged in a strong chest. The smell of cologne, pine, and spice filled your nose. A large hand ran through the back of your head and through your hair. “Shhh. I know. It’s okay. Thank you for coming.” You laughed slightly at the irony that you were coming here to comfort him.
You wiped away tears from you eyes and looked up into his blue orbs. “Are you alright?”
Unlike his usual hard facade his heart twinged at your concern. He hadn’t met anyone so empathetic before . “I’m just fine. Thank you for coming to check on me.” He wiped a few stray tears from your eyes. “Are you okay? Why are you crying.”
You felt embarrassed for getting so emotional. He was 9 years older than you for the love of god and here you were sobbing jn his arms like a child. “I’m fine it just… reminded me of something. My emotions got the best of me.”
Scott sighed, realizing he wasn’t going to get anything else out of you. “Alrigh,t well let me walk you to your room at least, my knight in shining armor.” You laughed at his attempt to joke and nudged his stomach while trying to ignore the way your fingers felt against his hard core.
"Get some rest (Y/N) we have a long day." He hesitated at the end like he wanted to say more. You could see the internal argument he was having with himself, but he just turned around and made his way back to his room.
Your heart sank with disappointment and embarrassment. Pushing away those feelings you closed the door, unaware that the minute you did he turned to look back staring at your room.
The next morning you followed your same routine. “(Y/N)” a familiar voice called to you while you were stretching.
“Scott.” You called softly, giving him a small smile. Boy he was a vision in the morning. Scott wore a grey dry-fit shirt paired with black joggers, his signature hat perfectly covering his dark waves. He waved at you with his water bottle in hand, “Mind if I join you this morning?” You grinned shyly and patted his cheek, “Of course, handsome, let’s see if you can keep up.”
And of course he was able to keep up. Scott was at peak fitness. The two of you jogged in a comfortable silence keeping pace. Occasionally your eyes would draw to him as if there was a magnetic attraction keeping your gaze on him. Feeling your eyes he turned to you, with one of his award-winning smiles. It made your heart beat faster. “What?” He questioned.
You blushed, “Nothing,” which only added to his cocky attitude.
“So…what made you want to join me?”
“I don’t know. I just wanted to try out morning jogs myself.” Liar. He was lying to you and himself. After last night, he thought about you more. The way you shed tears for someone like him. Scott knew he wasn’t the best man. He was arrogant and dismissive; he worked for a company that benefited from the misfortune of others. But there you were last night, crying for him.
You rolled you eyes and sped up past him.
“Hey wait for me!”
At breakfast Javi could tell the energy between the two of you had changed. No longer did Scott harden his gaze at you, but there was a definite softness. He held the door open, pulled out your chair, and made sure to thoroughly explain the plans to you. He’d never seen his partner like this.
“Hey Scott come here, I wanna talk to you.” Scott turned to you and signaled you to wait for him as he made his way over to Javi. “What’s up man?”
“Did you sleep with her?” Javi accused. Scott's eyes widened.
“What the fuck? No of course not. I wouldn’t jeopardize the team like that.” He denied. It was true he didn’t sleep with you, but boy did he think about it.
Javis judgmental gaze ran over Scott then back to you. “You’re acting different? Did something happen? You can tell me.”
“Nothing happened man. We went for a jog together this morning and nothing just talked. I realized she wasn’t as bad as I thought she was okay? Now I gotta get back to work.” He turned and made his way back to you. Your eyes lit up at Scott, which didn’t go unnoticed by Javi. He worried about you. Javi had just gotten you back and not you were acting different. Maybe he didn't know you as well as he thought he did.
The loud reving of an engine broke you out of your daze as you and Scott prepped the Van. “Who are they?”
“Hillbillies with a YouTube channel.” He rolled his eyes.
Their main star emerged from the red truck.
“If you chase it!” He yelled.
“Feel it!” The crowed shouted back.
Scott’s chest blocked your view of the tornado wranglers. “Come on let’s get in the truck.” With his hand against the small of your back he guided you into the van.
After a few minutes into your drive you placed your hand on his thigh. “Don't worry Scott we’ll get that data today.”
He clenched his jaw and grabbed your hand, “Thank you.”
The moment was interrupted when a red truck came barreling beside you, almost knocking your car off track.
Instinctively Scott’s hand flew to your chest making sure you weren’t jolted from the force.
Your heart beat fasted as his large hand covered you. The heat from his palm made your core stir as your blood rushed to your cheeks. “Scott?”
He brought his hand down and moved a stray hair out of your face. “Are you alright? They could’ve fucking hit us and hurt you.” He was furious.
“I’m fine Scott don’t worry.”
“Don’t worry?! That reckless driving could’ve have seriously hurt you.” He clenched his jaw tightly. As if he didn’t already dislike Tyler Owens, he hated the idea of you being hurt.
The rest of the drive was in silence. And as if it could be any worse your team did not get the data thanks to the Wranglers' interference.
You knew Scott was furious. That man wore his emotions all over his face. You could practically feel the heat radiating off him.
“I’m sorry Scott.”
He scoffed. What did you have to be sorry for. You did you part, you help recode the radar, you actually valued and listened to his input, you showed him kindness. The hell was wrong with you.
“Whatever we’ll just try again tomorrow.”
The team was tense. Failure after failure took a toll on everyone. But the only person you cared for right now was the man currently brooding on the couch next to you.
After you guys had gotten back to the motel, you offered Scott time to help make the next plan. He appreciated your efforts.
You weren’t lazy. He had seen that through your tireless work to plot and replot the data, cross-checking the weather, re-reading the radar scans. He admired that about you.
With a sigh you pushed the laptop onto the table and leaned your head back on the sofa. “I can’t look at that screen anymore. It’ll burn holes in my eyes.” You turned to Scott, who was currently chewing away at that Trident gum he always had with him. His jawline flexed as you dragged your eyes down his face to his neck.
Now it was his turn to push his laptop away. “You’re right we need a break. It’s just that Riggs is expecting progress and we’ve barely made a dent.”
You bit your lip. It was a tough situation and you couldn’t bear to see Scott so stressed. You got up and walked behind the couch and rest your hands on his shoulders.
“What are you-” before he could finish his sentence, you pushed your hands down on his shoulders massaging firmly at the knots held rigid under his shirt.
Scott’s eyes fluttered shut as you made your way from his shoulders to his neck to his shoulder blades.
A deep moan slipped from his lips as you elbowed a particularly large knot in his back.
“You’re fucking amazing.” He commented.
Your scent was invigorating. He could feel himself hardening are your touch and your smell. You were so close he could practically feel your chest against his back.
He felt his need bubbling up.
Turning around, he grabbed your wrists and stood up. You feared he was upset that you had gone too far. But instead he leaned in a kissed you. It wasn’t slow or gentle but rough and needy.
You wrapped your arms around his neck as he lifted you up. The warm of your core on his cock made him shiver. And against better judgment, he gently laid you on the bed not breaking contact.
He knew he shouldn’t. You were his coworker, Javi’s friend this could jeopardize the team. But he was just a man, and you were a beautiful woman inside and out. How could he deny that? It was complicated, but in the moment, the answer was simple.
You moaned as he thrust his hips into yours.
“Do you want this?” He looked at you sincerely.
“Yes. I’m sure.” He kissed your cheek and made his way down your neck.
“You’re gorgeous. How did I get so lucky?”
“Probably that amazing personality.” You giggled.
He chucked against your skin before running his hands under your shirt. Quickly, you stripped off your top as did he, before engaging in another heated kiss.
Your hands fiddled with his belt, hearing the satisfying click. He was kicking his pants on the ground and looked back at you. You sat up and pulled his briefs down letting his cock spring foward. It was throbbing and stood tall in your face. You looked up into his eyes just to see his gaze boring into you as if he were looking straight through.
Tentatively, you wrapped a hand around him. Up down. Up down. His expression turned to one of pleasure as he lowered himself down on you. Up down. Up down. You pumped his cock gently in your hand before bringing it down to rub against your wet slit. His head nudged between your lips, making you both shiver. "Scott, tell me what you want." You looked up at him longingly. He was beautiful. You watched him breathe heavily.
"I want to fuck you."
Your body was on fire from your toes to your chest. The movement of his bare cock grinding against you. Desire poured out of his skin. He kissed your jawline and sucked on your neck.
You gasped and closed your eyes as his hand drew down your butt grabbing firmly. He lifted your hips up and slowly slid in the tip.
