“your plan for world domination sounds great and all ––––– but what makes you think i’m interested in helping you?” the older man asked as he looked down at her. “what do i get out of this?”

“It’s hardly world domination.” Tracy said, rolling her eyes, her clipboard under her arm. “The sheriff has me signing people up for a fun run, that’s all. Proceeds go towards help for officers with trauma. What you get out of this is a warm fuzzy feeling.”

Theo watched Tracy look down at the hunter, he wondered what all the man had done to her before he’d caught up with them. He licked his lips and listened to her tell him to be careful, he shook his head. 

“You don’t have to worry about me, I’ll be fine.” He murmured. His heart raced in his chest, the hunters were becoming a bigger problem than he’d originally anticipated. 

He walked over, lifting his foot and bringing it down on the hunters throat carefully. 

“Is he alone?” He asked softly.

“I-I.... I don’t know...” She stammered, reaching into her pocket for her phone, keeping her hand in it as she tried desperately to find the voice recorder on her phone. “Theo, it’s okay, we can get away, he can’t move, he isn’t a risk.” Still, she made sure to look afraid. Terrified almost at the prospect of a hunter. “Why can’t they just leave us alone?”

Theo had avoided the tunnels since he’d been brought back from hell, every time he entered them he could hear the dread doctors, smell the rotten scent of death. He remembered being dragged beneath the ground, begging for his life. 

But he’d watched a hunter enter the tunnel and he had to make sure they didn’t hurt anybody. 

When he came around the corner and saw Tracy taunting the hunter as he approached. He knew when she realized he was there, standing from her position where she’d had him pinned. 

“You okay?” He asked softly, eyeing her up and down to be sure.

Theo was the last person she wanted to see out here, near the tunnels. It wasn’t his playpen any more, it was her’s. “I’m just peachy.” She said, looking down at the hunter. It was a shame anyone had shown off, she’d planned to play with him a little more. Maybe end the whole ordeal by paralysing his throat and watching him choke to death as he wasn’t able to swallow the saliva filling his mouth. 

“There’s a lot of hunters out in the preserve at the moment. You should be careful, Theo.” She said, careful to say his name so that if the hunter did live, he’d at least know one of their names to pursue.

“pffft what –– no.” stiles said as he quickly shook his head. “but i mean if i was, would that be so bad?”

She tilted her head, watching him, and weighing up her answer. Sure she was planning on screwing everyone over, what was wrong with having a little fun while she was aiming to do it? “Only if you thought it was going to be more than just dinner with a happy ending. Because that’s all it’d be.”

“thats the spirit.” he said, ignoring her sarcasm. “you rent my costume, i buy you lunch, or dinner whichever meal you prefer.”

“Sounds less like you’re paying me back, and more like you’re asking me on a date, Stiles.” She snorted, folding her arms and heading to the vendor to pay for his costume.

“ahh but you get to see my beautiful face every day so it makes it all worth it.” he said with a playful smile and a wink. “wow –– you truly are my knight in shining armour.”

“I’m sure. Highlight of my day.” She said, the chimera raising an eyebrow at him. Pulling out her wallet from the pouch on her belt, she shook her head. “Yeah yeah - what am I gonna get out of my good deed then?”

“there sort of is one, its us.” stiles said as he gestured between the two of them. “me, you, dad and parrish.” the man said, nodding at the list of people. stiles thought about it for a moment before shaking his head. “just give me the damn costume.”

“Don’t look at me, I’m just the one that gets yelled at by lawyers when you guys aren’t doing their job.” Though the calls about overturned murder convictions now that people were coming back to life wasn’t exactly their fault, either. She smirked, and handed it over to him. “I might even cover the rental fee for you.”

stiles tried to stay straight face but ended up chuckling softly. “actually i was going to say that i’m a cop which is basically a night but yeah that works too.” the man said with a nod before looking over at the costume she held up to him. “looks a bit like peter pan.”

“Same difference. Why hasn’t the Sheriff’s office just come clean and hired a supernatural department by now?” She said, shaking her head. Working the reception desk, she’d been taught that any calls that sounded like they didn’t make sense, to just pass onto the Stilinskis. She shrugged a shoulder, innocently. “The boy who didn’t grow up? Is that you?”

“wow tracy, thats so specific, i know exactly who you are talking about.” he said sarcastically as they walked over to the costume stand. “i want to say knight but why do i feel like you’re going to give me a peasant one?”

“No offence, but keeping on top of Derek’s social calendar isn’t anywhere on my list of priorities.” She said, rolling her eyes. She smirked, laughing to herself that he seemed to know her so well. “You only want to be a knight because you and the rest of the McCall pack have a superiority complex that you have to save everyone in town.” There was only a hint of bitterness to her tone, that she’d still died. “Nothing wrong with being knocked down a peg or two.” She lifted a costume from the rack and held it out to him. “What do you think?”

“wait derek is wearing a costume?” stiles asked with a raised brow. dammit. he knew he should have texted everyone before showing up. “alright fine but you’re helping me pick one out.”

“Yeah, he’s walking around in fur with a girl and some guy.” She shrugged - she didn’t generally pay much attention to him, he was one of the few she didn’t hold a grudge against, but knew he was in the McCall pack. She rolled her eyes, and took her hot dog as her name was called. “Alright, what are you gonna go for? A knight or peasant?”

stiles rolled his eyes slightly as he looked over at tracy. “trust me, it is taking every ounce of self control that i have to not put on one of these.” the man stated before shaking his head. “no i’m not but i’m prepared to be.”

