I’m never gonna wait
that extra twenty minutes
to text you back,
and I’m never gonna play
hard to get
when I know your life
has been hard enough already.
When we all know everyone’s life
has been hard enough already
it’s hard to watch
the game we make of love,

Welcome home, Jazz, in the form of Jason Pilley!
Welcome home, beat and jazz and flow. You are there, in his body and you have embodied and you have allowed him to further the cause of unconditional experience with words. Sound. Movement.

A note on self acceptance, a haiku.
If you could go back in time to your 13 year old self, what would you say to them. In four words?!

I am very pleased to announce that, as of December 2013, University of the Arts London Students’ Union will be a Living Wage employer.
Following its first meeting of the academic year, the SU Trustee Board unanimously agreed to start paying our staff at least the London Living Wage of £8.55 per hour*.
The Living Wage is independently calculated based on living costs; anything below this does not account for the basic standard of living and as such is a poverty wage. Since the Living Wage campaign began in 2001 it has lifted over 50,000 people out of poverty.
The Students’ Union firmly believes that nobody should be limited from accessing employment based on their background or financial circumstances, and this includes opportunities within our own organisation. Nobody should be unable to provide for themselves or those they care for. Low pay is one of the biggest drivers of social exclusion, and we believe all workers deserve fair renumeration. The current economic system that stagnates wages and drives up the cost of housing, travel and food is designed to keep workers in poverty and businesses in profit. We reject that system and are working to operate as ethical an employment framework as possible.
Currently, the staff in our bars, cafe and in ad-hoc employment earn the National Minimum Wage of £6.31 per hour. Moving these workers on to the Living Wage amounts to a 14% pay increase - a substantial benefit to students who are all too often living below the breadline.
We are delighted to make this announcement during national Living Wage Week (3 - 9th November). We hope this sends a message to other organisations - to our own University and to other SUs - in encouraging them to adopt Living Wage policy for both in-house and contracted workers.
You can visit the Living Wage Foundation for more info on the campaign.
In unity,
Shelly

*The rate is set to rise in April 2014, and our staff pay will go up in line with this increase.
Two bands of the Poet/Musician Homogeneity
It goes without saying that poetry is intrinsically linked to musical lyricism.
It could be argued that it is the stand-alone poet vs the musician who has the harder time in their craft. Whilst one relies entirely on their own voice to carry the message, the other utilises sound and harmony to construct a sonorous memory with the listener.
However one might view it, the poet as musician and musician as poet is entwined.
Here is two bands which you may not have heard of, yet who fit the paradigm of the poet/musician homogeneity:
Little Comets
Little Comets believe themselves poets. Such is obvious from their webpage title 'sunshine plus rain divided by (geo + po)etry and their obsession with lyric videos.
And rightly so; 'I have never heard anybody use taciturn in a song before.' Stated my friend, Cosmo, as we stood in front of the Great Stage watching this band he had never heard of (he doesn't like things he hasn't heard of being sprung on him) at Secret Garden Party, 2013.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0KIVChnM3k
It is their second album, Life is Elsewhere, which powers their poetic talents. Songs such as Jennifer (the aforementioned quote by Cosmo is about this song), Worry, Violence out Tonight and Bridge Burn; these are the ones to listen too. Oh, and Woman Woman:
Woman, woman,
Please believe me,
Standing on a cliff edge,
Can you see me?
Cause I have had my share of,
Second chances,
Open doors and wide romances.
MONEY
You are blue if you are not moved. It is permitted if the orchestral soundscapes are not your thing, or if the movement of lead singer Jamie Lee's metaphors will not grip your senses in a moment of transition between the post-Modernist discourse of today's media zeitgeist. However, MONEY act as the voice of the educated worrier, and their questions of spirituality are the antithesis to modern day narcissism.
Taking into account three things with MONEY:
Jamie Lee
Jamie Lee is the front man of MONEY. If you read interviews with him, you would be right in assuming that he has the kind of creative genius associated with the great rebels of intellectual thought.
Goodnight London
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJg-CN9npTA
His ballad, Goodnight London, is perhaps the centerpiece on which MONEY's fan base begins. From a poetry standpoint, it is within the nature of the story being disclosed which inspires comparison with the listener. The musical accompaniment itself a poem, or a companion, reflective of the attitude of desolate heartbreaking abandonment within Lee's lyrics.

Lee is a poet. Watch the video and you will understand.