"More!" You grabbed the back of his hair.
He sheathed himself in your heat and groaned, grabbing the headboard behind you. It had been a while since he last fucked anyone, but you were different in the way you held yourself to high standards and gave passionately to the people around you. You had caught him in your web; he was undeniable attracted to you, mind, body, and soul.
Scott fucked you like it was the last thing he was ever going to do on Earth. He was rough, but that was just the way you liked it. He took charge thrust hard and fast, occassionalty letting aa hand slip down to rub your clit. Your moans echoed across the room, combined with the sound of the bed squeaking and skin slapping. He filled you up, you could feel him through your lower core. Scott pressed a hand firmly on your abdomen.
"Feel that baby? That's me inside of you. You feel so good, I might never pull out." He closed his eyes and rutted in you over and over.
With your last ounce of strength you pushed him over next to you, not letting his cock slip out. You forced his shoulders down and began moving up and down. He watched you smile down at him while your chest bounced, he could've cum right then and there if he didn't have self control.
You rode him for what seemed like hours before you felt the familiar build up in pussy. "Scott im gonna cum!" You squeezed your eyes shut.
He grabbed your chin, forcing you to look down. "No open your eyes, look at me while you cum." You stared back down at him. His eyesbrows furrowed as your pussy clenched around him. "Fuck," He moaned as his hands over for you're hips.
You clenched once more before letting yourself cream around him, his semen filling you up and dripping out of your cunt With deep and heavy breaths, you fell onto his chest, his arms naturally wrapping around you.
"Scott?" You lifted your head to look at him.
"Yes (Y/N)?" He stroked your hair with one hand.
"Are...is this a one-time thing?" You asked nervously. Maybe you should have asked before, but you were too caught up in the moment. As much as you wanted to savor the peace, it was something that had to be asked.
Scott sat up at your question. "What no, I mean unless you want it to be." You smiled at him and shook your head. "No, believe it or not, I like you, Scott, no matter how much of a stick in the mud you are." You punched his shoulder gently.
"I'd like to keep seeing you (Y/N), but maybe..." His eyes drift to the side. "Maybe let's keep it from the team for now. I don't want them getting any thoughts or questioning your position." You nodded your head. "I agree." Lying back in his arms, the two of you slept comfortably as if life had always been like this.
Pt2?
Unedited : This was probably the longest fanfic I've written and its been a while so sorry for the mistakes T-T Ill come back to edit this when I had fresh eyes.
Side note can't believe the filmmakers tried to make us focus on Glenn Powell when fine shyt was right in front of us.
An unlikely meeting of a lonely scientist and a student of the arts finding the beauty in themselves and each other.
Viktor never considered himself beautiful. His dimly lit room contained the basic human needs, a bed, a desk, and a sofa, all provided by the academy. There were no big mirrors besides the foggy one that sat above his bathroom sink. He barely glanced at it other than to fix his bedhead. The bags under his eyes and paling skin were hard to look at. Viktor believed in his work; he couldn't care less about vanity when he poured his energy into the lab daily. In the same way, he cared about his looks he gave the same effort into cultivating relationships.
Like the mirror, Viktor didn't spare a glance at someone who wasn't interested in conversing about his projects or his vision for a better world.
You were the complete opposite. You took life one step at a time, a personification of stopping to smell the roses come to life. As an artist, you look to beauty in the everyday.
Perhaps it was fate your paths crossed, usually, you never dared enter the science wing of the academy but you had finished your painting early and wanted to go on a stroll to clear your mind. It was intimidating being around the brightest minds in Piltover. Most of them looked down on your profession. What was art compared to science? They'd mock you as you passed them, believing their work was revolutionary and way more important than a simple painting. It unnerved you but you'd never show it.
A string of curses left Viktor's lips at another failed attempt at the Hexcore. Progress day was just a few weeks away and he had nothing to show for. As he hit his hand on the table in frustration, the vibration pushed the lab door open. The light from the small room shone on your face as you passed.
Hearing a man's frustration you cautiously peaked your head through the door. You couldn't see exactly who was in the room but you could make out his back. The man was slender but had broader shoulders clad in a maroon button-up and white vest. His hair was a deep brown that flitted out over his ears.
The room was messy, not as messy as your studio. You could see the genius behind the papers strewn over the desks and the many machines being worked on with the smell of oil in the air.
Feeling the unusual sensation of being watched, Viktor turned his head to the side finding the door had been breached open. With a cramped hand, smeared graphite from all the writing he had been doing, he grabbed his cane and made his way to close the door.
He pushed the opening gently finding the scene of you sitting on the floor, scribbling furiously in your notebook. His amber eyes drifted over your, messy locks tied in a ponytail, paired with gentle features that harmoniously made your face look perfect if it wasn't for the paint smudges on your cheek. He took a peak at your sketchbook finding familiar figures on the page of him in the lab.
"What are you doing here little mouse?" He spoke in his soft accent.
You stopped sketching and looked up, eyes widening at his presence. "I um...I was just passing by. I'm (y/n) part of the arts department." You looked down at your drawing, cheeks flushed with embarrassment at being caught.
The handsome inventor crouched in front of you to sit. He held out one hand, "May I see?"
You nodded and pushed your book into his hands, eyes boring into his face. Even under the dimly lit hallway of the academy, he was much more attractive. The flicker from the bulbs danced on his high cheekbones and you swore you could see the specks of brown in his amber eyes.
Viktor scanned the page in detail. It was fascinating how you were able to so accurately portray his figure and inventions. Every nutt and bolt and every curve of his body you conveyed beautifully.
"This is amazing (y/n)." He gave you a small smile.
You beamed shyly in response. Tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear you spoke up, "May I? Sit with you and draw you?"
Albeit shocked at your request his eyes widened.
Frighted you might have scared him off you waved your hands, "If not its okay, I should be getting back anyways." You grabbed the book from his hand and shoved your supplies in your bag.
Before you could bolt away a firm grasp held onto your wrist. "You did not give me a chance to answer little mouse." He smiled gently looking down at you. "Come, sit next to me, I would love to be your muse."
You smiled giddly and hopped up dashing into the lab. Viktor chuckled at your antics. He had not experienced meeting someone as sparkling as you. It was as if someone had collected a burst of a newborn star and embodied it into a girl.
You carefully danced your way around the lab not wanting to knock anything over but also letting your curiosity draw you in. You turned to the sound of a chair scraping the floor. Viktor had sat down and began writing his research again.
Dragging a chair next to him you position yourself at his side with enough space to give you the perfect angle of his face and upper body.
The almost burnt-out candle on Viktor's desk cleared the way of the darkness while the two of you worked on your delicate craft in silence. The sounds of scratching pencils battled each other as your furious ideas filled the page.
Feeling the way your eyes bore into his skin Viktor couldn't help but feel nervous. What if you actually wanted to leave and were staying here out of pity. Why would you want to stay anyways? He wasn't conversing with you nor was he doing anything worth viewing.
Unable to resist his interest any longer he turned to look at you. Your eyes met paired with the warmest smile he's received in a long time. Your smile made his heart flutter in a way that was concerning. Perhaps it was his condition acting up again.
Silently you held up your notebook to his face.
The breath in his lungs had dissipated. It was...stunning. Was that really him?
The page contained 3 versions of himself. Every wrinkle on his face, the curve of his jaw, and even the bags under his eyes were present. Somehow you had made him look...decent, attractive even.
"You flatter me too much little mouse, this looks far better than I do in person."
You leaned forward pushing your book on the table. "No this is you. This is exactly what you look like."
You brought up a slender finger and traced his features. "See this here? Is also here." One had felt his face the other pointed to different places in your picture. "You are beautiful Viktor." With a soft smile, the light flickered on your face showing the freckles that danced on your skin.
"Well, thank you little mouse I like your drawings very much."
You nodded and flipped the page to continue.
The two of you worked in silence for hours. Neither of you spoke a word but the atmosphere felt like a home on a Christmas night. Quiet but comfortable, filled with some kind of magic.
"I wish I had my watercolors." Viktor paused at your honey-smooth voice.
"Why is that?" He questioned. His eyes fluttered back and forth over your figure. Fresh laundry, paint, and lavender filled his lungs as you let your hair down from your ponytail.
"You have these gorgeous amber eyes that I just want to paint but I can't" You pout.
Viktor laughed heartily at your confession. "Well, why don't you come tomorrow night. I will be here again and you can paint me." He took an insecure pause. "If you want of course."
