Ultimately, his actions culminated in the destruction of his home.

Look I love DK Bananza from the very bottom of my heart but I really feel like the Canyon and Feast layers should've given us Giraffe and Lion Bananzas. It would've been so cool

So I made my own just to visualize what they could've looked like and how they would've functioned. I had so much fun trying to replicate the new artstyle I was so excited to draw these as soon as I got the ideas for them :D

Gotchawrench

Released: Sep. 11, 2020 Type: Assist Trophy / Enemy Game: Wrecking Crew ‘98

This mechanical monster has one goal: to harass demolition workers! And also construct Bowser’s bases… and also help destroy them? Wrecking Crew is a weird series. Gotchawrench will chase down fighters and smack them with a fierce headbutt. The SPNG-98X model is the only Assist Trophy and Subspace Emissary enemy capable of climbing ladders and ledges.

I originally started this model back in February 2018, but I put it aside in order to focus on finishing Raphael the Raven’s Castle and handling model submissions. While I consider Gotchawrench to be just an Assist Trophy, I know some people will prefer a full-fledged fighter, so I gave the model more features and added extra props. I even created a set of eye textures based on the Puppet Fighters in Ultimate’s World of Light. I know the rigging on the noodle limbs aren’t great, but I did my best. The model is designed such that you can remove the arms entirely like in the original design.

Buzz

Released: Aug. 23, 2022 Type: Enemy Game: Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!

What’s worse than getting stung by a wasp? Getting cut in half by one! These robotic pests can be found throughout the Northern Kremisphere. While they normally stick to a set path, the Subspace Army has reprogrammed them to hunt down and destroy fighters. The red ones are much tougher, while the pink and blue ones are faster.

The enemy designs in DKC3 are pretty weird, and this one is no exception. I was having trouble figuring out the proportions based on the sprite, but then I realized that the cover for the official Player’s Guide shows Buzz from the side. Isn’t it strange that most of the official art of Buzz is pink instead of green? I figure they later realized that pink and red are hard to tell apart. Anyway, I modeled this one with a different technique than usual. I created a series of splines to form the shapes of the face, then used those splines as scaffolding for adding polygons. It’s certainly not perfect, but I’m generally happy with it.
