Novelty Shirt

You were always somewhat of a novelty shirt, printed with kitsch, patterned in retro fashions or fashioned in retro patterns.

Never of the moment yet stylish as a statement of charismatic wisdom.

So you get yanked from thrift store racks and collected again and again. Perhaps you get comfortably worn or end up a manic costume awaiting a laugh in the back of a closet.

You are a catalyst and a punchline. You are desirable yet underused.

You are uniquely fabulous and will always be abandoned in every end.

Bio-Aesthetics

The artist is an optimistic prospector. The artist is a miner. The artist is willing to sink a soiled hand into the pink muck, right down into the acidic bile and rancid byproducts of man’s interior in search of something elemental, something non-contingent. In the audience, we are surprised each and every time they bring something up from the inferno to show to us. We’re all amazed that there’s still something of value clinging to the walls down there.
