Last May I was immeasurably lucky enough to meet Garth Nix and receive a signed copy of Clariel at BEA in New York. I hadn’t read the Old Kingdom series in probably over a decade, but I nevertheless made a mad dash to the line and spent the next forty or so minutes gushing over lines and scenes still clear in my memory as ever with those also waiting. Needless to say, I went home that night and immediately devoured Clariel and soon followed suit with the original trilogy, relishing every word and genuinely delighted to find that the series was even more brilliant and arresting than I remembered.
Upon finishing, though, I had a whole list of questions, largely regarding the backstory of several characters--I jotted them down as I went and saved them in a draft on here and am now publishing (and crossing my fingers) for Sabriel Day. (Under a cut because of spoilers)