You nodded before looking at the time. "Oh my it's so late, I'm so sorry for keeping you. I should head back now." Viktor gently held your hand that laid on his shoulder.
"Do not worry, I was going to be here regardless. Actually, I would like to thank you, your presence was most enjoyable."
You blushed and brushed a few locks of hair from Viktor's face. "Well, then I'm glad I could be of good company."
Packing up your supplies you couldn't help but notice Viktor's disappointed face.
With a smooth tear, you ripped the drawing from your sketchbook. Surprised he jumped up thinking you tore the picture.
"Here! Have it. It will be a promise I'll come tomorrow."
Realizing you were giving the drawing to him, he gingerly held the drawing staring at the multitude of strokes that somehow compiled into his likeliness. He swore the room was growing warming, what else could excuse the heat filling his chest.
"I'll hold you to that, little mouse."

Pt1 Pt2 Pt3
Days had passed since the "I love you" incident, and Chase avoided you like the plague. Each time you tried to talk to him, he'd run away. Even in class, he would move seats when you tried to sit next to him. You even tried to enlist the help of Adam, Bree, and Leo with no such luck.
You looked at the missing seat at your lunch table as if it were calling to your guilt. Feeling tired of beating around the bush, you slammed your hands on the table, alerting your friends. "Okay, guys, I can't do this anymore. Chase can't keep avoiding me." Adam laughed. Well, what he did was super embarrassing. I'm surprised he's still at this school!" You glared at the tall boy.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a familiar blue plaid shirt and rushed from your seat out the door. "Chase! Wait please!" The minute you called his name he was running. You followed, sprinting past every student carelessly bumping into a few.
You finally caught up to him and threw yourself against him, gripping his elbow and pinching his skin. "Ouch!" He yelled while rubbing his arm. You breathed out heavily, "I'm sorry but Chase you need to talk to me. We need to talk about what happened."
He rolled his eyes, "Nothing happened I made a mistake, I was overwhelmed by the dance and the music I just blurted it out."
Unable to hide your disappointment the scowl on Chase's face wiped completely off. You turned your gaze to your shoes and sighed. "Look Chase, If that...kiss meant nothing to you that's fine. But it meant something to me. I don't just get involved with anyone." Your throat started to feel tight. Chase motioned to speak but you held your hand out, "I really like...I really liked you." Trying to keep your composure you turned and ran away weaving through people. You could hear Chase call after you but to be honest you weren't in a talking mood anymore.
Bree called you that night to talk about what happened. "Oh (y/n) he's just an idiot boy. An idiot that really likes you, that can't shut up about you half the time." Currently, half a pint down of strawberry and cheesecake ice cream you stuffed the spoon in and wiped the tears from your eyes. "Then why did he say that to me?" You frowned at the memory of Chase basically rejecting you. "You know guys say stupid things when they don't think. He was just nervous about being rejected by you."
Bree sighed before continuing, "Look, you're a solid 10, and anyone would be lucky to even get close to you. He's just a dork with no experience with girls, and as terrible as it sounds, he probably feared rejection so much that he wanted to end things first." Bree knew Chase messed up, in the back of her mind she was a little happy thinking she could have you back. The way you made her feel made her...question some things. She shook her head at the thought, Chase liked you first, it was only fair. "Look, we're going to the beach tomorrow, come."
You hesitated, "I don't know if he wants me there..."
"He will trust me. And if not at least this is the chance to show him what he's missing." She countered. You thought for a moment before looking at your closet and picking out a little piece you haven't worn in a while. "You're right, I won't let him ruin my fun. I'll see you tomorrow!" She squealed with excitement.
You were walking on the boardwalk waiting for Bree when you noticed caramel brown hair in the distance. Excited to see your friend you ran over giving her a hug. "Bree! Im so excited this is going to be so fun." She gave you a once over. You were wearing a black string bikini top that was a size too small emphasizing your chest as your tanned skin glistened in the summer heat. On the bottom, you wore short jean shorts that were definitely not past your fingertips. Bree brazenly drooled, "Damn girl...Uh Chase will not be able to take his eyes off you."
You lowered your sunglasses and winked at the girl, "Just as planned." Next thing you know Leo comes swaggering next to you, "Hey baby how you doing?" You deadpanned and turned to him, "Leo...it's me (y/n)."
He jumped back, "(y/n) damn look at you. Wait till-" He was cut off by someone shouting your name. Adam with a goofy grin on his face walked up with Chase trailing behind.
Chase turned to look at you, begging his eyes to stop trailing down your well-maintained frame. He looked down and clenched his jaw. He began rambling in his mind, trying to think of anything else that might distract him from you.
A soft hand touched his arm, "Hi Chase." He looked up and greeted you back before Adam shoved him out of the way causing him to knock into a large man. "Watch where you're going!" he barked. Ignoring him Adam strolled up to you giving you a once over, "Wow y/n you are looking fine, capital F-I-O-N-E." You chucked and rolled your eyes at the oldest Davenport's antics.
Before you could get another word out Bree turned to scold them, "Um aren't you guys supposed to be watching the van?" The brothers looked at each other in fear before taking off.
"Come on." Bree grabbed your arm dragging you with her.
The five of you stood on the beach, looking at the indent in the sand where their van should have been. You watched Chase freak out. Trying to comfort him, you placed your hand on his back, rubbing up and down, feeling his muscles contract under your touch.
"We have to tell Mr. Davenport," Bree confessed.
"Oh yeah? And tell him hey that really easy task where all we had to do was sit and wait well we didn't, totally blew it and the world is toast oopsie!" You looked at Chase and then Bree questionably. What was so important that losing the van was world-ending? Noticing your confusion Leo leaned over to you, "Don't worry they're just uh really dramatic." You nodded slowly still unsure about what to make of the situation.
After the policeman came to inform the family over the $200 fine they convinced you to try and help them raise the funds. You watched Adam take a metal pole and turn it into a bunny and narrowed your eyes at the sibling's suspicious behavior.
You pulled Bree aside, "Look Bree I thought this was going to be fun but I feel like...there's something you guys are all not telling me." She laughed nervously eyes flitting back and forth. "What?! No trust me there's nothing weird going on everything is totally normal."
You crossed your arms and raised your eyebrow at her. "Look every family has their quirks and I'm no one to judge but...something is off and I don't like being lied to." For someone who was keeping a secret Bree's crestfallen face was really convincing, it made you feel a little bad. But that was just it, you hated being lied to or left out. "I'll see you around." You waved and headed in the opposite direction.
As Leo was managing the show Chase watched your figure retreat in the distance before running over to Bree. "What did you say to her?" He accused. He always thought Adam Leo or Bree would be the first to give up their bionic secret. "Nothing. I couldn't tell her why we were acting weird so she just left." The siblings turned to look at you walking away.
Bree sighed before continuing, "This always happens, our stupid secret gets in the way of every relationship we try to build."
Chase put a hand on Bree's shoulder, "I'll go talk to her after this, I'm sure she's just confused." The two looked at each other hoping that you could forgive them.
After the whole mobile lab situation and saving the Earth from imminent doom, Chase begged Tasha to stay on the beach a little more claiming that he still needed time to do ALL the activities. Granted a few more hours he quickly stalked up and down the boardwalk and beach looking for you.
Time was flying by, he had grown weary under the heat when he sat on a bench closing his eyes to catch his breath. The lingering sun on his skin was eclipsed with a cool shade. He opened his eyes and saw you staring above him with a cold lemonade in your hands. You smiled slightly and brought the cup to his lips, "You look super tired, you probably need this more than me." He grasped the cup with two hands and chugged the icey sour but sweet drink. A small bead of the drink dribbled on his chin as he ignored your piercing gaze. "Chase...why are you looking for me?"
He put the cup down and stood up chest barely touching yours. "I...I want to make this right with you." He took a deep breath, the words in his head, what he wanted to say started to jumble together. Your eyes bore into his as if you could read his thoughts trying to search for the answer yourself.
"I like you (y/n). More than I've ever liked someone before. And this feeling is overwhelming. You do things to me that make me do stupid stuff because...well, I don't what what to say. I'm terrified that you'll find someone better and not want to hang out with me anymore." You placed a hand on his cheek, feeling his warm skin push into your palm. "Chase I won't find someone better because you are someone better. I admire you, the way you care about your family, and your excitement about science and literature." You lifted your other hand to fully grasp his face. “You have bewitched me, body and soul.” you quoted.