“Then what are you afraid of, Stilinski? Showing your inner nerd? Hate to break it to you, but that was revealed years ago.” She said, rolling her eyes a little. “Even Derek Hale’s in costume, do you want to look more miserable than him?”

“as much as i enjoy a costume party –– i am not dressing up.” stiles said as he looked at the costumes in front of him, shoving a piece of popcorn into his mouth. “can’t exactly chase down a bad guy one of these.” the man stated. he wasn’t working but if he saw something wrong of course he’d go after it.

“You’re one of the last people I thought would be a party pooper.” Tracy said, folding her arms and watching him as she leant against one of the booths, waiting for her food. She was wearing a wench’s outfit, one she’d hired for the weekend from the booth. “Are you on duty or something?”

Tracy had been entering the tunnels, about to have a meeting when she’d first caught the scent of wolfsbane, barely dodging the arrow as it buried itself into the concrete wall. She didn’t want them entering the tunnels though, not risking them finding what lay within, so she hung back long enough for them to see the direction she was going, and once she knew they were following, she ran. She snarled as a flash appeared in her peripheral vision, dazing her a little. She stumbled to one side, at least thankful to be nearing the road. Another flash arrow dazed her though, blinding her long enough to knock her to the ground. Scrambling away, she loosened the belt on her pants enough for them to slide down, allowing a shift. Once the hunter got near enough, the now shifted kanima snarled, knocking the hunter down with her tail, and pinning him down, she dragged a claw down his cheek. She saw the terror in his face, and smirked. “What? Did you think I was gonna ruin my favourite pair of jeans for you?”

Hearing another heartbeat coming from the opposite direction of the hunter, she quickly shifted back, readjusting herself, standing as the other person approached her.

“It was self defence. He’s fine, he’s just going to lie there and think about what he did.”

Josh chuckled, yeah himself he had felt the pull of the moon at times, but it was faint, only half of his bestial nature responded to it. Truth was though that he was still feeling way angrier, feral perhaps, than he used to back when… back when he was human. Fuck it felt weird when he thought about it.

The young man frowned.

“Well I don’t know, certain things are pretty powerful.” He smirked, he didn’t blame Hayden, besides it saved her life and if Josh had a girl outside of the pack, well he would have likely done the same.

“Yeah I haven’t yet thought about the details.” Well he wasn’t that much of a planner wasn’t him, what he knew though is that things could easily backfire. “But we would have to be very careful if we are actually going to be behind the attacks, I mean Scott and the rest didn’t look the brightest, but they still got the Doctors, the Beast…” He hesitated looking thoughtful for a moment. “Us… And he will get back into a good light if they figure out that he was innocent, we need to rope him into something that will lead to him getting into trouble without a trail leading back to us.” Yeah it was easier said than done though.

“The pack are good, I agree, but Theo tried to kill their alpha. He lied his way into their lives once, what’s to say he wouldn’t be playing the long game to do it again?” She said, shrugging. She didn’t believe that herself, not sure why Theo was suddenly acting so saintly. “How about we both take our time to think it over, and regroup when we’ve had a chance to think of somethin solid?” Tracy probably wouldn’t wait around for Josh’s help if something came to mind, but while she didn’t trust him, he was the closest thing to an ally that she had against Theo. “But I won’t stop until he pays for what he did to us, Josh. I promise.”

Josh smiled and nodded back, truth was though, himself he wasn’t sure he could trust his former packmate. Only time will tell though, so far he had no better way to know her intentions anyway.

“Yeah me neither, I mean, why the hell would I trade my powers for what? Super sideburns?” He chuckled. Yep he was having too much fun with his chimeric abilities anyway. “Have you met her? I mean after you came back?” Maybe he could pay a visit too, who knew, not that him and Hayden were exactly friends even before they were changed.

“Just… I want people to see who he really was again, before we take him down. Fuck I want him to see it.” He furrowed his brows, truth was he wasn’t exactly sure about what he wanted, just that killing wasn’t enough, or maybe… Maybe Josh had never really been a killer and was just looking for an excuse to delay his revenge, even against the guy that took him down twice.

“Super sideburns and a really bad irritation once a month. And not the female kind.” She wrinkled her nose - she got restless on full moons, but it was nowhere near as bad as it could’ve been if she was a full werewolf, she was sure. She shook her head though. “No, I haven’t tried. She kind of deserted us anyway, right? Put a dick before her pack. Or... the joke of a pack we were.” She sneered. Maybe if she’d got out she wouldn’t have ended up six feet under.

“Then how do we do it? Set up some attacks, make it look like he’s up to his old tricks?” She murmured outloud. She could probably find some things in the lab to implicate him - she just hoped he wouldn’t be very convincing of his own innocence. “He loses the pack’s backing, what else will he have left?”

Paige nodded, noting the name.  “I’ll make sure and do that.  I guess all we can really hope is that karma catches up eventually, right?  If he did something that bad I’ve gotta think the universe will pay it back.”

“Fingers crossed that that’s how the world works.” She shrugged. “How about the Alpha that screwed you over? Is he still around, or did he run off with his tail between his legs?”
