The Kernel IPA review by our own wonderfully fabulous Simao Pires Ferreira...enjoy
“Kernel know what they're doing.
They've known it for a long time.
They started all this.
Their IPA constantly changes hops/recipe, and also, constantly, is one of the best ones around. The perfect balance between strong, sweet and hoppy, it's a perfect beer to introduce someone to the IPA world.
And once you're in it, you don't really have to go much further.”
...Thank you Simao for that wholesome review. Now let’s get down to The Duke and crack open the Kernel’s!
Rothaus Pils Review by our own darling Matthew Johnson...enjoy...
I first came across this beauty while holidaying in Berlin and I returned with a fond, albeit hazy, memory of the stuff. With somewhat damaged mammillary bodies at my disposal, I would have struggled to recall a detailed description of this delicious beverage. Fortunately, here at The Duke Of Wellington, Rothaus Pils is now fully stocked, fully available and fully delicious! I begin by cracking the bottle open and pouring it's contents into a small tulip glass. Closing my eyes I place my nose around the tulip's rim and inhale, deep and slow. Subtle floral notes penetrate the nasal passages and whisk one away to the Black Forest of it's origin. Opening my eyes I study the bright colouration before taking a long draught of it's golden physicality. My tongue enters a romance with the fruity flavoursome Pilsner and I am refreshed by it's light and crisp body. Clocking in at a well rounded 5.1%, Rothaus Pils possesses the quality you'd expect from a German lager while boasting a stand-alone flavour that makes this beer truly unique. Perfect for all weathers, rain or shine, it's versatility allows it's consumer to be enveloped by it's magic whenever, wherever one may choose... I choose Rothaus.
So with all that in mind, why not come down to The Duke and have a try for yourself!

The Dukers visit BEAVERTOWN
You may have noticed that us Dukers love craft ale. A few months ago we took a trip to Hackney Brewery to see what they were up to- you can read about that and see some exclusive snaps here.
This time we hauled ourselves over to Tottenham Hale to check out what the folks at Beavertown are up to these days.
We wandered around their mountains on Neck Oil cans and through the maze of fermenters but what really caught our collective eye was the BAR!
After trying a tipple of Neck Oil, Gamma Ray and Beaverton’s first brew, Smog Rocket, we were all feeling merry. Then they brought out the big guns. Our favourite (a lot of the staff ended up stocking up on these at the merch stall) was Beavertown’s recent collaboration with Denmark’s ToØl brewery. Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde is a case of two beers, Dr Jekyll - a tart, gooseberry infused pale ale with a relatively modest ABV of 8.1%. This is paired with Mr Hyde - a chocolately imperial stout coming in at a whopping 13.7%!!
A few hours (or was it days?) later the Dukers stumbled out back into the real world and returned to The Duke for a post-match analysis, over a few cans of Neck Oil and Gamma Ray, of course!

1. The film only took 25 days to shoot.
2. The tattoo parlor in the movie is named after Emma Thomas, the movie's associate producer and director Christopher Nolan’s wife.
3. The camera Leonard Shelby uses is a Polaroid 690.
4. All of the dialogue in the black and white scenes was improvised.
5. Christopher Nolan chose the motel the film is based in on how difficult it was to navigate. As Nolan says on the DVD audio commentary, “If M.C. Escher was going to design a motel, this would be it.”
Head to the Duke this Sunday for our free screening on Memento at 8pm.