He chucked, "Okay Mr.Darcy, I suppose I'm Elizabeth then?" You laughed and smiled at the thought.
"But, Chase I know there's something you and your siblings are keeping for me." Your smile disappeared as did his. "I...I can't tell you." He watched you frown at his confession. "It's not just my secret to tell, but trust me if it was important I'd let you know. But for now, can we just keep being normal?" You paused and looked into his hazel eyes that held so much sincerity. There was not a single indication of malice but rather a silent plead for you to believe him. "Fine. I'll leave it alone for now. But I expect you to tell me eventually." He grabbed your waist and pulled you into a hug spinning you around. The sound of your laughter filled the air drawing the attention of some bystanders. In the moment it felt like it was just the two of you standing there.
Although it was only your 2nd time, it felt so natural like second nature. The kiss grew more passionate like an unspoken language only the two of you knew. His hand pressed into your hips as your fingers twisted in his hair. He could feel the heat of your bare chest on his.
Chase broke off the kiss first, “Sorry but I know if we keep going I won’t be able to stop and I would really like to date you out on a real date.” You blushed and gently ran your hand down his cheek. “Okay. How about Friday after school?”
He pecked you on the lips, “Sounds like a date.” You beamed up at him before grabbing his hand, “Come on let’s enjoy the rest of today.”
Chase happily followed behind you wondering if god had truly blessed him by bringing you into his life.
After 45 years of marriage, Five confesses to cheating on you with Lila. Heartbroken, you storm out ready to abandon your old life. Filled with regret he seeks you out years later, but it's too little, too late
Five and Lila's infidelity hit you like a truck. Sure your marriage was rocky at times but wasn't everyone's? You never thought it was that terrible that your husband would rather find comfort in the arms of another woman. He didn't even need to tell you. The moment you saw the two in the room, their eyes speaking in a language of their own, you were able to piece it together.
Five and you had known each other since apocalypse #1, and your relationship had stood the test of time.
You couldn't breathe when Five confessed his affair. It was like the world had stopped, his mouth was moving but the sound of blood rushing in your chest was deafening.
Thump, Thump
Your head hammered in your chest. Filled with overwhelming sorrow, anger, and...embarrassment. Your face grew warm, hot tears threatened to spill. You had given your whole life, everything you had to this man and it wasn't enough. Was it ever enough? How much did the world want from you.
You turn and ran, ignoring the calls from him and his siblings. This was much easier than confronting the truth.
Your chest burned, your skin felt like it was on fire. Your long nails clawed at your wrist trying to scratch off what was left of his lingering touch. It felt dirty. You felt dirty. You wanted to rid every part of him from your life. The phone in your back pocket was buzzing with life, but you couldn't care less for the feigned sympathy or the pathetic attempts at pity from the rest of the Hargreeves.
You called a cab back to the downtown apartment you shared with your former lover. The state of your ruin made the cab driver turn back twice. He was used to giving rides to women scorned by ungrateful men, you weren't any different this was the city after all. But the look in your eye was clouded by something other than revenge but a sort of blood lust that sent shivers up his spine.
You booked it up the flight and threw the door open to the place you once called home. You shoved all you could find into a small suitcase. by the handful. Clothes, money, all the charges in the house, good luck finding a way to charge your phone Five.
A creek was sounded at the entrance. You turned slowly to look at your betrayer.
Five held his hands out in an attempt to calm you, but his pitiful stare only intensified your rage. "(y/n) " he whispered. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you but Lila-" That was enough. You didn't want to hear his sick stupid love story. Your memories flash back to the day you and Five got married at the commission, then to the moments in Dallas where he held you in his arms whispering sweet nothings in your ear to help you sleep.
You forced your eyes shut pushing tears out, letting them streak down your face. Holding up a hand you spoke, "I... I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear anything. I will be out of your hair, you won't need to think of me, you can pursue the life you want. I'm sorry I wasn't enough to make you happy. But please, save me from the sorry excuses and let me go."
Five was torn, he didn't want to let you go but looking at the state you were in and the choice he made, what could he do?
He stood there like a blank wall as you pummeled past him with your ratty brown leather suitcase slamming the door shut.
He took a look at his life now without you and started to clean. He picked up the stray pieces of clothing you left behind.
A red polka-dotted dress, the one you wore when you forced him to go dancing with you. He remembered hating it back then but now looked back fondly as your bright smile imprinted his memory.
He moved to the kitchen, the sink was full and there was trash around the counter. He looked at the cake dish sitting on the stove and remembered when you celebrated his birthday. You baked a delicious chocolate cake with marshmallow fluff and gifted him a new watch.
The watch, a gift from 2 years prior was broken. The glass was cracked and the hands of the little clock were stuck.
Moving back to the living room, he sat in his chair, putting his head in his hands. He hoped that all this would blow over, that Lila would realize her and Diego's marriage was unfixable, and that you would forgive him. Had he taken the time to really think he would have realized he just made the biggest mistake of his life.
The next three years went by fast for Five. To him it was the same routine every day, wake up make coffee go to work, get stuck at work, come home late, go to sleep repeat. Lila had gone back to Diego to try to make their marriage work. When he thought of his oldest niece's eyes and the twins' angelic faces, a pang of guilt hit him in the chest. The rest of the family fell out of touch with him, even Luther the man that was so keen on keeping them together, stopped calling.
And then there was you. Not a day passed without him thinking about you. The last memory he had was the look on your face clouded with anger, eyes lit up like lightning in a storm and filled with betrayal. He began stalking you, seeking you out in person and online.
You weren't too hard to find, not many people your age didn't have social media.
You looked good. You seemed to be working out, living your life. It was evident in the photos of you and Allison at the bar or you half-naked on the beach on some island. But there was one tagged photo that caught his eye. It was an obscured picture of your hands holding a bouquet with the caption "Love this girl 🌹"
Love this girl?! Who the fuck was this.
Upon further research, the account user went by the name of Alexander.
But there was no indication that you two had a relationship other than this picture that you didn't even like!
He'd have to go find out himself.
The next day Five took off work early to see what you did during the day. He had discovered you became a sculptor, best known for your Greek-like full-body pieces. It was amazing, you were so talented...how come you never told him this? Maybe you brought it up before when he wasn't listening? Or did you just discover this recently? Regardless of your profession, he found that you were always couped up in your studio, not many people visited either.
He stalked your gallery openings. Your face shining with pride as you presented your works. The space was filled with admirers of the arts. Compared to the retail worker depressing person you were years back Five couldn't help but think that he was your baggage not the other way around.
You had built this life for yourself without the burden of his emotions and putting his needs first. He admits he was selfish at times. Hard days at work ended with lashing out at you but knowing that your heart would welcome him back in the end.
It wasn't until next week he was enjoying lunch at a local dinner when you came strolling in, intertwined with the arms of Alexander. He swallowed the hurt feeling that bubbled its way up.
You looked happy. Your presence was youthful and bubbly, like in your younger days. It wasn't fair, he thought. But in the back of his mind he was reminded of his faults, You did this.
You sat near where he could smell your luxury perfume, Miss Dior. He turned so you wouldn't see him. Glancing back a small sparkle caught his attention. While laughing loudly at a joke, you raised your hand to take a sip of water and there it was. a Bright glimmering diamond on a silver band. Its predecessor was a small silver ring that had vines twisting around your finger to encapsulate a small sapphire gem.
You replaced him.
Like he did you only you didn't even replace him because he left you.\
Instead, you had found someone new, someone better. This guy was in top shape he wore an expensive suit and looked... well in his opinion "more manly."
The sound of a spoon hitting glass rang out in the diner. The man you came with stood up. "Hello, I'd like to make a toast to my wife. This is our 1st anniversary and we are celebrating where I first met her, this very diner. (y/n), you are the 8th wonder of the world and I knew that you'd be mine the minute you walked into this place with nothing but a suitcase in hand."
You cringed memory. It felt so long ago, the day that Five confessed he cheated.
"Anyways, you took a while to let me in your life and I enjoyed every moment I spent with you as your friend. And I will enjoy every day of my life as your husband. I want to thank you for loving me and may we have many more years to come."
Cheers erupted throughout the bar. You were brought to tears at your husband's speech. A moment passed when you were distracted by a small-looking Greek man who rushed out of the diner. Ignoring it you turned back to Alex pushing down the familiar feeling of pain in your heart.
