As of lately Jackson, MS music has been evolving. Residents are searching for more auras that revolve around house parties and lounges, instead of clubs and bars. These fresh sounds and feels have branched off from “turn up” music through club speakers and landed in a field of good vibes that crank out through headphones. illPhil is one of the up and coming artists/producers spearheading this movement in Jackson. By teaming up with an up and coming clothing brand from home (Brooklyn, New York), he’s being a catalyst for “new” in not just music, but in clothing and small business as well. illPhil linked up with local photographer Q.Hefner and local music & lifestyle blogger Mack The Hood Hippie to help get his message out to the public.

HoodHippie: “What made you want to join forces with The Wavy Section brand?”
I see longevity in The Wavy Section's vision that relates to mine. Having the opportunity to connect with fellow riding young black businesses is an honor. I hope to use my platform as a creator to bring more attention to The Wavy Section brand.
I hope to use my platform to bring more followers to The Wavy Section. Both through music and style.

HoodHippe: “How do you feel the wavy section fits you as an artist?”
The Wavy Section captures the dirty, grimy components that make the urban swag unique. The presentation, however, brings a level of class that's needed for illPhil Productions seeing as how we pride ourselves on quality.

HoodHippie: "How did you choose which songs complimented The Wavy Section style the best to include in the accompanying playlist?"
It took a minute. I changed my picks a few times...I had an idea initially when I saw the clothing, and that idea changed once I put it on. [laughs] The clothing just changes your demeanor. Then it changed again once I saw the pictures! [laughs] It was a multi-step process.

HoodHippie: "What's the next move for you as an artist?"
“The goal is to build a studio. Fast. I like being mobile and being able to record wherever I like, but I’d love to have a place dedicated JUST to the music that I can call home.”
