sept 22 13 - givin you the intro!
Hey everybody! Cecilia here, with the FIRST! EVER! THEDIVERGENTBRUIN POST!!! *cue Lady Gagaās Applause in the background* Hope yāall are excited as I am. I am going to try really, really hard to make posts consistent on this blog. I want to be able to fill you in on my bruin life and all the happenings.
Before I get into my first weekend here at UCLA, let me explain exactly what Iām doing and why Iām doing it. This is not just a blog for me but you, too. If you are in the process of transferring or if you are a freshman in a university and are worried/scared/feeling like youāre going to throw up because you donāt know what youāre doing. I AM HERE FOR YOU! WE ARE IN THE SAME BOAT! WE ARE ONE! :D I know how it feels like to be alone and so scared of asking questions, trust me. I still get nervous speaking up. But, I want to be here for you to answer any questions and just share any experiences I go through here. So I guess this is sort of a How To: Survive College blog. Is that a thing? Are there any out there? Hope so. Because letās face it: college is scary. Itās a huge change and transition that we go through. I want to be able to be there for you. Even if you ask me something that I have not experienced, I will even look it up for you, I swear! Just call me mama bruin, because I want to make sure you are taken care of and you eat all your fruits and vegetables.
Now, to explain my tumblr url ā thedivergentbruin. If you do not know, Divergent is a young adult novel written by Veronia Roth about a post-apocalyptic world where teenagers at the age of sixteen choose a faction ā Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the peaceful),Ā Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave), and Erudite (the intelligent) ā to live in for the rest of their lives. (Side note: IF YOU HAVENāT READ IT, BUY IT!) This faction becomes their new family and they are no longer able to live or really communicate with their blood family if they choose to live in another faction as them. When the main character, Beatrice Prior, takes her aptitude test, her results are inconclusive. She fits equally into three factions ā Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless. This means she is ādivergent,ā which is something she canāt tell anyone else about or else theyāll try to get rid of her. Basically, being a divergent means you do not fit perfectly into one certain lifestyle. You are equally different things so essentially, youāll always feel left out because you canāt just think one way. Some may see that in a bad way, like I would have a few years ago, but I donāt think it is. Personally, I feel like a divergent. I feel like I am so many things all at once. I had been trying to figure out a name for it for YEARS and am so happy I know of one now haha. But! I chose thedivergentbruin because that is what I am. I am divergent. I am a bruin. There are so many sides of me, and instead of thinking they are all separate parts of me, they essentially make me whole. Does that make sense? Hope so! Haha.
This post has been really long, Iām thinking about writing about my weekend her tomorrow instead! Once I post this, I will post pictures I took today! I am going to try very hard to get a picture of the sunset everyday (or every other day) because sunsets are beautiful. And Iām thinking about doing this project called The World Is So Big And I Am So Small. It will be pictures where it looks like itās coming from the point of view of somebody really tiny :3 Or at least, thatās what itās supposed to be haha.