And then I go and spoil it all
by saying somethin' stupid like, "I love you"
Pt1 Pt2 Pt3 Pt4
Thankfully the week had passed and with the help of Chase, you were able to ace your history test.
Your friendship with Bree was going smoothly. When you had time the two of you would gossip about others, talk about boys, or the latest episode of Vampire Diaries.
Your Saturday morning was bleak, your older brother who had become your guardian, was covering a coworker's shift, leaving you alone in the tiny apartment you shared. A heavy sigh left your lips as you sipped on a cup of jasmine tea. Buzz buzz...
Your phone screen lit up with a picture of Chase. His contact image was a photo of the two of you during lunch when you had accidentally matched colors. His smile matched yours as both of you faced the camera. Seeing his arm around you in the photo brought a familiar heat to your core.
The message read, "Tasha and Davenport are heading out, want to come over?"
Excitedly you changed out of your pajamas leaving the house in a pink skirt and white blouse. With no time to do your hair, you clipped it up leaving a few strands in your face.
Chase jolted at the sound of the doorbell and hurried to open it. The moment his eyes fell on you, a breath caught in his throat. You looked... different—your hair swept up, framing your face in a way that softened your features, lending you an air of delicate elegance.
As you stepped past him and into the room, his gaze dropped to your blouse. Resting just above your chest, a gold, heart-shaped locket gleamed, rising and falling with the subtle rhythm of your breath. The gentle rise and fall seemed to command his attention, while the sweet fragrance of your perfume wrapped around him, dizzying in its allure.
"You look beautiful," he whispered, the words escaping him in a hushed, almost reverent tone, as though the sight of you demanded nothing less.
You took a seat on the couch as Davenport and Tasha came in carrying their luggage. "This is so exciting! I've never been to Australia before!" You stood back up to greet them, "You're going to love it! The hiking and beaches are to die for."
Another voice from the door spoke up, "Maybe you'll like it so much you won't come back!"
Tasha rolled her eyes at the AI before continuing, "Honey do you have the plane tickets?"
"Plane tickets? We are taking my fully automated private jet." He grinned. You poked Chase's side, "Oh lala fancy."
"Leo this is your chance to prove you're responsible enough to stay home without us." Leo looked baffled and pointed to the siblings, "me what about them?"
Davenport looked at you cautiously, "They're responsible enough...you on the other hand were designed to break things." He eyed Leo down.
Leo pushed the couple out the door, "Don't worry it'll be fine enjoy your trip!"
The minute they left Adam and Bree shouted "Woo party!" and left to do their own plans, leaving you and Chase...and Leo.
Chase side-eyed Leo as if saying, "How about you beat it so I can hang out with the girl I like." It appeared Leo wasn't as receptive and stayed in place.
The three of you sat on the couch in painful silence before Leo decided to get up and play with his toys/action figures, leaving you, Chase, and a large gap between the two. You turned to Chase, "I know you and your family are coming to see my show next week, but would you like to see what I've been practicing so far?" He nodded eagerly.
You stood up and played the music for your solo on your phone.
Deep breaths in. Deep breaths out. In. Out.
Ballet was more than movement; it was your escape, your body bending and stretching in ways that felt both impossible and freeing, guided not by thought but by the rhythm that pulsed through the music. The Rose Adagio—your long-awaited solo—was your moment to demonstrate the intimate conversation between body and melody.
Chase’s gaze never wavered. Every spin, every leap you made seemed to pull him deeper into your world, as if he, too, was part of the dance. His eyes followed you with an intensity that felt like a silent partner, mirroring your every step. Each graceful leap was weightless, landing so softly it was as if the air itself caught you. As the music swelled, you moved with a passionate fluidity, your skirt sweeping through the air like petals caught in a gentle breeze. The symphony crescendoed, and even from across the room, you could feel him sway with the rising tide of emotion in your dance as if the music had tethered him to you.
You stopped breathing slightly harder, "Well um...what did you think?" nervously shuffling your hands together.
Chase snapped out of his reverie and took one step before playing his arms around your lefts and lifting you up, spinning you around. "That was the most amazing dance I've ever seen, the way you move was like a swan descending into the water, it was like... it was like the feeling of the first autumn breeze." He rambled on with many beautiful comparisons but you were too busy staring into his eyes. Overcome with happiness, you grabbed his face and softly planted your lips on his.
Chase paused before leaning in, one hand on your waist the other holding your jaw. This was no kiss of lust but one of appreciation for each other. His heart thumped against his chest, deeper and deeper.
The smell of his natural cologne invaded your senses, his lips pressed against yours, your noses brushing up occasionally. Your hand grabbed his hard muscle the other lightly resting on his stomach.
You sunk in his embrace, letting his lips brush against yours before interlocking again. Your hand moved up and down his waist feeling the heat of his skin. Your thumb mindlessly toying with his waistband.
The two of you broke apart immediately letting the forgotten air fill your lungs. The phantom feeling of the kiss lingered as you took sight of his flushed face.
"I love you." He blurted out.
Your eyes widened. He stammered, "I mean no I don't, I mean I like you but we also just met, and I love you?" You stepped back, "I'm sorry Chase look I really like you but..." You stopped not knowing what to say back. It wasn't that you DIDN'T love him, but rather you didn't know what love was. This wasn't your first rodeo with a boy, but your previous relationship was nothing like this one. The first boy you ever "went out" with was immature and only liked you for your body.
Rather than waiting for you to finish, Chase turned around and ran. You stood there not knowing what to do. It would be weird to run after him in his own house.
You packed up your stuff and left, you'd try to talk to him tomorrow.

Summary: You and Five attend Viktor's concert but there's a mysterious figure following you
You and Five were riding a wave of excitement; at last, there was a breakthrough in your research to get home. The solution felt almost too simple, right in front of you all along. You both concluded that if Five could teleport, there must be an in-between state that allowed him to jump from one location to another. He wasn't merely teleporting; he was opening a portal into the rift, much like how he time-traveled in the first place.
As you worked together in silence, an unspoken tension lingered in the air, neither of you willing to address the emotions from the night before. Five stole glances at you more than once, and finally, you snapped, “What?” your tone sharper than intended. He quickly looked away, muttering, “Nothing.”
You turned your body to him, “You keep starting at me. I know something’s up, spill.”
It wasn’t the right time, in fact It would never be the right time to say what he really thought.
Last night, as he lay staring at Ben’s ceiling, his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, fragments of your face, and echoes of your spirited voice swirling together. He closed his eyes, imagining you in another lifetime—a life where you were together. He pictured what it would be like to hold your hand without hesitation, to kiss your lips whenever he wanted. In the quiet, a voice whispered in the back of his mind: “You love her.”
“Like I told you it’s nothing.” He went back to working on equations. You rolled your eyes at his stubbornness before looking at the clock. “Hey it’s almost 6 we gotta get ready for Vik’s concert.” He cringed slightly, “We’re still going to that?” You slapped his shoulder. “Fuck you mean still going to that of course we are.” You walked out of the dining room back up to Allison’s to pull out a dress to wear.
Five took a long sigh, it’s been over an hour for you to get ready and you were about to be late. His head snapped up hearing the steps of heels down the stairs. You stood at the bottom wearing a tight scarlet-colored dress. The spaghetti straps on your shoulders met in a deep V at your chest. The long silk flowed down your body with a slight slit near your leg. A ribbon tied to your neck in a neat bow as you flipped your hair behind you. Your pink lips parted in a smile as you narrowed your eyes at him. “So… what do you think?” You twirled.
His eyes raked down your body once more heat rushing to places other than his face. He walked up to you and grabbed your hand, leaning down to press a kiss to your palm. “You look as radiant as ever darling.” It was your turn to blush.
The two you proceeded to take the car to the Silverwood Pavillion. Upon arriving, the sea of rich white men and women filled your gazes. Couples dressed to the nines laughed in haughty tones under the glimmer of the chandelier. You and Five walked up to the house usher, "Hello Monsieur, Madam may I have your last and first names?"
"Hargreeves Five," He turned to you "Hargreeves (y/n)." Thud.
His heart was pounding in his chest. A Mrs. Hargreeves.
The pair walked into the venue and made their way down the aisle to your seats. You picked up the pamphlet before beginning to flip through it. Five's jaw clenched in the corner of your eye. "Five? What's wrong." He responded facing forward. "Someone is watching us." You turned your head but stopped when a hand grabbed your chin. Five leaned in, breath fanning your face. "Don't look. Face forward." He said before pressing a hot kiss to your mouth.
