February 2018, Studies (referenced from photos on Pinterest). For the first sketch I was focusing on color and trying to learn how to layer colored pencil. For the second sketch, I was trying to depict form and force.

Some of my first ever sketches done from life. Also my first time playing with markers! The old man with the blue hat was sitting cross-legged right smack in the middle of a busy, downtown sidewalk. I drew him from memory, but didn’t have any anatomy knowledge at that time. I am starting this blog to document the progression of my drawing skill. I’ve drawn for as long as I can remember, but never regularly. I have decided to pursue a career in animation and figured now was the time to seriously work at improving my skills. I’m currently teaching myself the fundamentals in preparation to apply to art school. These sketches mark the beginning of my artistic journey. Done January 2018.
