Elsie chewed her lip trying not to appear as though the comment had upset her. Normally such a comment would have gone unknown to the witch but it was one of the rare cases where she was actually sober for once which meant she’d caught onto the remark. “I never asked you to. Anyway, I don’t you’d make a great babysitter these days.” She joked with a smile.

The brunette could see the slight change in Elsie’s demeanor, but she didn’t feel any guilt for causing it. She’d only stated the truth, after all. “I will make sure to keep it off my resume, then.” Odessa remarked, meeting the blonde’s gaze. “What did you want?”

“Noted.” The male replied with a nod. “Well, I’d love to say there’s been progress but I’ve been busy with work so it’s not been very productive. I mean, I always have my ears and eyes open for any information or gossip. My mate reckons she knows someone inside of the group so I’m gonna try and get him by himself and ask him some questions.” He explained with a serious expression. “What about you, have you heard anything else?” Same questioned almost hopeful.

Odessa listened to the explanation from the muggle and maintained a somewhat interested expression throughout. When he had finished she gave him a simple nod of understanding. “That definitely sounds like it would get you somewhere.” She replied. “Though, be careful -- they might not want to divulge their information to an outsider.” And then her features turned to one of thought as she pressed her lips together. “Unless,” she began, meeting his gaze again. “You pretend to be interested in their ideology. That could be difficult, of course.” It was far too easy to mess with muggles and this one in particular was proving only to add to that stereotype. “I’ve tried to stay far away, but alas they seem to be keeping a watchful eye on me.” Her gaze moved over to the corner at the guard who had been stood in the corner for the duration of their conversation.

Moving back over to the bed so she could take her seat next to her cousin, she had to try and contain her anger. “Someone who doesn’t seem to understand the fact that I don’t want to talk to them.” She had groaned. “Why do we not have our wands?”

"You described just about everyone in this town,” Odessa pointed out, raising a brow at her cousin. She let her head fall back against the headboard as a small smirk came to her face. “I suppose they are under the very accurate impression that if we had them we would use them for maiming, torture and killing.” The raven-haired witch shrugged.

“Come on dess, don’t be like that.” Elsie replied making no attempt to move as she smiled at her old friend.

“I’m really not in the mood to play babysitter, Elsie.” She rolled her eyes, sighing. Her previous friend was hard work, even more so now and she really wasn’t in the right state to be dealing with it.

Sam took two steps back before looking back up at the female sheepishly with a grin. “Sorry bud, I didn’t mean to bother you. I just came by to say hi.” 

“You can say hi from a distance.” Odessa pointed out, looking up at the muggle. “So, how is your detective work going?” She sat back in her chair, getting comfortable for what she imagined would be a long-winded explanation. If she was honest, though, the muggle did provide her with a small amount of amusement -- however shocking that may be.

“There’s this thing called personal space,” Odessa started, looking up at them. “What it means is that you leave at least five foot between you and other people. So, if I’m correct, you’re about three feet too close.”

“Odessa.” Reagan had to refrain from rolling her eyes at her cousin, she should have known that a confrontation between the two of them would bound to happen eventually. Taking a nervous glance at the boy, she ruffled his hair with a forced smile in an attempt to reassure him and not give the impression of something being wrong. “Now you try and work on the next one while I just talk to my friend here. It’s okay, I’ll be back in a few to see how you’re doing.” Her words were quiet only meant for his ears. Standing up she closed the distance between the two of them and wrapped her hand around the other witch’s elbow, applying a little force to lead her away. “Not here.” The words were more of a hiss. “What is you’re problem?”

Odessa could see immediately that her comment had caused some sort of negative reaction in her cousin, and frankly that had been what she was hoping for. The moment Reagan’s hand found its way to her elbow, the dark-haired witch attempted to rip it from her grasp and stay firmly in place. “Then where?” She challenged, raising a brow at the brunette. “I thought that was obvious, but if you’re so dense that you need me to say it, well...” She let out a bitter laugh and shook her head. “There’s just something about traitors that gets under my skin.” In this case, though, Odessa wasn’t even referring to Reagan’s current allegiance, but rather the fact she’d inserted herself into Odessa's family -- one that she had long disowned.

“Nope, no. No taste, I just don’t want to feel or think.” He grumbled with a shake of his head as he tried to keep his balance and not stumble. He’d already had an agreement with the bartender to keep the drinks coming whenever he’d finished his previous.

Odessa’s brow raised at her cousin’s words. The slightest bit concerning, but she supposed he had been through a fair bit. Odessa picked up her glass before speaking. “I know how that feels.” She said, bringing the glass to her lips and taking a rather large sip of the liquid. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this out of it, though.” She noted, meeting her cousin’s gaze. "But, if you don't want to think or feel, then we're going to have to give youa bigger distraction than alcohol."

“Well, if I’m right and thinking about yourself takes up all your time, then I’m truly worried about those other people.”

Lying on her cousin’s bed, Odessa hadn’t been paying much attention to the conversation at the door, simply reading her book as she hadn't deemed it important enough to invest in. But, when Jamie raised her voice, it grabbed her attention and she looked over to the blonde. “What was that about?” She asked after the door slammed shut.

“That’s it, you’ve got it. See that wasn’t so hard now, was it?” She smiled softly at the youngster as she finished helping with their homework. Reagan wasn’t sure why she was suddenly getting distracted by the stranger but it made a nice change to act as if there wasn’t a war going on. Hearing the clearing of a throat caused her to look up a little startled.

“How adorable.” Odessa said from a few feet away, arms crossed over her chest and sarcasm lacing her words. “Who knew muggle studies would actually come in handy.” Not that she thought this was actually useful. She raised a brow as she looked at her cousin entertaining what she assumed was a muggle child. Of course, she didn’t care that the boy would pick up on the unknown words -- he wouldn’t understand them anyway.

Spencer was slumped against the bar, it wasn’t often he drank alcohol but the male had been so down recently that he decided that one drink wouldn’t hurt. The problem was that one drink had turned to one more, and then another one and another one, and before he knew it he had numerous of empty glass lined in front of him. Picking up another glass he downed the drink before wincing at the burn in his throat. “mmmm, no, noooo, nope.” He slurred shaking his head. “I’m not finished yet.” He stated holding his finger up before picking up another drink accidentally sloshing the drink in his drunken stupor.

Odessa had stumbled upon her cousin when he was already well on his way to being flat-out wasted, but that hadn’t stopped her from getting a glass of her own and joining him. She had come to the bar for that very reason, after all. A fair few glasses later and Spencer, though drunk, was still going strong. "Maybe not, but I thought you’d want to savour the taste a bit?” She chuckled lightly, as the second drink spilled over the side and onto the table. Odessa shuffled back a little out of the splash zone. It was obvious that he wasn’t drinking just for fun, and honestly, Odessa couldn’t blame him for that. Downing the rest of her own drink, she called the bar tender over and ordered another for herself. She better catch up.