You blushed and turned to face the stage. His hand grabbed yours to prevent you from anxiously fiddling with the paper. "Relax." He whispered.
The curtain opened revealing the orchestra. Your mind raced with worry as you listened to the beautiful sound of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67. You played with Five's fingers curling them in and out.
An hour had passed before the conductor announced an intermission. You and Five filled out with the crowd to the bar. Five waved over to the bartender. "An old fashion for me and..." he turned to you. "Just a water please." The bartender winked at you before starting your drinks. Five scoffed at the blatant disrespect the worker had for his date.
His eyes scanned the area for the figure again.
Pulling you closer by the waist, he delicately tucked a strand of hair behind your shoulder, his fingers brushing against your skin, sending shivers down your spine. Leaning in, he whispered, “They’re right behind you. Do you know that person?” He inhaled deeply, his breath warm against your ear. “Just pretend to flirt, and I’ll spin you around.” With a playful smile, you pressed your palm against his chest, leaning into his firm grip as you planted a soft kiss on his jaw.
In an instant, he spun you around, diving into the curve of your neck, planting gentle kisses along your collarbone. You feigned enjoyment, fluttering your eyes as you stole a glance at the shadowy figure ahead. It was hard to make out, but the man stood around 5'10", clad in a sleek black suit, his face mostly obscured by a wide-brimmed hat, blending into the dimly lit corner of the room.
A small sigh escaped your lips as you tangled your fingers in Five's hair, pulling him away from your neck. Pressing your body against him, you felt the warmth and strength of his muscles beneath his shirt. “No clue,” you murmured, glancing back at the enigmatic figure. “He’s too hidden.” Five pressed a tender kiss to your forehead before turning to the drinks laid out before you, the moment lingering of unspoken desire.
You drank your water a little faster than you'd like, a small drop sliding down your jaw. Wipping it away you looked at Five who had already finished his drink. His lips pressed in a hard line flashing his dimples.
He glanced behind you once more but noticed the watchful man was gone. His eyes did a once over the room but the man was nowhere to be found. "Is there any possibility someone from your universe came here?" He asked. You thought hard, "I guess there is but it would be difficult. The only one to jump universes is the Ascendants and the only device to jump was destroyed in an ambush against my family."
You continued, "Whoever it was they didn't make a move, maybe they're waiting for something. We should be cautious."
He nodded his head in agreement. The two of you could hear the music starting back again. Five moved to head to your seats but you stopped him, instead dragging his hand against your waist letting your arms rest on his shoulders. "Dance with me?"
He hesitated for a moment, but looking down at your hopeful eyes he gave in. The rhythm of the music pulsed around you, inviting and vibrant. "Are you sure you can keep up with me?" he teased, but you could see the spark of excitement in his eyes. With a gentle pull, you drew him closer, feeling the warmth of his body against yours. Back and forth swayed together to the beat, and the world around you faded away.
You opened your eyes to see the figure by the door watching you. Wrenching yourself from Five's arms you ran after the man, but as soon as you turned the corner he was gone in a flash of blue. Five came quickly behind you, "What did you see?" You looked at him then back where the man once was, "I think you mean who did it see."
You and Five followed as people began moving back to their seats. The music was lovely and Viktor's solo brought a smile to your face. No matter which Viktor you knew you were always so proud of him. He was able to make a life for himself.
The show ended with loud applause from the audience. Five grabbed your hand as you two moved backstage. Passing by the various musicians you beelined for Viktor. "Vik! That was amazing!" You threw your arms around his neck. "Hey guys I'm glad you came." Viktor's eyes passed over Five who stared at you. His smile softened upon seeing the look he recognized as love on his brother's face. "Thanks for coming, I really appreciate it." You nodded before returning to Five's side. Five leaned down to you, "Do you mind if I speak to Vik alone? Go get some food at the snack table there I'll come get you when I'm done." You nodded and walked away focusing on getting some mini sandwiches.
Five's expression turned serious as he turned to Viktor, "There was someone following me and (y/n) tonight. Did you see the man in the crowd dressed in black, he was wearing a large hat?" Five cringed at the vague description, but it was all he could go off of. Viktor pondered to himself, "Now that you mentioned it I saw that person when I came in, he was across the street from where the backstage entrance was, and he had a briefcase with him." He looked back at Five, "I didn't think too much of it though, just another bystander." Five sighed, "Well be careful, I don't know what's up but something isn't right. Family meeting tomorrow night." Viktor nodded.
Five patted Viktor on the shoulder, "Well anyways it was good seeing you, I'm going to get (y/n) before she starts a fight." He motioned over to your angry face watching another stagehand steal the last pumpkin pastry.
You and Five shared a comfortable silence as he drove home, the academy coming into view. “Five,” you said, pausing to gather your thoughts. He glanced over, and you added, “My feet hurt... could you carry me inside?” He rolled his eyes but smiled, making his way around to your side of the car. With a swift motion, he scooped you up into his arms, your hands instinctively wrapping around his neck as he kicked the door open and led you inside.
He carried you upstairs and gently laid you down on his bed, brushing a soft kiss against your forehead. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” he said, and you nodded sleepily in response.
Afterward, he headed to Ben’s room to get ready for bed, his mind racing with thoughts about what he would tell his family the next day.
Authors Note: I finally took the time to plan out chapters for the rest of the story. It's been a bit challenging since this fic isn't based entirely on the show but I'm excited for where it'll go! Also my paragraphs kept deleting and I had to keep writing this one T_T. Almost started crying.

Chase and his siblings save you from the falling elevator and you can't help but fall for him a little more
Pt1 Pt2 Pt3 Pt4
The next day you saw Leo exit the elevator and slowly crept up behind him. You grabbed his shoulders and screamed "Boo!" Leo jumped up turning around, "I really wish to not have a heart attack at school." He put his hand on his chest. You smiled down at him and shrugged "Sorry."
We walked up to Principal Perry giving her speech about Emergency Preparedness Week. "An emergency drill can happen at any time. So when the alarm sounds, you must evacuate the building in an orderly fashion, like cattle..if cattle had acne and braces...and a future filling up my gas tank."
You turned to Leo before noticing the space next to my empty. He was talking to his siblings. You gradually walked up behind Chase before moving my lips to his ear. "Boo," You whispered. It sent a shiver down his spine, he turned around finding his face a mere few centimeters from yours. He jumped back, "Hey (y/n)! How much did you hear? Um, we were just talking about what superpowers we wish to have."
"Ooh if I had a superpower...hmm.. I think I'd want teleportation or telekinesis. Imagine you could pop anywhere you want! or move stuff with your mind!"
Adam spoke up, "I like this game! I probably want Bree's super speed!" The siblings froze. Bree spoke up, "What he means is he also would want super speed like me! Because I'd always want super speed you know I could get places sooo fast." You turned and nodded. They were a bit awkward but you didn't question it, Adam always did seem to say things without thinking.
You turned to Chase and placed a hang on his bicep "I had to meet Mr. Jackson before class to hand in some work, I'll see you there yeah?" His arm was really muscular. For a nerdy guy who seemed to study all the time, Chase was surprisingly super buff. "Wow, you work out?" You squeezed slightly. He blushed at your praise and responded, "A little bit here and there, I'll see you there." You winked before turning on your heel and sauntering down the hall.
Adam mocked in a high-pitched voice, "Wow Chasey you're soooo buff and hot mwuah mwuah!" He fluttered his hands up and down. "Hey don't make fun of her." Chase glared. "I just don't get what a girl like that sees in a tiny guy like you." But Chase had had enough. He was sick of his siblings, especially Adam ragging down at him. He'd like to believe that someone did find his appeal in this world.
Breaking away from the staredown Leo spoke up, "Hey, you know what would be awesome? If you guys took out your bionic chips and switched abilities."
The gears in Chase's head started turning. Maybe you'd like him more if he was strong like Adam. "Why can't we?"
"I call your super smarts!"
"I call your super speed!"
"I call your super strength"
"I call good looks and charisma! Oh too late already got em." The trio turned to look at him before laughing.
Chase met up with you in history a little while later. "Hey" He nudged your arm. You turned to him with a small smile, holding your finger to your red-painted lips before pointing to the teacher. "I thought I was the goody two shoes here." He chuckled. You rolled your eyes before punching his arm softly.
