don't even piss me off. as someone who grew up with a parent in kitchens full time and grew up to be in kitchens and still am. it's a horribly exploitative industry that generally doesn't give a fuck about the well-being of their staff. like there's a reason we're all there, whether it is a case of Oh I Went To Culinary School And This Is What I Want To Do In Life OR it's I Was A Really Good Kitchen Hand With No Culinary Experience And Now They Have Me Running Multiple Sections Every Night And Now I Can't Get Out and yes, it can be SO much fun. i have had some of the most fun ever on shifts but still just go home and cry alot of the time. i wish i could work in another environment where my body isn't being completely destroyed. working in kitchens especially as someone with chronic illness and pain is not for the weak and i AM quite weak and struggling. we are all struggling. everyone I've worked with in kitchens are exhausted and burnt out. it's not the bear level drama of OUGHHH I NEED HANDS I NEED FUCKING HANDS GET THE FUCK OFF MY EXPO. we are not fucking talking to each other alot of the time except for required communication for service. we're all too fuckin tired. i don't know. I have coherent thoughts I might get to at some point but I've been seeing too much of this shit lately. i saw a video of some fuckin dude saying, and i quote "the next big lifestyle category will come out of the kitchen, but not from the food itself, rather the people inside it - more specifically what they wear." and boy WHAT a statement .... are non-kitchen people gonna start wearing stinky ass aprons that they haven't been able to wash for a few days because they're working so much there hasn't been time to wash anything????? we all gonna start wearing those ugly ass bright blue bandaids and call it fashion? Hello?
