I love booksellers!
I met a girl who works at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago.We talked for a while and I gave her my card, thinking maybe if they already carried my books she would contact me to come sign them.
Well, they didn’t carry my book.
So she ordered ten of them. Which, in case you didn’t know, is a really high number of copies for any one store to have of a non-bestselling author’s books.
Then, to make this even better, SHE PROCEEDED TO SELL ALL TEN COPIES WITHIN AN HOUR AN A HALF OF THEM ARRIVING IN THE STORE.
Then, to make things EVEN BETTER, she sent me a message to let me know all of this.
DAY. MADE.
Thank you, Nikki from B&N. You are amazing.
This is amazing! We so wish every bookstore had a bookseller like Nikki who loved Sing Sweet Nightingale that much. :D
Guys, if you love The Dream War Saga and want to make certain the series continues through all four books, please make sure you spread the word! So many series are cancelled because of low sales numbers. Don't let this series go the way of the dodo! Spread the word! Talk to your school and library about carrying the book. Convince your friends to read it. Talk about it online.
Trust us. Every little bit helps!
In case you missed it live, you can still listen to my interview with DJ Julee Jonez from Hot 103 Jamz in Kansas City! The interview is quick, but we talk about the impacts of emotional abuse and why it’s so important for people—especially teenagers—to be aware of this widespread problem.
Here’s what Julee had to say about the interview:
Today’s Monday Motivator is different. I’m not talking about getting that next gig, making more money, getting in shape or other topics I love. This one is informational about a topic dear to me: teens and their emotional well-being.
One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner, a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence. What’s more alarming? Only 33% of teens who were in a violent relationship ever told anyone about the abuse. But would teens pick up a book about emotional abuse? Author Erica Cameron, who was in an emotionally abusive relationship, figured out a way to marry the theme with a creative read in her debut novel, “Sing Sweet Nightingale”, the first volume of The Dream War Saga, a four-book young adult series. Listen in as we chat about the read and the serious issue of emotional abuse.
I burn for you <3
Students from the Riverdale High School Literacy Festival redid my cover and WOW. They made my book so creepy-cool! Also, my name is on a coffin. O.O! I love this so much ♡
Another amazing thing the Riverdale teachers, staff, and students did was decorate doors based on the books. Look at how pretty! I swear that I am going to go back to this school’s festival every year. Whether I have a new book out or not. ;-)
Look! Sing Sweet Nightingale is hanging in some pretty great company down at Riverdale High School in Florida! Yay! At the end of February I get to spend a couple of days at this school with christinafarley, vivibarnes and a lot of other amazing YA authors. I am very much excite!

Reblogging because I had to look this up for someone and just remembered how much I love this. And I do. I love it so much. <3
Seriously, though. This student of mine NEVER FORGAVE ME for killing J.R. Never.
Meet Hudson and Mariella in Sing Sweet Nightingale, book 1 of The Dream War Saga.
A long table covered with a bright orange cloth sits in the center of a grassy glade. Brightly decorated cupcakes, sparkling punch-filled crystal bowls, colorfully wrapped presents, and a five-tiered cake fill the table. It looks like something straight out of the dreams of a seven-year-old girl—or maybe the tea party scene from Alice in Wonderland—except it’s surrounded by a shadowy forest.

"Whatever it Takes" is a short story set within The Dream War Saga universe and published within the Doorways to Extra Time anthology.
That’s one of the problems with Paradise : after you’ve stared into the sun, the afterglow makes it difficult to see anything else.