After class the two of you gathered your things while Chase offered to hold your books for you. "So how was Dance practice?" He asked. Chase had never seen you dance before but was curious. He didn't know much about ballet except for what was seen on TV. You shrugged and replied "Same old, It's a lot of controlled movements. I practiced my pliés, tendus, and rond de jambes. I still struggle at times with my pirouettes but I'm close to perfection!" Chase used his bionics to quickly look up the terms you threw at him. "Wow, that does seem like hard work no wonder why you rehearse so much."
"Hey, I would love to see you dance sometime." You smiled at his interest. Most guys wouldn't care at all about what you said, ballet being a "girly thing".
"Yes! I'd love to have you see me perform! There is a show in a few weeks. We're going to be doing Sleeping Beauty. I can get you and your family tickets." He nodded eagerly. "Great I'll send you the details later!" You ran ahead of him waving to go to your next class. Behind your back, Chase was fist-pumping the air. "Yes! She wants me to come see her!"
The next day you saw Adam Bree and Chase you noticed something was wrong. Earlier you had asked Chase to clarify covalent bonds and he just looked at you and started mubling and laughing about ionic bonds and what even are bonds.
You had met up with Leo who convinced you to take the elevator with him before the emergency alarm went off. You had been so lost in thought thinking about what was wrong with Chase that you noticed Principal Perry in the elevator as well. "Um, what happened why aren't we moving?" Perry shrugged, "The power is still on, must be a fuse. The one day I don't wear my tool belt!"
The room started to feel small. 3 people trapped in a small tin box? You started to panic, blocking out your surroundings you leaned in the corner and slowly fell to the ground. The nerves were getting to you, you put your hands over your eyes and squeezed your eyes shut. Being confined in small spaces was not your cup of tea. You opened your eyes again to Perry prying the elevator doors open. Eyes wide it confirmed the fear, stuck between floors meant that there was no getting out.
Noticing your discomfort Leo went to put an arm around your shoulder. Perry grabbed the phone angrily "Listen up, generation epic fail. It's your fearless and loveable leader Principal Perry. I am stuck in the elevator, repeat I am stuck in the elevator!" Leo quickly removed himself from you "Hey It's me Leo, me and (y/n) are also stuck in the elevator!"
You looked around, "Um Leo, why does it smell like it's burning?" A snap was heard and the elevator shook. You were panicking and breathing heavily when you heard a familiar voice outside. "Leo? (y/n)? it's us we'll be right back to get help." You called out to him in desperation "Please hurry" as the tears fell down your cheeks.
Chase felt guilty, it was partially his fault, partially his siblings, but he was supposed to be the smart one. And now because of them, you were trapped in the elevator. He was going to make it up to you later.
It had been about an hour and a half of being trapped with Perry and Leo and you had just witnessed their... less than normal habits and confessions.
You felt the elevator move up and your heart seemed to want to burst from your chest. The doors opened and there stood the siblings with concerned looks on their faces. You ran out as quickly as possible not wanting to be trapped in a metal box and threw your arms around Chase's neck.
You pressed your face in his shoulder, some tears soaking up in his. His hand pressed around your back while the other one held your waist. "Thank you, I was terrified." Chase tried to comfort you the best he could, "Im so sorry (y/n)." But you shook your head and moved to hug Adam and Bree, "Thank you all for the help. I would love to stay and do something more for you guys but I'm extremely late for practice and am definitely in for a punishment." You grabbed your bag off the grounding giving each sibling a kiss on the cheek and running off.
Chase looked at his siblings, "wow french people am I right?" He laughed off the awkwardness. Leo spoke up next "you saved me I owe you one."
"Actually we're the ones that got you stuck in there."
Leo huffed, "well then you'll be hearing from my lawyers." With that he walked off leaving the trio behind.
The next day at school you brought in a basket letting the smell of apple waft through the halls. Seeing the Davenport kids and Leo you belined to them. "Hey guys, I um wanted to thank you again so I baked this pie ! I hope you like it." You held the neatly wrapped dessert up. It was covered in a red and white plaid sheet with a red bow tied across.
The siblings melted at your gesture, even though they technically were the cause of the problem never have they been thanked for their service. Even Davenport would rather give them a list of things they did wrong before thanking them for their hard work.
Adam was he first to move he grabbed the pie and scooped you up with one arm. "Erm Adam." You muffled in his shirt. "Thank you little Lady this means a lot," he said before fake crying.
Chase tried to not let your kind gift be overshadowed by his jealousy for Adams fowardness with you. He wanted to be the one sweeping your off our feet not his brother. He was thankful when Bree said "Alright Adam let her go, she doesn't want to smell your stinky pits."
"oh right" he said as he let you down gently. You patted your hair back down and fluffed your skirt out. The bell rang as you walked up to Chase holding your arm out, "Well shall we?" He linked his arms through yours, "We shall." Before walking off together.
Behind the two of you Bree gave Chase a knowing stare before scolding Adam who was already first first into the pie.
Authors Note : Im on a writing grind! so much so I think the words are burned into my eyes...
An exchange student comes to mission creek to do 3 things: pass highschool, dance, and fit in. But when a certain bionic boy comes into her life she realizes that maybe her dreams just got a little bit bigger.
It’s been a week since the bionic siblings began living like regular teenagers—going to school, getting cell phones, and attending various events. They’ve mostly adjusted to socializing with their peers and trying to blend in. Each sibling has faced their own set of typical teenage challenges, from first dances and forgotten homework to pep rallies. But aside from Bree, their experiences with romance have been a bit lacking
This morning Bree rushed in the main doors almost knocking Leo over in the process. "Guys guess what ! I head there's a new exchange student from the France who’s here for the next 3 years. I've heard she super popular already and she just started." Bree jumped up and down excited for the potential to have a new friend. It was hard for her to make good friends after growing up in a lab with only boys. But a new person meant someone who had yet to figure out her quirks and weird family, that meant a possibility they could be friends.
Leo stood straight after brushing himself off. "Yeah I saw her in my art class. She's pretty and nice. She even told Trent off for knocking my books over. Oh there she is!" He waved his hands frantically trying to signal the new girl down.
Chase turned around to see the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. You were beaming at the siblings, bouncing your way over in a short white sundress paired with a light pink cardigan. Two red bows adored the sides of your braids and your pink lips moved in slow motion. Chase's hand instantly began to sweat. Even since the Danielle incident he's been hesitant about approaching girls. It wasn’t that he wasn’t interested more so the other way around. Although the confident front he put up, Chase felt he lacked the charisma and social skills compared to Adam and Bree.
Your voice rang out like a soft symphony, your french accent sounded like luxury in his ear. You started talking more but he blanked on what you were saying, too focused on the way your smile looked. Until a big hand punched him in the gut making him lurch forward. "Dude she asked your name." Adams chuckled.
You gasped and put your hands on his shoulders trying to comfort him. "Are you okay?" One of your perfectly manicured hands ran down his chest while the other patted his back to help him stand back up.
"Yep this is a pretty much everyday occurrence," He replied. Chase turned a deep red, he just met this girl and already his family is trying to embarrass him. "Hey don't worry about it, I grew up on a farm with 5 older brothers. You had to endure to survive." You laughed before introducing yourself. "Im (y/n) I just moved here. Leo says I have a lot of classes with you."
“Yeah dude she’s super smart! You guys have the same schedule.”
“ I’m a bit of a smart guy myself , I could help you out sometime,” Leo flirted, waking in front of Chase.
“That’s awfully nice I might have to take on the offer one day! But I better start heading to chemistry, don’t want to be late.” You chuckled. You were thankful for Leo’s directness but you didn’t come all the way here for romance. “I’ll walk with you!” Chase pushed Leo aside sending him tumbling into the lockers. “In fact I’ll escort you to all your classes.” He held out his arm.
You blushed and looped your through his, shocking him and his family. “That’s very kind of you Chase I’d be happy to be your partner for the day.” He beamed back at you. The two of you walked off leaving the rest of the Davenports in awe.
"No way that just happened." Leo managed to say through a dropped jaw.
"Maybe the guys in her hometown are really ugly." Bree determined. With a hum of approvals the group split to attend the rest of their classes.
Meanwhile Chase and you were having a great time. Since no one wanted to parter or sit with the know-it-all teacher pet, you could hang out with Chase the whole day. The two of you developed a bond during these cruel morning hours. Chase found you to be a beautiful girl inside and out. You never laughed at or ridiculed him for odd tendencies and intelligence. In fact you were in awe of him. The way your big doe eyes stared him over his shoulder in chemistry while he was showing you how to do the lab, and then praising him for being so smart, really fed his ego. Compared to his siblings who made fun of him for his excitement, you encouraged it.
The two of you came stumbling into the lunch room, once again arm in arm laughing about a cringy joke Chase made.
"So a neutron walks into a bar, and asks the man ar the counter how much for a beer?"
Chase waved his arm as if to say ta da "He says for you no charge!"
He threw his head back laughing at his own joke while you chuckled next to him.
Leo walked up to you, "He boring you yet? You don't have to be nice to him."
Chase glared at Leo. Typical his family would try to drive away the one nice thing in his life. But you weren't the kind of person who would be swayed so easily. "As a matter of fact Leo, he has been the most welcoming and I thoroughly enjoyed our time today." You sat down at the table next to Bree. Chase smirked back at Leo become taking the seat next to you.
In one swift motion you lifted out your lunchbox and with a thud hit the table. Bree looked at your lunch in shock "Dang girl, you got bricks in there?" She lifted it up with one hand slowly.
You laughed, it did seem excessive. "No just a lot of food and snacks, I have to maintaining my food intake for training." You poped opened the lid and it was filled with healthy greens, carrots, rice, chicken and fruits.
"Training?" Adam questioned. "Hey maybe she's like us-"
Before Adam could revel anymore Chase quickly interrupted, glaring at him before saying "Training for what?"
You looked at him with half a peach stuff in your mouth. "Fwor danch" Chase laughed at your cute face and moved to wipe some juice on your cheek with his thumb. You quickly swallowed your fruit, "For dance, I'm a ballerina. I train in the morning and everyday afterschool so I need to eat all this food."
You pulled another little baggie out of your backpack. "Dont tell me you have more food." Bree said. "Yes but this isn't for me." You opened the baggie to reveal a cupcake. It was chocolate with marshmallow fluff on top and a kit kat sticking out of it.
You pushed your hands to Chase, "It's for you, thank you for helping me today."
Chase gently picked up the cupcake from your hands, "Wow Thank you (y/n)." Leo snapped out of his daze before whispering to Adam "We must be in an alternate reality because no way that just happened."
Chase savored the taste of the cupcake you so graciously gave him. It tasted so rich and sweet. As he bit into it he imagined you in the kitchen making it. Maybe you wore a nice white apron with hearts on it with your hair tied in a messy bun. Your kitchen probably looked straight out of a cottage, filled with your garden goods and the smell of fresh pastries in the air.
You noticed Chase had gotten a little of the marshmallow fluff on the edge of his lips and reached out with your pointed finger to wipe it off. The bionic sibs watched you slowly wipe the fluff before bringing it to your mouth, licking the white cream off.
You looked around the table finding them staring at you before shrugging it off.
After school, you were at your locker packing up your books to go home when you felt a hand on your shoulder. Whipping around you came face to face with Chase. He looked a bit nervous rubbing his neck and looking away from you. "Hey I had a lot of fun today, would you maybe...want to come over? I know our history test is coming up and since you new I'd be a good way to study." Chase braced himself for rejecting. Even though he thought the two of you connected, a small part of him expected you to laugh in his face and never talk to him again. You looked the time then at Chase. "I'd love to, but I have practice now. I'll be done around 5? I can come over after that if it's not too late?" You bit your lip looking at him.
It was hard making friends with your schedule. You were used to losing them faster than you could make them since you always had to cancel plans. But Chase was different, he was a sweet guy. "Sure Ill text you my address?" You nodded and pulled out your phone to exchange numbers. Little did you know his nosy family was right around the corner watching your exchange. The whole day they were in awe of what happened. Chase having game? Talking to a girl and she wasn’t scared away by him? They ducked behind the wall as the two of you turned to leave the school.
Adam spoke up, "Oh I can't wait to mess with him tonight." Rather than let his younger brother have a chance, Adam was keen on pranking him. Bree sighed "There goes the one normal girl I was supposed to make friends with."
Chase was busying cleaning the living room making sure everything was spotless. He prepared snacks, took a shower, and wore his best plaid shirt. He wanted everything to be perfect before you came. He informed Tasha and Davenport he was bringing a girl over to study, and through wide eyes they supported him. The one road block to his study date...Adam, Bree, and Leo.
"Guys this girl means a lot to me. She's funny and sweet. Thinks I'm NOT a freak. And she's the most beautiful person I've ever laid eyes on. Please I mean PLEASE. Do not do anything stupid."
He looked at the group who didn't seem too convinced, "I will do everyone's homework for a week." He watched their reactions light up a bit. "Make it a month and you got a deal." They bargained. He groveled a little and shook their hands "Fine but I'm serious, no pranks, no running in, no trying to bring out Spike." The siblings nodded in agreement before separating. Chase breathed out a heavy sigh, It wasn't like he was trying to become your boyfriend right now, he just really liked you and wanted to get to know you.
In the back of his mind, he thought it was only a matter of time before someone better came up to you and would replace him. Chase wanted to make a lasting impression before that could happen, then maybe just maybe you would stick around.
You arrived slightly later than promised, 5:30. You were about to knock open the door when it swung open revealing the kind boy you had met on your first day of school. "You weren't standing at the door waiting for me right?" a nervous laugh following your statement. "Im sorry I took so long but practice ran a bit later."
Chase grabbed your hand to lead you in, "Don't worry about it, we still got plenty of time." You smiled at him and tucked your hair behind your ear. Chase noticed he had yet to let go of your hand, but you made no indication of discomfort so he kept his hand in yours.
You followed Chase through a quick tour of the house meeting Tasha who was shocked by your presence saying "Wow, you're super pretty. Omg you're the girl Chase was talking about! I'm so excited we can start having girls' days with Bree and-" before she could embarrass him anymore you were pulled away back to the living room.
The two of you spread out your work and began studying. Out of the corner of your eye, you couldn't help but stare at Chase. He was so handsome to you, his olive skin and beauty marks combined with his beaming smile when he talked about his interests. The beating within your chest seemed to quicken and the heat rushed to the apples of your cheeks when he caught your gaze. "Sorry." You said.
"For staring. You're just... I think you're beautiful." Chase looked down. He wasn't used to compliments. He also used to think beautiful was only for girls. But your sincerity and the way you spoke made him feel different about the word.
A few hours into studying the American Revolution your head was starting to feel heavy swarming with information. You plopped your forehead on Chase's sturdy shoulder and closed your eyes. "If I read any more words my brain is going to explore." A hand reached to pat your head. Chase could smell your expensive perfume on your, the scent of roses and books invaded his heightened senses. He closed his eyes as well and inhaled deeply. The two of you stayed like that for a few minutes simply enjoying the contact.
In the kitchen 3 sets of eyes could be seen watching the new friends. "What are they doing?" Bree questioned. They've been watching for a while but now it seemed the pair was just silent. "I think they're sleeping? Cuddling?" Leo commented.
You made the first move to lift your head off of Chase's shoulder. "Sorry I didn't mean to doze off there, you're pretty comfy." Chase laughed, "Don't worry about it. It's getting late." You got up and gathered your stuff. Chase handed you your textbook and savored the feeling of your hand reaching his. Your skin was soft and smooth, he wanted to be able to hold it but it was too soon for that.
He stopped you before you reached the door. "Hey let me walk you home, where do you live?" You gazed into his hazel eyes, the boy was a gentleman you had to give it to him. "Don't worry about it! I live 2 minutes away on my bike. It's not far." You proceeded to wrap your arms around his neck and planted a kiss on the cheek leaving a light pink mark. "Thank you for today and helping me. I'll see you tomorrow, Chase." Leaving him frozen you walked out of the Davenport residence with a permanent smile and and eagerness for the next day.
Authors Note: I couldn't help myself. I've been reading soo many fanfics that I needed to write my own Chase one. I know this start is super sappy but I plan to continue this and follow along the show more.
Don't worry I haven't given up on my Five fics Im rewatching the seasons to get a jump start on those.
Being a girl is: wanting to go to bed early but deciding to just get on tumblr/wattpad/Ao3 for a little bit and then end up finding a fic series that you really like and read until well past your usual bedtime then keeping on because it’s already past your bedtime. Then being mad when you wake up in the morning because you overslept your timer.
